Here's a preview for the next episode of Smallville, and yeah...it looks shockingly good. I wish it was a big mystery why, but the answer is pretty simple: Geoff Johns, DC scribe extraordinaire, wrote the episode, which will bring some of the Legion of Superheroes to..well, Metropolis, since that's where 99% of the show takes place now. The cool thing about this cameo--besides being another bone for the comics nerds--is that because the Legion comes from the future and knows all about Superman, it actually brings Clark closer to his eventual destiny, and thus allows character development. And then there's also an armored guy who I assume is Doomsday (please correct me if I'm wrong) and I think I saw Chloe pick up a car. Hell, it's almost cool enough to make me forgot about the episode with the illegal Smallville street racing league. (Via Newsarama)

So why does lightning lad look like Ron from Harry Potter?
I am actually OK with the no supersuits and having leather jackets instead. Still not sure about who they have as Martian Manhunter and Doomsday. I will watch this episode but that is going to be it. It has degraded to a soup opra way to long ago for me to be interested. That and the fact that it took the allready messed up superman histlry and molested it.

The armored guy isn't Steel? It looks like him. Big hammer and all.
I loathe this show. Sorry. I'm a big comic nerd, but Smallville always just feels like Dawson's DC Universe Creek to me. A lot of soap opera angst, very little in the way of canon treatment of characters. Welling's a good actor, but I can do without Kreuk and the rest of the low-rent cast.
If I'm going to watch a soap-opera superhero show, I'll stick with Heroes. At least most the principles are adults instead of angsty teens played by twenty-somethings.
Of course, I'm older, and I just don't have the tolerance for teen melodrama that I did 20 years ago. The show may be great for the Gen Y crowd.

The guy in the mask is probably the Persuader:

Yep, Persuader. Doomsday is in there too (a couple face shots), he looks EXACTLY as he does in the comics. Martian Manhunter is the black guy that talks about power, and is shot at one point. And Chloe is picking up Clark, not a car (Braniac has taken control of her body). But yeah, the Legion looks great. Can't wait.
I'm 30, a huge Superman nerd, and LOVE the show. Never claimed to be a canon show. just think of it as an elseworld's tale, like I do all comic-movies/shows.

Wait, so Smallville doesn't take place in Smallville anymore?

This show has had more than it's fair share of bumps on the road and has at many times been arguably the most horrible show ever imagined, but this season has been incredible. This season really has fixed all the previous problems with the show. I'm quite impressed so far.
it also bears stating that even the crappy seasons are significantly better when watched all together because you can ignore the crapper filler episodes like the street racing one.

I actually have very little hope for this season now. Earlier on, I thought it would be amazing - simple reason being, they took away Lana, put Clark in Metropolis, and now have him paired up with Lois doing what he does best - saving peoples' asses and fighting bad guys. Now, Lana has returned back to the show (sorry, spoiler alert for those who care) and will no doubt set her sights on fucking up what good is left in it. That is, unless she is dressed as Chun-Li, which I don't think even that will salvage the show.
I'm also not a big fan of the show's Doomsday, not least because he's played by the dude who did The Secret Apprentice -___-.
Nevertheless this season has had some fantastic gems, like an episode where Clark is punted to the Phantom Zone with Lois.
