USA Today has the last trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie (definitely hit the full-screen feature if you want to see anything), and there's plenty of running and jumping and Gambit seemingly moving cards with his mind and li'l Cyclops doing math and Deadpool twirling in the air. But since I know all you really care about is the Deadpool dilemma as mentioned when we saw this figure of a heavily scarred dude with a singular claw on each hand, which was purportedly Deadpool, here's what this trailer shows: The scarred dude, with the claws, clawing Wolverine. We also see him shooting a Cyclops-like laser beam from his eyes at one point, thus indicating whoever or whatever he is, he has an amalgamation of mutant powers. Also: He does not look especially like Ryan Reynolds, at least as far as I can tell. So it might not be Deadpool.
But I think it still is. Admittedly, the toy that so troubled us could be a production error, like a figure in the wrong package (it happens). It could be a variant of a different character from the film, which Hasbro has chosen to put in the Deadpool package to help keep the character a secret.
I know a lot of you would like to believe one of these things, but the toy is still labeled "Deadpool," and thus, I have to believe that's who this dude is. Why Deadpool would suddenly get a plethora of X-powers is beyond me, but I'm dead certain Hasbro does not fuck around with its major toylines to accommodate movies (remember when Anakin's AotC figure came with a removable arm a month before the movie premiered?). While the above explanations are technically possible, the most plausible theory is the toy is labeled Deadpool because it's Deadpool. A variant of Deadpool, but Deadpool nonetheless. Sorry, folks. I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
UPDATE: So you guys think that's Weapon XI, do you? Say, Superhero Squad packaging, what do you think?
"The Weapon 11 program has created the ultimate mutant-DEADPOOL! As the mutant menace rampages across Three Mile Island, Logan and Victor Creed are forced to team up--or be destroyed."In summary: Weapon XI is scarred Deadpool played by Scott Adkins. With claws. Enjoy.

SPOILER!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MOVIE!!!! SPOILER!!! Weapons XI is deadpool, you see wade/deadpool as normal in the begin of the film then you found out he has been experimented on by Stryker, has loads of powers and has samurai blades come out of each hand at the end. they ruined the film with this ending!!!
-
Damned studios! There may still be hope though. Idle speculation. Could be John Howlet, Wolvie's older bro. He has wolverine-like claws, phasing and energy blasts. He is also allegedly the first Weapon X.
-
I am so annoyed they did this to Deadpool. He was great in the beginning of the movie and funny as hell. I would love to see this Deadpool in spinoffs. The ending Deadpool. Ugh. I was so pissed they did this. I need to check the credits, did Bendis write this script? He already killed the Avengers, would make sense to see him kill Wade.
-
I am so sad to say that the strange, clawed creature, shooting cyclops type laser beams, in the Wolverine trailer is Deadpool. I didn't believe it either. But after browsing through the Hasbro website and looking at the new wolverine movie toys, there are a couple toys that are a perfect match to that fucked up thing in the movie trailer, and each title says Deadpool. It almost hurts my feelings to see them absolutely loose all regard to all the deadpool and comic fans. Just like how they fucked up the x-men movies and silver surfer in the Fantastic Four. To put it simply Hollywood Dueche Bags think they are clever and cutting edge when they direct movies, and really believe they are so talented when they put thier own twist on a subject. And also those little arrogant pricks think they are never wrong, just becaue they get million dollar check when they finish the movie. I guess I wouldn't either. But I really, really hope I am wrong. And that the questionable character is indeed a compilation of all types of mutant powers called Weapon XI. But why would you label the toys in the line up Deadpool? So I also hope Hasbro is just fucking with us.

