On Blu-ray. Not coincidentally, the Ghostbusters videogame also hits today. It's going to be a pricey day for some people.
• Burn Notice Season 2
The perfect summer show? I say yes. It's as cool and stylish and unflappable as Bruce Campbell's chin.
• Lost: Seasons 1 & 2
On Blu-ray as well. You know, I love Lost, but I don't think I need to own it. I'm honestly not sure that the final answers are going to be that satisfying, but man, the journey to get there has been incredible. So without thpse weekly surprises and shocks, I don't know how much I want to watch Lost again. Just a thought.
• Transformers: Complete First Season
Three discs full of remastered episodes, original toy commercials and more. The only excuse for not getting it is because you're saving up for the complete series collection at SDCC.
• Spaceballs
On Blu-ray. Spaceballs introduced me to the word "ludicrous," so I will always be eternally gratefull to it.
• Rifftrax
There's a ton of cheap Rifftrax DVDs coming out today. I'd say the Shorts Vol. 1 and Vol 2 are absolutely essential, because they're shorts. But there's also Night of the Living Dead, Carnival of Souls, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Reefer Madness and more... all for only $10 each.
• Garfield's Pet Force
I don't know what the fuck this is, but it shows Garfield and his cartoon-mates in superhero outfits. It scares the shit out of me.

I'm ashamed that I know this, but Garfield's Pet Force is based on a children's book of the same name (one of which I was given for my b-day YEARS ago). Basically, Garfield and friends have alternate universe counterparts that are superheroes. Said superheroes get captured, and the gang is dragged from our universe to theirs to save them, whilst inheriting their respective superpowers.
...Why did someone think to make this a movie 10+ years after it was written is beyond me.

How in the hell did I manage to preorder Ghostbusters, yet forget Spaceballs? I'm ashamed of myself...

I happened to see Spaceballs before I saw Star Wars. It was probably one of the first parodies I saw (I was in the beginning of my teen years then, I think). When I finally saw Star Wars, I just couldn't take it seriously, it kept reminding me Spaceballs too much.

If you want to cut your cost today and get both the game and the blue ray of Ghostbusters. Do this
Hit up your local Toys R Us, grab their ad, they are giving you a $20 gift card if you buy the game. Take that ad to Best Buy, walk up there with both the game and the blue ray have them price match the ad and you get the movie for free

Why do the cases for Ghostbusters always look so cheap/dumb? Original poster was the symbol against a black background, yet the last DVD release and this Blu Ray release have different colors with wavy effects. Why? Black background, how hard can it be?
I've bought the Riff shorts already, but will probably jump on the DVDs (although I did buy the Legends Films version which were Mike Nelson solo riffs. That's what I get for jumping the gun...

My wife and I got into Lost after Season 1 was released on DVD, and we've collected all the seasons since. My wife insists on re-watching all the previous episodes before the new season starts.
Outside of the dreary third season, it really does bear re-watching, because there are still things that we pick up in the first couple of seasons that have paid off in the most recent season, and I'm sure there will be others that will be explained in the final season (like the fact that the first time a character--not us--actually sees the smoke monster, Locke later describes it as white).

Guys, do yourself a favor and get on the Burn Notice wagon.
1) Michael Weston, the lead character is wise cracking spy who can drive, shoot or fight his way out of any situation.
2) Fiona Glennanne, his on/off girlfriend, is a hot chick who smuggles guns and loves blowing shit up!
3) The forever cool Bruce Campbell plays Mike's best friend Sam, a former CIA agent who uses his connections to help Mike...when he's not busy banging rich women and driving hot cars.
Action...Comedy...Mystery...Guns...Bruce Campbell's chin...Half Naked Hotties on Miami Beach! What more could you want!?

I just picked up Transformers Season 1 at my local Wal-Mart for 19.99. I haven't had time to watch a whole episode yet, but I did peruse 2 of the discs and the colors look sharp and the animation very clear.

Actually, Garfield's Pet Force was a series of four books, if I remember right. They were amusing, but really not worth a movie.

I agree with FuryOfFirestorm. Burn Notice is so very much fun to watch. I have even forgived them for killing off Karla {Tricia Helfer (Caprica 6)) at the end of season 2. I loved seeing Dina Meyer (Dizzy Flores (Starship Trooper)) as Michael's old girlfriend/partner in crime. I started watching the series for Bruce Campbell but I stayed for the rest of the cast and the writing.

In case anyone is wondering, the Ghostbusters game is very good. I picked it up today at GameStop, since they had a "trade 3 get $10 bonus credit" deal going. I ended up paying less than $5 for the PC version, which has native support for Xbox 360 controllers (with rumble!).
I'm not sure how far I am, but it's very cool how they implement the locations (and ghosts) from the movies, but without any sort of cheap flashbacks or "training room" or anything like that. It's all original content, yet you as a player still get to experience the Hotel Sedgewick, the Library, the Museum, and most of the popular ghosts.
It has a lot of great unspoken, visual jokes for fans of the series, and even a few little nods to the animated "Real Ghostbusters". Here's one (and it's not really a spoiler): If you peek in the storage room behind Peter's office, you can see the sign and doors/door decals from Ghostbusters II depicting the ghost giving the "V" (or "2") sign. They're buried under other bits of unused junk!
There's a lot of love for the series in this game. Newspaper clippings on the walls, conversations that call back jokes from the original, and you can even use slide down the firehouse poles.
It's still a squad-based shooter at heart, but it's got a good story that is honestly a bit better than GB2 in some ways. It's frankly awesome that they managed to get so many members of the original cast (Atherton!) along with some surprises (Brian Doyle Murray is in this, too!) and, yeah, Alyssa Milano (whom I really like, but have to admit she has a rather high-pitched, childlike voice).
And if you're not much of a shooter-player, you can always play it on beginner mode and enjoy the story.
I guess from a gamer's point of view, I'd have to say that you'll enjoy Ghostbusters if you enjoyed Bioshock. It's not a FPS, though-- It's third-person shoooter. You're behind your character's back the whole time. Controls are logical and work well, and it really does handle the whole ghost-catching thing convincingly. It's a blast to use the conventional method of weakening, grabbing, and trapping the ghosts... But some of the more advanced tools are fun too. Just wait till you get to play with the slime tether..!
If you had doubts, I say don't worry. It's worth a purchase and if you don't mind missing out on the multiplayer anjd have a beefy computer, you can get the PC version and spend 1/2 as much as the console versions for the same single-player experience (in higher resolution).
