DVD Day: September 23rd, 2008

Between last week's DVD Day, next week's DVD Day, and the Lego Batman/Mega Man 9 double-shot, it's probably good that today is light on the DVDs. Enjoy it, since we're all going to be legally required to buy Iron Man when it comes out next week.
• Hellsing Ultimate Vol. 4
One of the few ex-Geneon anime titles worth saving, this is the long-awaited next installment of the beautifully animated, preposterously violent, accurate-to-the-manga Hellsing series. It's incredibly awesome...but it's also like 40 bucks for one hour. Viva Netflix!
• Friday the 13th: The Series: The First Season
I had totally forgotten this existed until just now. And after reading the Amazon reviews, I'm shocked to realize it has nothing to do with Jason or Crystal Lake. The hell?
• Peanuts Holiday Collection
These have all been out before, but it's a 3-pack with the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas specials.
• One Piece Season 1: Second Voyage
More depressing anime sales perspective: those fans who cried so hard have finally gotten their wish for uncut One Piece, but this new volume is barely—barely—beating Alvin and the Chipmunks' Thanksgiving Celebration in sales, at #51 to #54 (see it here). And in fact, for the previous three weeks, Alvin was beating it.

Posted 09/23/2008 at 09:17:11 AMTo my middle school tastes, Friday the Thirteenth was a pretty good TV show. It is best to see it as what it was, a show about a trio chasing down haunted antiques, and forget any association with the movie franchise.
Posted 09/23/2008 at 09:36:02 AMHellsing looks interesting, but I am a noob in that field. If I was to start at the beginning, I guess I get Hellsing Ultimate Volume 1 correct?