In the comics there is no actual character known as Weapon XI (Weapon X for those who don't know is Wolverine). As for this character (the following information may contain spoilers) , apparently the makers of the movie took creative licenses with Deadpool/Wade Wilson's character where seems that Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) is the merc with a mouth but he's presented with no actual scars or the Deadpool replica costume known in the comics. During the movie Wade Wilson will undergo some changes in a procedure by William Stryker turning him to a silent killing machine implanting blades in his forearms, giving him laser blazing eyes from Cyclops, the teleportation power of Wraith and of course he would have the healing factor of wolverine/Sabretooth. That's when you witness his form being scared and disfigured being the character Weapon XI (played by Scott Adkins). It was revealed in a thread form Scott Adkins' fansite that he will have the last fight against Wolverine in the movie and that's what we caught a glimpse off in the official trailer where we witness Weapon XI doing a flying spinning kick in the face of Wolverine with blades appearing out from his forearms. According to some inside leaking news, Weapon XI will ruin a huge part of the building or settlement where the last fight happens and so he will suffer severe damage and trauma that his own healing factor can't withstand hence his body will reject all of the implanted mutant parts and he'll be the good O disfigured Deadpool we all know from the comics. A note is that Weapon XI has his mouth sewn and that obviously is because Wade Wilson is the kinda guy who won't ever shut up! So Stryker sew his mouth in the process of the procedure. The markings on Weapon XI's body are the same markings that Wolverine had when they implanted his body with Adamantium and basically the markings will be clear on Weapon XI's body in the fight because Stryker was surprised by Wolverine breaking into the place searching for Sabretooth so he orders to wrap up the procedure as fast as possible.
-
Take this for what its worth, pulled off of wikipedia "Scott Adkins as Weapon XI: Weapon XI has powers pulled from many of the mutants featured in the film including Wolverine's healing factor and Cyclops' optic blasts.[21], and is in the end sequence fight scene against Wolverine.[4} and "Weapon XI to be capable of killing Wolverine, and therefore he thinks Romulus' plan is to turn Wolverine's son Daken into Weapon XI by fusing the Muramasa blade (which is the only blade that could kill Wolverine) onto Daken's skeleton.
-
To Also Missing: Well they made Wolverine and Sabertooth ACTUAL Brothers, and I still do not get my Cyclops is in it...*sigh* if they mess up Deadpool Im going to cry, I am sensitive ya know
-
Didn't wolverine fight with the 1canpara (first canadian para)in WWII??? TR readers will scream blue bloody murder if the movies screw with any character but on this all remain silent. Like it or not he is Canadian there is no changing that. what other parts of his origins are they going to change / omit
-
"Motorcycle" Yeah, no shit.
-
I'm still unsure on the Deadpool thing. There doesn't seem to be any claws or lasers from his eyes in the brief clip of him in costume. Maybe, please, I hope, they don't mess too much with the Deadpool storyline. I understand they condense things for movies but...gah!
-
We fear Ryan Reynolds gets turned into this when he becomes Deadpool, which is very disappointing since they only needed a mask and heavy scarring to make him an ideal trasnlation of the character.
-
I'm not sure what the confusion is, there are several flashes of Ryan Reynolds as deadpool in that trailer. Once, in a red sleeveless shirt with two samurai swords, again in a black sleeveless shirt, spinning through the air. Who else was that supposed to be?
-
That guy is to thin to be the Blob. It looks a hell of a lot like Cable.
-
Will.i.am's character is not a vampiric mutant. He's teleporter John Wraith a.k.a. Kestrel. Interestingly, John Wraith is a racist flatscan cracker in Ultimate X-Men. The Ultimate John Wraith appears in the Wolverine & the X-Men cartoon. So audiences can be confused by watching a black mutant and white human with the same name near simultaneously.
-
@Zach Oat There's an explanation for the name in the comics, but I doubt it'll come into play in the movie.
-
Marshall, I think that's the Blob, not Cable.
-
Who is the guy 20 second left mark? Is that Cable!?
-
Honestly, I'm still hoping that this works on some level. If anyone else has read Deadpool's solo books, you might remember that he at one point, was accused by T-Ray of taking his identity (Wade Wilson). If anything, Weapon XII/Barakapool is destroyed, Deadpool possibly takes on his persona? Just a thought, too tired to elaborate on this any further.
-
I hope this is some misdirection to confuse/intice fans...but if im wrong and they screw the crimson comedian up that bad i may never watch another fox movie again.
-
So this seems like one of those things where the creator's of the film are like, "Hey, this deadpool character is popular, let's put him in the flick so the fans will be happy" and then they don't follow up with making him anything like the actual Deadpool. There is nothing worse than someone not getting why people like the source material in the first place. It's not about a name, it's about a character.
