• Reorder just hit, more on the way!

• I wish I had checked this before I went down today! Thanks for the attempted heads-up, Ed. Fortunately, one of the nice ladies in the Guggenheim store is going to call me when they're in.

• ORANGUTAN - just a head's up - the store has sold out of their initial shipment of Guggenheim models and the next shipment is not due to hit until Tuesday the 26th. It doesn't look like Fallingwater has released yet....

• After blogging about it myself yesterday, someone commented that they started this line last year with a few models, like the one NoXylophone linked above for the Sears Tower, in a joint effort with brickstructures.com and the sets they've done so far (Sears Tower, John Hancock, Space Needle, Empire State Building) have been about $20-30 apiece and you can get them on their site. Considering ordering the Chicago pair, and definitely hunting down Fallingwater (which looks a bit more elaborate, probably in the $50 range?).

• I am going to the Guggenheim this coming Sunday, so unless someone beats me to it, I will update with what I find and (probably) purchase. :)

• UPDATE: I'm thinking of Modulex, which wasn't for architectural design, but for making easily changeable signs that look professionally lettered. Introduced in 1963, these bricks were smaller than normal LEGOs, and were not compatible. However, there were enough shape and color variations so that you could make some reasonably detailed sculptures with them. ...And as they're not marketed at the LEGO crowd, the rates charged for these bricks were about 7x more per brick. Still, if you want to play with these, best bet is to catch them on eBay when some architectural firm has decided to quit using them and has about 1/4 million of them to either sell or toss out.

• ...Didn't LEGO once come out with a "professional" series of parts for architectural use?

• Well I cant imagine it would be that expensive. Looks like maybe a few hundred pieces at most on a standard half-baseplate. 39.99 maybe? http://cache.lego.com/images/architecture/770x622comingsoon.jpg From the lego website. That's 100 pieces top. Now, quick, make me a set of the Burj Dubai!

• You kids with yer fancy Lego AT-AT's and modern american architecture kits. Back in my youth you didn't have any of this fancy articulation and licensed merchandise, you had 12 different blocks and 5 colors and you were happy with that! It looks like you would have to have some sort of Lego obsessive compulsive disorder to build that kit btw.

• Just imagine....Lego versions of the Statue of Liberty, the Sydney Opera House, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Alcatraz...any famous langmark/building! I'd rob Ft. Knox just to buy them...HEY! Ft. Knox is another Lego set begging to made! (Sets based on LOST would be totally tits!)
