Ladies and Gents, Your Star Trek Cast

Although J.J. Abrams and his Star Trek origin movie won't be attending SDCC this year, he will be sending these four character posters. Clockwise from the top-left, that's Eric Bana as a villain, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Chris Pine as Kirk, and Sylar as Spock. Let's run these bad boys down, shall we?

• I had totally, totally forgotten Eric Bana was going to be in this movie at all, let alone as the villain. When I see his face tattoos, I just end up thinking of Darth Maul. However, there are certainly worse things Trek could rip off.
• My immediate thought is that Zoe Saldana is very Uhura-like, but I suppose it's all in the hair, which is cut off in the poster. Perhaps it's very Uhurian. I'm reserving judgment.
• I won't, however, reserve judgment on Chris Pine, because without that trademark orange Starfleet shirt, Pine just looks like a smug prick. Kirk was a smug prick...in space. Seriously, he just looks like a guy.
• Zachary Quinto does look a helluva lot like Spock, but if you give me a bowl cut and those ear prosthetics, and I would too. Actually, it just makes me irked they didn't try harder (or even a little) with young Kirk. (Via /Film)