-
Also, what government agency lets its agent call himself "Deadpool"? Everyone else on the team has cool animal and bird names (even the Blob, if you think about it), and Wade Wilson says, "I want to call myself Deathdealer. No? Killtacular? Dead Ringer? Youngblood? Bloodshot? Bloodpool? Deadpool? Yes? Cool!" Yes, I know it's a play on Deathstroke the Terminator's name from the comics, but it's also a Clint Eastwood movie, and a relic of a more Rob Liefeld-dominated time.
-
Let me get this straight. Right now, what we think happens is that Ryan Reynolds plays not-really-Deadpool until he gets chimera'd by the Weapon XI program into closer-to-actual-Deadpool, at which point he is suddenly played by not-Ryan Reynolds. I just don't see how the character undergoes such a change that he is suddenly played solely by the stunt double. Is the makeup so extensive that Reynolds never even has to play the part or speak a line? Do we never see or hear Reynolds in the makeup AT ALL? Is this a Super Shredder-type situation? So weird. And regardless of the popularity of Deadpool in the comics, Reynolds is so great that I would have watched a spin-off DP film in a heartbeat. If he becomes a mute, utterly unrecognizable bad guy, who therefore must (maybe) die, so much for that.
-
http://www.mtv.com/photos/final-x-men-origins-wolverine-trailer-images/1606337/3644705/photo.jhtml does he have no mouth or is it me?
-
this is what wikipedia has to say, and there is little there that makes me doubt the truthfullness of the statement... also if you go there directly you can search the souces yourself * Scott Adkins as Weapon XI: A mutant chimera created by Stryker. Curiously, the action figure is packaged as "Deadpool", and Adkins had also been Reynolds' stunt double,[4] creating confusion as to whether the leaked toy was incorrect packaged or Deadpool and Weapon XI are the same character.[21] okay i hope you all read this... small chance i know but still... i do believe this is true and makes the whole thing worthwhile again...
-
"Daken" is an incredibly stupid-sounding name, not least because it's a homophone of "Daikin", which is the name of a company that produced brightly-coloured, friendly-looking PVC cartoon characters like Popeye and Mighty Mouse.
-
@Andrew: well, yeah- obviously. I mean, that's why I said I didn't know how to describe the "DEADPOOL!!!"-fanbase. At the same time, I don't know if there would be so many "WHAAmbulance" chasers...or "BAW"ers...wait, what were you trying to say? =^D (kidding!) Anyway, I don't know if there would be so many complaining about this 'direction' if they changed Will.I.Am's character (the vampiric mutant? I forget.) into Weapon XI. (Also -more obviously- there Are several cancelled Deadpool series...and less-than-that-many Gambit series, and even fewer vampire-mutant-not-Blade series...you know?)
-
Our only hope is that Wade Wilson doesn't become this Deadpool. But then why not just call Barakapool WeaponXI if he's a different character than Wade? Why confuse people if they're trying to spin Wade/Deadpool off into his own movie? if this isn't Wade, why is his mouth sewn up? If it is Wade, why wouldn't he tear out the stitches so he can make lewd comments about Bea Arthur while kicking ass? If he's mind controlled by goo from Stryker's son, why do they need stitches to shut him up? Why go out of your way to hire Ryan Reynolds and teach him to swordfight to make fans happy, then piss them off by bastardizing Deadpool like this? WeaponXI looks ridiculous anyway. Mr. Sinister or Apocalypse could make something like that, but it's too advanced for Stryker, especially this early. Why didn't Stryker have a bunch of even more advanced omnipotent mutants by X-Men 2 if he could already make them when humanity barely knew about mutants?
-
Ok I am going back to my stand months ago. Boycott the movie, fox tried to screw over watchmen and now they prove that if you give them a simple thing like Wolverine, they pass it to a monkey that poops on his typewriter.
-
Yeah. Deadpool's got such a huge fucking fanbase! That's why Cable & Deadpool's still going strong! Oh, wait. It got cancelled. Just like all the Deadpool shit before it. The new Deadpool book's gonna tank just like all of the others, because, seriously, no matter how much you guys BAW for the WHAAAmbulance, Wolverine's where the money and popularity's at.
