Nothing to See Here, Move Along

Come here. Come here! And shut the hell up! I need you all to listen—TR contributor Chris Cummins found a bootleg video of the Watchman movie footage shown at SDCC—shut up! I know it's awesome, but be quiet—on Youtube! Now, it's easily the worst bootleg video I've ever seen—the guy filming it was apparently also in a wrestling match at the same time—but it does show blood landing on the smiley face pin, which should be enough to make most nerds need to switch pants.

Now, if WB finds out about this, they're going to take it down. So I need all one million of you TR readers to promise not to tell anybody. Okay? great.

Yeah. I would have liked to see that shot of Dan Dreiberg sadly sitting in front of his Nite Owl costume, but Rorschach finding the Comedian's safe room was nice -- in fact, I like it being an actual room even better than it just being a false wall in his closet. The movie just improved on the comic for me. Eat it, Moore!

LMAO@ eat it, Moore....

I don't know why he can't ever be happy about the amount of attention his work receives. I mean, say what you will, but the film adaptations of both The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen AND V For Vendetta were massive amounts of fucking awesome.

So yes, eat it Moore, indeed!!!

You had me, cKHAVIKk... Then you lost me. League had its moments, but I wasn't a big fan. I don't know how Moore felt about it, but I would understand if he was less than happy.

I just think it's funny that one of his big problems with DC is that they never let Watchmen go out of print, thereby letting the rights revert to him and Gibbons.

A. He didn't exactly create these characters -- as far as I know, this was pitched as a Captain Atom/Blue Beetle/Question story, and they made him alter the characters because of the nature of the story, right?

B. The biggest publisher of comics in America is publishing his book -- even if their rates are lousy, he'd probably get decent royalties, if he accepted the checks. Especially now.

Rorschach was totally worth the crappy ass camera work. Oh hot damn it was beautiful. Fucking brilliant, pardon my English.

Zach, check with Wikipedia - you are both correct and slightly less so. Ultimate reason for the change in characters was Moore's choice but you are correct about the weight of the story being the excuse he gave for changing them to original heroes.

And you hit it perfectly with "he'd probably get decent royalties, if he accepted the checks." Alan Moore invented emo.

Oh god. Rorschach's mask does have the ink shifting around. That makes this movie totally worth it.
