Something starring Elizabeth Mitchell and Jackie Earl Haley? I'm there. Especially since it's based on something that I enjoyed many years ago, and there's not much chance of screwing it up.

And frankly, I want it to succeed. I want ABC to see that scifi IS profitable (Like LOST is) and give the big "fuck you" to FOX for canceling every decent scifi series they've had outside of X-Files.

This looks very cool, especially since I just re-watched the original series on DVD. Always nice to see Elizabeth "I guess this means I really did die in the finale of Lost" Mitchell. The whole "looks like Independence Day" thing doesn't bother me since to be fair, ID4 was basically a re-imaginging of the original V (right down to the giant suacer ships hovering over cities)

Lizard aliens using religion and goodwill to earn our trust so they can exterminate us? What's to freak out about?

Cool stuff, I just hope they come up with a good reason for them to gain our trust. I mean, what do you need skin-suits and television interviews for when all you need to do is chuck down a couple of comets and move on in.

I prefer my aliens butt ugly, but I'm willing to give this a chance. I hope it meets expectations, cause we have lots to compare it to - the bad, Steve's War of the Worlds - and the good - Pyramids of Mars (good, in a kind of retro/cheesy, fun way). I guess we just have to wait.

...According to the various reports, this is intended to be a "limited series" of only about 11 to 13 eps. Which means midway through they'll drop half the cast in a cost-cutting move, and the ratings will go down the toilet because they'll drop the one cast member all the fans like.

Which, of course, is exactly what they did the first time around...

A Limited series that will air 2 eps on ABC, then get moved to ABC Family, then the Sci-Fi channel...

The one thing I don't like (aside from the lack okf Morena's hair) is the way the ships look.

I prefer the saucer shapes of the old series, and for them to be larger and more epic looking.

I love that they got Joel Gretsch (Tom Baldwin from the 4400) back on the air in a mystery-styled sci-fi show.

and looking at the comment Independence Day? Really? Wasn't V first? And Clarke's Childhood's End had the whole ships appearing over major world cities before that. I liked ID4, but it gets way too much credit for stuff it copied from elsewhere.

loved the original version . and juliet looks like she will put Dinah from the original to shame. hope the new version does not go the star child route in the end.

Can I be the first to say, enough with the remakes? It's bad enough that every big movie this summer is a remake or "re-imagining" (Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Harry Potter 6, Terminator, etc). Do we really need to remake TV series from the 1980's? Can't anyone have an original idea any more?
And even if the producers want to make a show which is political allegory about today's society, why use the "V" show? Why can't the producers create their own characters and situations?

This looks very cool. I had a chance to read the pilot and really enjoyed it. It looks like they haven't skimped on the production either. And, c'mon, it's always quality sci-fi TV if you've got the dude from TAKEN and 4400, right?

And hey, John, I'm mostly with you on the anti-remake bandwagon (particularly when it comes to horror movies), but if we get BATMAN BEGINS/DARK KNIGHT, the new STAR TREK, and the new BSG out of the trend, then I'll happily endure the TRANSFORMERS and GI JOEs. And for the record, the writing on this pilot was much more towards the BSG (good) end of the spectrum.

(Also I don't think it's quite fair to lump SALVATION and HARRY POTTER into that mix, since they're just further entries into ongoing franchises.)

Looks good...but I miss the cool uniforms, the echo effect voices and giant Ray Ban shades. I'm hoping they keep the original's hot human/alien sexin' and mutated lizard babies, but leave out the shitty "sparkle baby" ending.

I was a teen when the original came out, and it was the first big TV phenomenon that I remember. Hope it lives up to the trailer, and lasts more than one season. (tends to happen to the really good Sci-Fi shows...)

This actually looks good. I am cautiously optimistic. The first V totally freaked me out as a kid, hopefully this one can engage cynical, old adult me.

I am an enormous fan of the original and can't wait for the remake. Looks really good too. And fuck that Independence Day bit. ID totally ripped off V but without the plot.