-
Unfortunately this seems like the stupid kind of shit that Fox would pull. Instead of introducing OMEGA RED as the big villain, which would have made sense, they have turned Deadpool into Baraka from Mortal Kombat. Hopefully Midway will sue Fox for all the money they make on this movie.
-
Really guys? Even after all the packaging and whatnot? "Reshoots probably changed it! They'll...they'll be two different peoples!" No- they made a "condensed" story that, coincidentally, royally fucked up the One character in the movie that has ...such a fanbase (not sure how to describe the DEADPOOL!!!! fans, myself included). And, from a person-that-wouldn't-care-about-Deadpool-standpoint, it makes sense- "How do we end this movie? Who's going to be the enemy? Who do we have Wolverine and Sabretooth fight? We need to keep them around in the 'universe'...Oh, and what are we going to do about having Deadpool get all scarred up and -OMG LoLRealizationZ (Evolution)!" <- that's exactly what happened. If anything, the test screenings probably had a bunch of people say, "What? They just go on their separate paths? Wolvering doesn't kill Sabretooth, even though he's been a complete asshole this entire time? WHO'S THE ENEMY?!" I'm just going to keep writing until my tears stop...*sigh, nevermind, back to work.
-
The Neverending Story remake, probably.
-
Ok I am hoping that Nick Marino and Rkidwes are right on this one. I am thinking that it is not really Deadpool, maybe it was at first but the test screening went bad so they changed it up. I hope. I can't wait for this movie to be out for nothing else then not having to have my hopes destroyed. Of course Tansformers and GI Joe are still coming out. Man after G.I Joe, transfomrers, woverine, he's just not that into you, watchmen, dragonball and thier soft core porn counter parts come out, what will there be left to fear?
-
:'(
-
Right now, in hope that they haven't royally fucked it up I'm inclined to go with Nick Marino and say this is what all the reshoot business was about. If he was initially Reynolds' stuntman then making Weapon XI in to his own character would make sense to give the role to Scott Adkins bloke. They did a test screen, fans of Deadpool were appalled so they went about changing the story with reshoots - problem solved...we all hope!
-
Look at all the mutants that are supposedly in the third X-Men movie including 'Kid Omega' and 'Psylocke' that they both fucked up AND failed to have named properly onscreen. They fucked Deadpool up. (Also, since there's another 'Zach' that posts here, I'm gonna add my last initial to avoid confusion.)
-
IMDB has Deadpool and Weapon XI listed as 2 separate people...That still gives me hope...Very thin, tiny, easily breakable hope....
-
Could Weapon XI be Daken?? I thought he was killed by Deadpool, but the cover of a new comic has got me puzzled. (Daken with claws and a katana fighting Wolverine.)Check out the summary for it, released in April 2009: "WOLVERINE: ORIGINS #35 Written by DANIEL WAY Pencils & Cover by DOUG BRAITHWAITE "WEAPON XI" During the darkest days of the Cold War a weapon was forged; more powerful, more fearsome and more adaptable than any the world had ever seen. The world has since changed…and so, too, must the weapon that could one day destroy it. Evolution cannot be stopped, but there is one man –Wolverine, for the love of his son—who is going to try. Part 3 (of 5). 32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$2.99 Daken has tribal tattoos, which could've been changed to those strange scars. And he's got some claws similar to Logans... I don't know. I'm going to stop now... cos if I had a brain, it would hurt right now.
-
CURSE YOU, FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXX!!!!![Andross]
-
damnit so i guess i was sorta right! but sorta wrong too.
-
...Does it seem to anyone else that Fox hates humanity? I can imagine no other reason why they would rape multiple characters and franchises this way. Also, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
"Weapon XI No individual with the 'Weapon XI' moniker has been seen, but John Sublime has mentioned it. Scott Adkins has reportedly been cast as Weapon XI in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine[1] Weapon XI's powers include several abilities from mutants in the film, such as forearm claws and optic blasts." So according to Wiki (reliable?)the singularly clawed man is Weapon XI, not Deadpool. *sigh of relief for now...*
-
Nick Marino and xj911 have given me new hope. Perhaps they won't screw up Deadpool. We'll see. As much as I'd love to not see the movie until I know for sure, this trailer has convinced me that even if they did screw up Deadpool, it will be still be an awesome movie on par with batman begins. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.
