Diamond's Marvel Select Gets Honky-Venom

Or Anti-Venom. Or Venom-Honky. Whatever the hell the white Venom is called. The figure is due from Diamond in February of next year, so you'll have plenty of time to figure out his name as he appears in the new Spider-man arc. I'm not nearly as worried about his name as the fact that the spider-logo on his chest is inverted, meaning it's staring directly at his junk. It's how you know he's evil. (Via Action-Figure)

My first thought was: "Cool! Bizarro Venom!"

My second thought was: "Wait, that's not right.."

I had several problems with "Brand New Day," but the return of John Romita Jr. and the introduction of Anti-Venom make it all worth it.

A Problem:
The New Avengers no longer know who Spider-Man is, despite seeing him, and each other, naked in one of the previous issues. At first I thought the naked scene was now out of continuity, but it was recently referenced in Mighty Avengers. What's up?

My Solution:
There's some sort of interdimensional imp that goes back in time and puts Spider-Man masks on naked people. It's the only rational explanation.

CrackaVenom looks pretty awesome there.

This is just one of many cracks this whole fucked up mess known as Brand New Dumbshit has and will continue to cause. There is NO way all the titles will be figuring out Spidey's continuity. I'm no continuity freak but this fiasco is so contrived and will have far-reaching muckups for future writer that I will not be buying it anymore. Gave it a chance but even JRjr can't save this pile of crap.
White-venom?
Is there not a better idea than to pick the bones of old ideas?
I wouldn't be surprised if your solution was stolen by Marvel and used.
Course, I'd buy a book about an imp with a Spidey mask fetish.
There is hope.

"There is NO way all the titles will be figuring out Spidey's continuity."

--Though on many levels I agree, but Dan Slott is actually trying. He's trying to actually take advantage of the whole "One More Day" storyline and using it to move the plotline forward. It's not that anything got erased from continuity, it's just that Mephisto brought people back to life, made wiped people's minds, and destroyed all evidence.

--That's what I would have said until I read the actual comic. It might be a mess, but it's a fun mess. The idea isn't the most inspired, but it looks cool and adds to the all-new, much more diverse group of villains showing up in the book. My policy right now is to only pick up Spider-Man if Slott (the only writer on this series who knows what the hell he's doing) and a good artist (like the aforementioned Romita Jr. or Steve McNiven) are doing it. The stories are more fun and accesible now than they've been for 15 years, even if the continuity frustrates more hardcore geeks. Especially since Bendis' writing on all his books (including Ultimate Spider-Man) has become much more complex in the past couple years.
