Sorry for the spoiler, but since no one else is treating it as such, I figured it's better you hear it from me. Yes, TFW2005 has received some kind of confirmation that Devastator will be in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Now, because Michael Bay is involved, it of course won't be the awesome yellow-n'-purple badass you see in the clip above.
This Devastator will be made of seven robots, and be a variety of different colors including red and green. More worrisome is the note that "Devastator has lots of upper body strength, like a gorilla." So it won't look like Devastator at all, and it won't consist of the original Constructicons, but apparently it will still be Devastator.
Call me crazy, but THIS IS NOT FUCKING DEVASTATOR. In fact, to me, none of the Transformers from the movie are the Transformers I remember, as they're all so radically different in looks, personalities, and willingness to urinate on people in public. Just because there's a yellow car called Bumblebee does not make him Bumblebee from the cartoon, assholes. And you can call this combiner robot Devastator if you want, but he's not in any way, shape or form. Which is a damn shame, because I really wanted to see the Devastator I remember.

I totally, totally agree with you. What's frustrating is that most Transformers fans will get upset with you for saying that, belittling you for wanting everything to be "slavish" to Generation 1, or "Geewun" as they sarcastically call it. They'll explain to you in a derisive tone how the original designs just wouldn't work in the movie, while those of us who aren't justifying things know Bay could have made the Transformers look more like their original selves, but just chose to do what the hell he wanted to do. I was shocked that more fans weren't pissed off over the live action movie, but I think most Transformers fans would rather find a way to love most everything labeled Transformers rather than be miserable about it.

Devastator? Or "Brawl?" After the first movie's name mix-up, who the hell knows?
Anyway, I'm ok with it. Once they quit trying to say this was based on the G1 cartoon stuff, I was ok with them doing an alternative take on TransFormers. Hasbro and Takara have done that plenty with RiD, Armada, Animated, and so forth, so I don't mind one more for movies.
...they aren't trying to say TF2 is based on the cartoon now, are they?

Not necessarily a bad thing.

Is...is anyone even moderately interested in this after the stultifying crapfest that was the first one? I mean, at least G.I. Joe has yet to shock and awe us with how bad IT'S going to be, but we KNOW what we're going to get with TF2--blinding, confusing, plodding, poorly-realized trash.

I'm okay with all the alternate universe Transformers series because most of them are crappy cartoons that I don't care about. The film was high-profile and was obviously based off Generation 1, which is certainly the first and most well-known Transformers series. The fact that the film presented such empty representations of most of the Transformers and depicted them as masses of shredded metal appalled me. I couldn't imagine it being much worse.

That's because they aren't. This is a seperate continuity...

As a grown man I am not overly worried that the movie doesn't match up to some cartoon I occasionally watched as a kid. If anything I am glad that Michael bay is safely kept busy with Transformers 2. Think about it; would you rather hear that Michael Bay has changed up the Transformers or that Michael Bay is directing Captain America?

I saw Transformers for the first time on Saturday, it's come to cable, I refused physically hand money over the second I found out there were no volkswagens, and Megatron is a gundam tin opener. I was still shocked at how bad it was, like watching an episode of MTV's Date My Mom, followed by a baffling series of set pieces with no transformers in them. But I did get goosebumps when Peter Cullen said "One shall stand, one shall fall". But it really didn't have the same effect with no Frank Welker retort.
Why did anyone see this movie? I wish it had flopped so badly the studio never wants to touch transformers again, because ever since Optimus died the second time, it's been shit. I'll just have to watch the original movie another 100 times. The Matrix of Leadership was a much more provocative Macguffin than the allspark.
Maybe in another 2 decades someone will actually make a Transformers movie instead of riding the coat tails of the trademark.

I hate a lot about the first movie, but I'm sure I'll pay to see this one because of all the cool stuff in it. (Luckily, I saw the first one for free.) But I think if these movies were called something else, we'd all be saying, "Man, except for the peeing, that's exactly what a Transformers movie should be like!" It would seem like a great effort, rather than a massive failure, creatively. Of course, given how litigation-happy Hollywood is these days, Hasbro would have promptly sued them. And rightly so.

As a film -- old cartoon/continuity/blah irrelevant -- the first one blew. I enjoyed oogling the chick in her shorts and low cut top, beyond that they utterly failed in their responsibility of a VISUAL storytelling medium.
Couldn't see what was going on, couldn't tell X robo-blob from Y robo-blob, couldn't care what happened to any of these people/robo-Rorschachs. Even the pacing of the dialogue and editing was off and jarring.
There was some cool CGI, sure, but no one bothered to use that for a cohesive... anything.

