U.S. Street Fighter Movie Trailer Still Won't Let Kristen Kreuk Talk

Posted at 9:12 AM Jan 07, 2009

There's slightly more Chun Li in the U.S. trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, but that still mean about 15% percent of the movie trailer features Chun Li as opposed to about 8%. It's very much still The Legend of Michael Clarke Duncan and Other Assorted B-Grade Actors. I'll tell you what it confirms for me, though--that Kreuk will not be wearing the iconic Chinese dress that Chun Li has been pictured in since...her entire existence. I'm no Hollywood bigwig, but I can't help but think if you're making a movie about Chun Li and can't find a way to put her in her trademark outfit, you have fucked something up horribly.

If it weren't for the name of the movie on this trailer, I'd have no idea that this is a Street Fighter movie. It's kinda like the cast photos of Gi Joe: were it not for the fact that someone wrote "THIS IS FROM THE NEW GI JOE MOVIE!" I'd have no idea who the hell the people were supposed to be, or that they were from a new Joe movie (with the possible exception of the Baroness and Snakeeyes).

Both of these seem to be stripping one of the coolest aspects of their source material: cool costumes that helped make their characters unique. Lame.

At least the 90s Street Fighter movie was terrible in a colorful and extravagant way. This just looks dull and generic. I can't imagine anyone seeing this trailer (or the posters) and saying, "Yeah, I gotta see this movie."

The last martial arts movie I had so little anticipation for was Gymkata.

I suppose it's possible, just possible, that the folks who made this are saving Chun Li's trademark dress for the final scene, final surprise of the movie and that revealing it in the trailer would ruin the moment.

Of course, since trailers these days seem to give away just about every good moment in the film, I suppose it's just my little day dream of hope.

I'm tellin' ya: they can't show too much of Kristin Kreuk from the film because she spends the entire film nekked. And moaning.

STREET FIGHTER MOVIE TRAILER,PLUS TALKING ON NEW MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE.

I know you guys think that Street Fighter movie is going to be all crap but I think it will be good but it could have
been better if they do another SF remake with Ryu and Ken
as main characters.
The new Mortal Kombat is still in development and it is a reboot of the series and I have some actors to choose like Disney star Shin Koyamada to play Liu Kang,Laura Vandervoort as Soyna Blade,Chris Evans as Johnny Cage and maybe Jon Foo for the Great Kung Lao and young Kung Lao.
There is a studio happening for the MK film so we have to keep an eye out.
I think that Capcom should get into talks with the Mortal Kombat movie producers to talk on the Darkstalkers series
for feature films,TV series and other work.
Thank You.

Here's how a Darkstalkers movie works:

Take Van Helsing, and make everything neon. Then give it the plot of Mortal Kombat.
Darkstalkers has already been a TV series.

I'm usually quite disappointed with remakes period. This generation's complete lack of originality suggests the possible demise of mankind. The arts of suffering drastically. Chun Li is my favorite character and like yall said the trailer didnt show S*%t and Im already disappointed enough not to see the movie. I didnt even see a poster yet but the trailer was soooo fast that I had to get online to google the movie just to prove to myself that the title haad included Chun Li's name. Its a toss up for me but it does look pathetic from here as well.
