There'll be a new anime airing on Japanese TV shortly, titled Qwaser of Stigmata, based on a manga (and yes, it's possible it should be "quasar" instead of "qwaser," but this isn't the important bit). In it, the Qwasers -- part of an Eastern Orthodox school called Saint Mihailov Academy -- a group of powerful people called adepts. It would be your standard dark fantasy series, except that the Qwasers gain their powers through... er, breast milk. Which means they have to nurse. A lot.
...yeah. Now understand that this is an utterly serious fantasy tale, and one that will be airing on TV at that, so it's not just pervert material, although it should go without saying that the mystical ladies who nurse the heroes gain seemingly sexual pleasure from the Quasars' suckling. I would find this horrendously disturbing if it were just some hentai series, but the fact that it's intended for mass audiences makes me want to drink scotch in bed until I black out.
Although when I first saw AnimeVice's headline of "Breast-feeding Manga Gets Anime," I was fairly certain that it was going to be a sports-type series about a girl determined to become the best breast-feeder in Japan. If anyone made it, I'm sure it'll run for at least 42 volumes.

@genryu maybe true, but the difference is per capita. That, and the japanese social structure is extremly different than that of the USA. What gets reported as a sex crime in the US might get swept under the rug in japan. mollested on the train? cops are everywhere here. but in japan? just another day on the way to school.

Wow. I see a few people with some hatred issues. And a few people spouting what seems to be significant sexual repression (mainly those assuming that Japan [oddly as a whole] is sexually repressed). What gets me is the fact that people think all this stuff is strange. It's just another of those instances were in a person is more critical of an outsider than themselves (basic human nature). Everyone is a pervert. This is even more true if you think you are 'normal'. I envy Japan's ability to express their perversions so openly. As for the series... could be good, could be bad. I'll have to see it to know.

I've already read the manga, and it's pretty good if you look past the breast feeding, and besides it's really not that big a deal, now if it were LIVE ACTION, I'd be slightly more worried, but it's not and besides if 12 year old kids watch porn illegally, Japan can sure as hell make this and make money off of it. You say Japan is sliding further into depravity? Have you seen the state in which the US is in? Not just on sex but intellectually, morally, physically, EVERYTHING is wrong with it.

I don't see what the big deal is. Fate/Stay Night was a visual novel that contained hentai scenes for the restoration of mana. The anime simply left that plot point out. That's what this series will end up doing, changing the breast milk plot point slightly.

FINALLY! A manga and anime that ridiculously uses my church in blasphemous ways. Sure, you got your strange Catholicism in Berserk and Chrono Crusade and shojo manga Priest. Yet finally someone made a total BS take on the Eastern Orthodox Christian church. Just read one chapter and they're talking about an icon of the Theotokos (The Greek name for the Virgin Mary) of Tsartsyn. And they show Mary breast feeding Christ as a child. Of course the story uses this holy image to promote a lactation fetish and sex slavery. Japan is awesome. lol. I find it too ridiculous to be really offended. Wow. This exists because someone gets a boner from looking at the Virgin Mary breast feeding. in japan everything is a fetish... and we mean EVERYTHING.

Okay this is BS. I can't image it being anything of a sexual nature. If anything, Japan has become much more conservative when it comes to cartoon nudity than they used to be. Look at some anime from the 80s where nipples and boobs were plentiful. Then start looking at the 90s where sexytime was starting to be replaced by extreme violence much like we Americans have slapped PG13 or R ratings on stuff if a tit or the shit word is used which in the 80s would have been PG. One the other hand, extreme violence and death here gets a PG13 rating. Shit Robocop back in the day was going to get a X rating. Today Robocop would easily get an R and if some of the more graphic scenes were edited out with a little less blood it would get a PG13 rating even though the entire movie is violent as fuck. Japan has gone the same route. Innocent, ha ha, sexy jokes like in Ranma 1/2, Dragonball, Urusei Yatsura, Tenchi Muyo, etc. are replaced by more violent shows and any boobs have been de-nipplized (yes Sailor Moon I'm looking at your naked episode 200 battle, where's the nips). I'm sure this will be weird and it will work in a freaky Japanese way, but don't expect this to be some kind of hentai series. It may be a little more ecchi than most, but I doubt it will be any worse than Family Guy with Peter Griffin trying to breast feed Stewey.