-
It all may just be a wacky plot twist where Reynolds becomes Deadpool after Snikt-bub and Victor Creed defeat Weapon 11/Deadpool. Also, why the hell aren't they using Victor Creed instead of Sabretooth? So confused
-
ok, so earlier, I saw this (un-updated) post, and thought "must be weapon XI, no other explanation". then I came back onto TR just now, to read the newer headlines, and got AMAZINGLY excited about Daft Punk doing the Tron 2.0 soundtrack. Then scrolled down a bit more. then read this. now any film ideas of deadpool have been completely ruined for me. Thanks a lot, Gavin Hood. Thanks a lot, David Benioff. Thanks a lot, 20th century Fox, that's 2 films you've ruined so far this year (with Dragonball)
-
DAMNIT! Why do they have to take a fantastic character and totally screw him up. I was riding a movie high after TDK and Iron Man. Hell even Hulk wasn't too bad. At least in that movie you could at any point see Iron Man fly from behind a building a believe they existed in the same 'universe'. But this...why do they have to screw up the XMen series so badly? I may not even see it now...how disappointing.
-
I just can't get over how happy everyone looks in the Superhero Squad picture. THEY HAVE FUCKING KNIVES COMING OUT THEIR HANDS AND THEY ARE ABOUT TO FIGHT (end caps). It looks more like the three of them are waiting for the ice-cream truck.
-
http://www.mtv.com/photos/final-x-men-origins-wolverine-trailer-images/1606337/3644705/photo.jhtml okay so that link has one of MTV's pics of "Weapon XI" who is clearly not labeled as Deadpool and definitely is not played by Reynolds. i think the toy stuff is either misdirection or based on a plot decision that was changed around the time of the reshoots (is that even possible???).
-
Why did they even bother making him Deadpool if they were gonna fuck it up so badly?
-
Is it really any surprise they ruined another comic book character for a lame ass movie? Sure Deadpool is cool and all, but I saw this coming when they announced the friggin movie. It's a Wolverine movie. Who the fuck needs MORE Wolverine. Fuck Wolverine. Hairy canadian.
-
DEAD...pool? Wait, what? MY GOD X-MEN ORIGINS WHAT AM YOU DOING.
-
honestly, i think Gambit looks FUCKING awesome!!! he's even got the pink power signature. i thought he would be the lamest translation from comics to screen, but it looks like Wade Wilson has that distinction. i really hope that this Deadpool thing is just some sort of Mister Sinister scheme or something like that. and by the end of the movie, we have Deadpool in his regular duds. i dunno... maybe they just liked his name and decided to really fuck stuff up. Mimic, however, would make a ton more sense for this movie and the "ultimate mutant" character role (and would also explain the laser eyes shit).
-
If that is Deadpool, fuck this movie and fuck everything I have ever loved
-
It says in that imdb entry that Weapon XI is Deadpool, just after being experimented on...still it's all rumours. Don't be true, don't be true...
-
Was that Walker: Texas Ranger's sidekick in there?
-
I am not trying to be a buzzkill because I want this movie to be good. I am now very nervous after seeing this trailer. The previous trailer got me all stoked with flashbacks of Logan in WWII etc. This looks like a big jumble of fun FX and I am thinking thats going to be about it. Oh and is anyone else pissed off that Deadpool doesn't wear his mask? Does anyone else think Gambit looks like a fruitcake?
-
Weapon XI is Mimic?
-
You know what that trailer needs? More gratuitous animal noises.
-
Yeah now I'm convinced that's weapon XI. After browsing threw the web for stuff on weapon XI they all say that he's played by Reynolds stunt double, he's in the final fight sequence with Logan, and he somehow pulled mutant powers for the majority of them in the film. So my final verdict Hasbro screwed up with the packaging or something along those lines.
-
Weapon XI. Packaging Eff up. http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0075039/
-
It looks like Weapon XI to me to
-
His name is Weapon XI and he is played by Scott Adkins. END OF STORY.
-
Although I really, REALLY hope that's not Deadpool I'm pretty certain that it is. If you pause the trailer it kinda looks like Ryan Reynolds face. Kinda... I'm so confused.
