I bought Wolverine,Gambit,and Spidey in the 3 3/4 scale before I came to the same realisation you did. To have a decent lineup of characters would mean rebuying way too many figures,in a new smaller size,with a new shittier sculpt. Not to mention,EIGHT DOLLARS?! Call me old fashioned,that seems a little much. At least Joes come with accesories.

You know, it might seem like the Legends well is pretty dry, but there's a lot of cool looking B-listers (or lower) that could be done. We'll set aside some that are allegedly out there--NOVA! TIGRA!--but I'd like to see Quasar, Nighthawk, Valkyrie, Hellcat, the Shroud, Shuma-Gorath, Jack of Hearts, Batroc, the Two-Gun Kid, Mockingbird, Stingray, Darkhawk, Killraven, Star-Lord, Moondragon...to say nothing of the virtually impossible holy grails like ROM. Play their cards right, and Hasbro will have a direct line to my wallet for years to come.

I always love the build-a-figure idea for the line. I wish I had gotten Fing Fang Foom though. You have to love the giant purple pants.

actually all the figures they are going to show are not going to come out. they are going to unveil 16-18 figures which will be part of a new fan poll. the top 3 chosen by fans go into 3 new 2packs for 2010, and hasbro will choose the figure that goes with them from the same list.

I really love the Marvel Universe line. I just reviewed Red Hulk over at the blog and also have reviews of the Green Hulk, Thing and a bunch of others. Of course I've reviewed quite a few Legends too and I do like them, but I think the MU line is where the future of the Marvel license is going. They're just milking the ML fans for a few final dollars.

I would still kill a hobo or twelve for that Angel figure. There are a few others I think are awesome but that Angel one is just amazing

This news just made my day. Finally, after long last, I'll get to own a real Multiple Man action figure! Obviously someone read my entry in the "What Action Figure Needs to be Made" contest.

I want more "What If?" inspired figures, so I can assemble an Avengers roster of mutually-incompatible backstories.

On the other hand, the Marvel Universe line is good for stripping for parts to create fiendish G.I. Joe-scale customs.

As for the OP, I'm pleased for the Legends fans that they'll be getting some more characters in action figure form, but Marvel Universe is where it's at for me, as I've been a 3 3/4" collector for most of my life and they fit in better with the bulk of my collection.

Speaking of 3 3/4" toys though, Rob, why don't you do a post on the upcoming Rise of Cobra G.I. Joe movie line? Those figures are awesome! Just take a look at this Snake Eyes:

Monte, I have never heard of Howard the Duck, but then again I don't know shit about comics. I might be able to tell the names of 5 guys in the picture..and those might not even be right.

I really want this too be true, i really, really want this to be good news but it's Hasbro and they have fucked up an awful lot since stamping all over Toybiz to aquire this license. The MU line just isn't cutting it with the odd exception (Cap and Deadpool and those using the same scuplt like Union-jack)) and the cost is ridiculous so at least for the price I want a bit more bang for my buck like you used to get with Legends.

We'd BETTER get that Dum Dum Dugan figure that was in the works....word is,the Iron Man/Maria Hill 2-pack comes with an alternate head for Sharon Carter,but the Fury/Hand 2-pack DOES NOT include the Dum Dum Head...instead you get a masked and goggled random SHIELD agent. I WANTS MY DUM DUM HASBRO!!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME!!!!!! DUM DUM!!!!!!!

I love the Marvel Universe line (except the inevitable eBaying of the ones I can't find at stores - both Ms. Marvels, Grey Hulk, etc. - blech) and I hope that line goes on for many years and hundreds of characters.

But I have bought a few Marvel Legends over the years. Man-Thing, 70s Ghost Rider, first Punisher, Werewolf by Night, Simon Garth Zombie. Nice figures all. I might grab a Multiple Man.

Templar, I hope that's true about a Dazzler in the Marvel Universe line. I'd be equallty happy with a toy of her in that scale. Geez, Dazzler hasn't had a figure since the 1990s Toy Biz line, and it wasn't a great one. (I'm not counting the HeroClix.)

My (probably unhealthy) Dazzler mania was documented in two or three Toyfare letter columns...

nice to see that hasbro is not letting marvel legends die for there are too many characters yet to be made that would fit better in that line for did not care for the 3-4 line. and a couple of those choices should be cloak and dagger for one of the two packs and that valkerie figure that was suppose to be in the fing fang foom wave. then i will be happy again over the line

A Multiple Man Marvel Legend would make my life.. well as long as it's Madrox now with his jacket and such. old style looks is kinda meh.

anyway, Marvel Legends are too awesome to have disappeared in the first place so this is great news.

I understand the frustration at the new scale. And I was pretty furious at the $8-$10 price! Remember just a few years ago when $8 got you a 6" figure and a sentinel leg? Hulk Legends were pricey, but almost every figure was huge, although you did have to spend about $120 retail to build Fin Fang Foom.
I hope these new ones aren't above $10, with no build a figs. And hooray for no exclusives. At wizardworld, the last Walmart nemesis wave was at least $50 each, and the final figure for Ares I need was $60, and the final for DC Walmart wave was $90! I had to skip them. Finally caved a while ago and paid $50 for Thor to get Giant Man's hand, but geez. Walmart exlusives are just balls to find!

As far as characters, look no further than some of the more obscure Bowen busts! Once they bring unusual guys to life, I can't help but fall in love. Toy Biz did Destroyer(impossible to get variant) after I disovered the Bowen bust.

I do suggest giving some of the 3 3/4" toys a try though. After a weak start, with really shitty snap-on accessories and mediocre sculpts with uneven paint jobs, I must say the recent classic Iron Man, Black Spider-man, Moon Knight, and Union Jack are each as good as their 6" versions.

Now, if the rest were, and they were closer to $5, it would be a lot of fun grabbing tons of these/