"Why did anyone see this movie?"
I went to one of the first showings, so I had no preemptive nerd rage warnings telling me that Bumblebee was going to take a leak.
I see the first as sort of establishing things; the sequel is what's make or break for me. We know their deal and their story now; if we don't see more and better of the bots, then I may not bother with the third. I enjoyed it, but there are other movies I've enjoyed more (Iron Man, Dark Knight) in spite of being a bigger TransFormers fan.
Still, I did enjoy parts of it. "Dispensor," the Mt. Dew vending machine going on the attack, Blackout at the desert base, most anything with Optimus/Peter Cullen, and other little fun stuff, like Jazz and Brawl emulating Kup and Blitzwing in the original movie.
My biggest problem? The damn camera. It didn't keep an eye on the action, it's like it was a part of the action, and made some things really hard to follow at what might have been the best parts.
...well, that, and the stupid subplot with the hackers. I heard the original screenplay had them better fleshed out. Maybe it did, but the final...?

The 1st live action movie, was good in it's own right and was created seperately from the other continuims. The idea right from the begining was to re-invent them. Every other continuim previous (show/comics) are the same in different directions.

Kathy I think maybe you are the stupid one. no one believes the cartoons or movie is real. That's why people like science fiction. because it's fun to entertain the idea that it is while they watch it. Okay, here's my nerdrage. A live action movie could have been based of the design of the original cartoon. Not all of it, but a lot of it could have been changed a little to make it work. I think the movie is crap for this reason alone and dont care about all of the continuity bullshit.

Like many people here, I'm excited to hear that Devastator might be in TF2. But here are some key point to remember from the first movie...
-The tank was named Devastator.
-Bonecrusher got pwned by Optimus.
Now I like the first movie, and I look at each adaption of Transformers as their own, G1 ran for 4 seasons before beast wars came out if i remember right. and that Adaption I hated. If you follow along the different series with Transformers many things change- hell in TF Armada scavanger was an autobot. So people getting all upset that Bay isn't following G1 or whatever should also complain about transformers for the past 20 years. To tell you the trust he brought back Transformers to an new generation. Kids love it, and for once they actually look alien in robot form. Only 3 characters in my opinion didn't look like their cartoon counterparts, and they are Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream. Optimus did look "normal" when he was in "battle mode" But Bay could have left out the flames.

Honestly, I don't see why everyone is complaining about (those that aren't, I commend you) the re-invention of the Transformers. Personally, I think they're completely badass, and this is coming from someone who watched Transformers, Beast Wars, etc etc. religiously as a kid. If they made them look in the movie as they did back then...My god..how much more bland could you get? The blocky, flat surfaces and uneventful transformations would make it so much more boring.
I will admit the camera angle and the cheesy dialogue sucked, but the action scenes were pretty awesome.

The idea was never to make the transformers of the cartoons but to give a different take on the mythology that built it. seriously, if you hate it that much then why watch it, wait for it and go see it? Just boycott the damned movie and stop talking about it. You're only making it more popular.
There's no point in looking for spoilers about the movie just to bash them. Just go back to your moms basement and play with your cast iron Transformer toys. Get a camera and make you own movies.

I think if all of you complaining are just doing it to complain about something. Hears a thought you did not like the first one the DON'T go to the second one and SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!! First movie was great "even bumble bee lubercationg on the guy". The funny thing is none of you complainers can or will do nothing about it accet maybe spend the money to watch it. And if it was such a bad movie why did it make soooooo much money at the box office and then make a killing in dvd purchases.

well, i think that all the designs for transsformers 2007 were awesome. the flames on Optimus Prime really showed off how cool he is, and Bumblebee being a 2010 Camaro really showed how sleek and fun-loving he can be. Michael Bay did a great job on this movie, and if you don't like it, then you shouldn't tell the whole world. there are bound to be some haters for every movie that ever comes out. all i know is that Devastator is probably going to look very awesome in Revenge of the Fallen. besides, i would rather see cool, detailed transformers like the ones in the movie. if you want to see the old devastator, go buy some of the old episodes and watch them. i just hope they don't make the same mistake of killing of Optimus in Revenge of the Fallen like they did in the old movie. nobody liked the fact Optimus died.
