A new Star Trek trailer has beamed down from J.J. Abram's frontal lobes, noteworthy not just for a few new shots, but for the first shot of Leonard Nimoy reprising his role as Spock the Elderly Vulcan. You don't wanna see the old Spock, you don't watcha da trailer. You wanna see the old Spock, you hitta da jump, and den you watcha da trailer. It's dat simple.

This four-day weekend cannot come soon enough.

Still with that awful driving intro!?! And still Uhura taking her shirt off!?! Basically, they left all the crap in, extended the boring shit, and tossed Nimoy on the end. LAME!

So pretty much jump to about 1:48 to see Nimoy say one line.

And that's probably the closest the trailer gets to the original Star Trek.

Seems to me if you were looking to make a lower tech model of something it should look about the same with just a little bit different... I'd love to hear the reason why the deflector dish was suddenly gold for a few years instead of the glowing blue and how the "Retro" look for spaceship design was also "in" for those years.

At this point I wouldn't be suprised if they kept the new Klingon look... I believe the DS9 episode where the go back to the Trouble with Tribbles gives us why there is no explanation, "We don't like to talk about it"

I know there are reasons for these decisions (newer fans will relate more/better to the newer designs than the classics) but I don't think starship design would change that much in the span of decade or two. Especially if that's supposed to still be Enterprise NCC-1701.

They explained the Klingon thing in the last season of Enterprise.

Dunno why they kept the driving intro...oh well, I'm still psyched :p

Ooh, Enterprise. There's some Star Trek gold.

Great, now I gotta go wiki Klingons

Hence the explanation in DS9 of "We don't like to talk about it."

I like how fanboys bitch about Uhura taking her shirt off. They clearly have never seen a Star Trek episode, Kirk banged every woman in his vicinity whether it was alien or human. Anyway, the inclusion of Nimoy was good, he's a damn good actor and the fact that the ST movies *he* liked tend to be the good ones, well, gives me hope.
