R.I.P. Duke Nukem Forever, Never – Hell Freezes Over

Duke Nukem Forever was announced in 1997. It has miraculously not come out in any of the last dozen years, and now — and please brace yourself, because this is going to blow your mind — it’s probably not going to. Wired reports that Nukem developer 3D Realms has been shut down, and all its employees let go.
It’s always sad when people lose their jobs, but it’s a little still funny, because it really hasn’t changed Duke Nukem Forever‘s odds of getting released, which was pretty much 0%. Plus, it’s hard not to imagine the 3D Realms crew popping the champagne, one minute away from the final mouse click that would send the game out for manufacturing, when the bossman broke the terrible news. So close!
