First off -- let me declare that I never cared for the Harry Potter books. I read 'em, I thought they were fine kids' books, but I did not think they were brilliant and I have no idea what the fuss was about. Now, the same deal with the movies, but I will say this -- the people who make the trailers for the Harry Potter movies are absolute geniuses, because they've make Half-Blood Prince look incredibly awesome, certainly far beyond the actual awesomeness of the finished product. they do this every time, for every movie. Well done.
Also, note that this Potter flick is warning of "mild sensuality" in the flick. I'm calling it now -- the first film of Deathly Hallows will be rated R for nudity and sexual situations, and the second will feature hardcore Gryffindor-on-Hufflepuff action, rendering all further Potter fanfic unnecessary. In my dreams.

I didn't even bother seeing Order of the Phoenix, and the later books disappointed me horribly, really @_o but the trailer does look good.
I like how they managed to make it look like Muggles get the least inkling of what's going on. Spoiler alert: they don't.

The last three books are anything but kids' books (unless kid is someone less than 30 in your view), so I'm going to call bullshit on the idea that you read all of them. Given that this book (and maybe the film?) involves a scene with a zombie army and a pretty graphic and bloody goring of another student, I doubt it is just a kids' book.
I'm not a pottermaniac nor do I think the books are superbly written, but the way the plot was planned and executed is on a level far beyond 99% of most schlock writers today. That's probably why they're popular.
TBH I thought the previous movies' trailers looked like shit compared to the finished product. This looks pretty damn good, though, so I'm hoping the finished product will be decent. I'm still not sure I'll watch it in-house though, probably just wait for it on DVD.

You wrote a dissertation on Final Fantasy VII, yet dismiss the Potter books as nothing more than decent children's books? Ah well, at least the books don't become retarded fan fiction that the Twilight series is.
I've liked all the books and the movies have been enjoyable (though I'm still disappointed there's been no Extended Versions filmed for double dips later). I was already looking forward to this, but the trailer really amps up the anticipation.
I'd watch YOUR version of Deathly Hallows, though.

I did read each book, and I'm extremely excited about the movie. But I would still consider this a young-adult type series.
I love the trailers and the movies are even pretty good themselves. I can't wait for Half Blood prince!!!
That said, the last 2 books felt especially rushed, and in Deathly Hallows it almost felt as if she wasn't prepared for the ending and tried to sow up too many loose ends into other loose ends. They backtracked and relinked a lot of loose plot that felt unnatural. And the way they just dropped the Dumbledore backstory and the Hallows story was very abrupt considering it had not even once been mentioned previously.

I think how it's funny that the submitter of this article claims he/she read all of the books and then proceeds to show us that he/she has no fucking idea what they is talking about.

I'm still not sure I get how someone could be more excited about a G.I. Joe Cartoon than the movie that trailer is promoting... but whatever.

At 1.43 of that trailer....is that an army of Gollumns??
Each movie has been fairly ordinary up to this stage, but the strange phenomenon is that you feel less and less guilty about checking out Emma Watson with each newer movie. By the last movie I'll be openly jerk off to her. (Well maybe not, but you get the pint)

Somewhere on the internet -- and I say this without knowing of it beforehand or googling it (yet) -- there must exist a count-down clock until Emma Watson is 18. I would bet my left nut on it (and that's the good nut).
Unless she's 18 already (?)

Looked it up and she turned 18 last April, apparently. Wank away, my friends. Wank away.
(but yes there had been such a countdown clock prior to that)

Because some of us have taste, simply enough. ;)

Mild sensuality?
Is that due to the Dumbledore flashbacks?
j/k.
Anyways, I'll be the seeing the movie. I didn't read the books, but I did "listen" to them on audio. Curious to see how they translate this one. As far as "...how someone could be more excited about a G.I.Joe Cartoon..."
Well, speaking as a Joe fan, I'm excited for GI Joe Resolute because its closer to the material than the upcoming live action movie. Its the version of Joe I've been waiting so long for. Not the blue/red laser Joe, but something that was that's closer to the old Larry Hama Marvel comics (issues 20-50).

But will there be...oh, yes, thank god. There will be quiddich. That makes me so happy. My bladder would never be able to handle these three-hour monstrosities without adequate bathroom breaks.

Mightily impressive trailer indeed. I agree with your assessment of the books 100% as well, although I've found that the movies do seem to be getting better as they go along, whether because the actors are getting more experienced or because the movies are becoming a bit darker. Probably a bit of both.
Here's hoping for a topless shot of Emma Watson in the next one though...

Not so sure about Emma Watson getting nude, but it's been rumoured that Daniel Radcliffe is in the Deathly Hallows, after JK Rowling saw Equus. My guess is that it's either in the 7 Potters chapter, where the 6 fake Harrys all get naked, and dress like Harry, which would be in the first film. I guess it could also be the scene where Harry almost drowns, trying to get the sword of Gryffindor, and is then saved by Ron, this would probably in the second Deathly Hallows film.

@Gia, you missed out. Phoenix had, by far, the best on-screen wizard duel filmed. Half-blood looks to beat it.

Dismissing this series is ignorant.
Rowling is one of the greatest story tellers of our time, no matter to whom she's telling to. The foreshadowing in these books are masterful, as is the way the books are told.
The movies have been crap since the first one. This one looks pretty good, though. I'm hoping the director read the series and actually understands it.
The little weasel that plays Harry needs to go, though. He's perfect for the part, but a douche IRL. Oh well, Hermione and Rons' sister are hawt. That's worth the $12.
Now i have to read the series again, tho, so Foff for that.
Thanks!

Well, yeah, he is a douche. He's one of the richest child actors in the world and had money before he knew what the fuck to do with it. Apparently Emma Watson is both nerdy and hot though, so I could care less.

@ WadevsTheWorld - Yeah, what's with the horde of Gollums at 1.43?!
Also, I totally noticed that mild sensuality in the trailer. There was definite hand-holding, a kiss and then an almost-kiss. How risqué.

The Gollum-like creatures at 1.43 are Neferi, basically dead bodies that have been magically reanimated to do the casters bidding, in this case, Voldemort.
