Damn. For the first time... well, ever, I give a shit about the Duke Nukem franchise. An ex-3D Realms employee distributed this footage of the game to developers -- my guess is he was looking to work -- and thanks to the glory of the internet, we can all enjoy it. First, be warned -- there's a brief view of digital nipples, so you might consider this NS4W. Second, the game looks -- er, looked -- pretty damn good, with a spectacular amount of character animations both for Duke and his enemies. Enjoy and regret. (Via I Heart Chaos)

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that we've seen more footage for Duke Nukem Forever in the 2 weeks that 3D Realms has been closed than in the 12 years the game has been in development?

Looks like this game was ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Too bad it was all out of kick ass.

12 years...maybe they were just trying to wait for an entirely new generation of their customer base to be bred and raised before they actually tried to work on it.

Well, it looked mildly entertaining, even fairly at some points, until I realized that it took 12 years for 3D Realm to reach a level of graphics that look dated by 2008 standard.
I'm guessing six of those years was for coming up with the "Duke-watches-his-lower-body-everytime-he-get's-up-routine".

the animation on those pig baddies looks pretty good. Was never too big a fan of the series, but this looks fun.

Given the track records of 3D Realms, I suspect that this game would've been super-buggy if it were ever released. (It'd probably take them seven or eight years to produce a patch.)

I don't know what everyone else was seeing, but it wasn't anything that couldn't be done with a Half Life 2 mod.

I was sold at topless stripper. Although that voice actor was probably the worst I've ever heard.

I like the fact that it seemed like there was some different areas to fight in, like a football stadium (with bright greens). Grey and brown warehouses and factories are getting boring.

Damn, that looked good. I forgot how much fun Duke games were. We need a good non-pc game right about now...
