If you're a nerdy girl or nerdy gay man, you very possibly felt a strong disturbance on Sunday afternoon, July 26th. That would have been when John Barrowman -- better known as Captain Jack Harkness on Torchwood -- and David Tennant -- the 10th Doctor, of course -- kissed during the Torchwood panel at the San Diego Comic Con in front of a crowd of nerds who almost unanimously fainted with delight. Now, I assumed one of you kind people would have let me know when the video went online, so I could post it, like I do with the sexy/nerdy ladies. But you didn't. It's been up for a while, apparently. So to those who say this is old, I say it's your damn fault for not telling me sooner. For those who haven't seen it and have been writing fan fiction and fan art of just this moment... enjoy.
Note: About 99.5% of you guys are awesome and tolerant, but for the remaining .5%, it needs to be said -- I will tolerate no hate in the comments. If I can post pics of porn star Bianca Beauchamp undressing as Silk Spectre II, then it's totally fair play for me to post Barrowman and Tennant kissing. So let others enjoy their sexy acts of nerdery like they let you enjoy yours. If you post something hateful, I will ban you from commenting. Period.

The female reaction is crazy!! As a side note, Go Rob! I'm neither female or gay but agree with you 100%! us hedro nerds get a much larger percentage of posts of sexy nerdery and when you went full time you said you would try to please ALL us roboteers. That includes the female and homosexual fans. So kudos man. Besides we should save our hate for deserving recipients like micheal bay

What's the Golden Rule? Jesus of Nazareth said it best "Don't be an asshole to other people."
Now, I don't know if Jesus would approve of Captain Jack and his omnisexuality. I'm guessing that he's a Stephen Moffat fan.

As awesome as the kiss was, I'd have to say that John Barrowman's reaction afterwards was even more awesome. The swooning and that prat fall was absolute comic gold.
And let's be honest folks, who of us here wouldn't react exactly like that if David Tennant came up to us and kissed us? I know I would.
He's Doctor Fucking Who for christ's sake. He can kiss whoever the hell he wants.

Yes, the golden rule is a great way to limit thought, speech and expression with fear of repercussions if you choose to disagree or speak/type you disdain. Yes, bravo for laying down the Marxism! That does not make for an interesting comment section if everyone agrees and act like sheeple. what the point of reading if it's all the same?
Who cares they kissed, why is this a big deal is beyond me, I agree the reaction was gayer than the kiss. I am upset about the cooler Doctor leaving the show for the Twilight-esk young Dr. Who looks to young to be a Doctor to appeal to tweens.
The Twilight effect will have repercussions for a long time to come on the genre.....

So if someone were to interject into a conversation you were having with your friend and start cursing and hurling racial epithets at you, you would say "Thank you! I appreciate your contribution to our discussion. Your comments have elevated the level of discourse significantly." ?
I find that the people who complain about this type of "censorship" are also often deluded enough to think that all opinions are of equal merit. Allowing any and all comments does not necessarily lead to a productive conversation, and in fact most often achieves the opposite.
You can't let the signal-to-noise ratio swing too far toward noise, or you lose the signal.

Marxism is an economic system. I think you might be referring to "totalitarianism", which can exist in the absence of Marxism. But of course I wouldn't expect intelligence from someone who uses the word "sheeple" and thinks he's unique because of it.
Kudos on the vid, Rob.

I would happily punch him in the face and kick the crap out of him. But if he interjected in a debatable nonthreatening way I actually enjoy it. I like to debate and open the spectrum of views. What I cannot stand is limiting that even if I disagree. BTW - Race has nothing to do with this topic, it's sexual preference and playing up on that not race. I am not bothered by the content of the video, I was bothered by the censorship and how blatant it was. (And the upcoming young Twilight Dr).
I find that the people who prevent and shut down any opposite opinion are often times the ones who are the most intolerant and ignorant. Not only in respects to anything outside their realm of thinking but being so close minded to not even give people the benefit of the doubt that they can respectfully disagree without "crossing the line". To threaten in the manner that was given was distasteful in my opinion. What's that say about the readership here if you cannot even trust they can act like adults with some level of decency? There is some level of unwritten etiquette that is/should be a given. Reading the comments here seems to imply that. So I respectfully disagree with you.
Your whole signal to noise ratio comment still needs a balance. Stemming all the intolerant rhetoric makes your fortune cookie comment very hypocritical.

It was an example. Quit being disingenuous.
"I find that the people who prevent and shut down any opposite opinion are often times the ones who are the most intolerant and ignorant."
I'm sorry, but what is there to debate in this issue? The morality of sexual preference? What discourse were you hoping to have?
"What's that say about the readership here if you cannot even trust they can act like adults with some level of decency? There is some level of unwritten etiquette that is/should be a given. Reading the comments here seems to imply that."
This is the internet. The warning was absolutely justified.
"Your whole signal to noise ratio comment still needs a balance. Stemming all the intolerant rhetoric makes your fortune cookie comment very hypocritical."
Not at all. The less noise, the more pure the signal. I don't see how letting assholes post up "Fags are evil." or "LOL ghey homoz!" would have made this a better discussion.

Kien — First of all, this is a blog. My blog. It's my place for my opinions, and people here comment at my discretion. It's not a democracy, nor does it pretend to be. I get to do and say and censor whatever I want.
Second of all, Darth Shoju is right. You're either for the above clip or against it, and pointing out you're against it is at best a downer to the many people who enjoy it (and useless) or at worst hateful, which adds nothing to the conversation but shittiness. Thjere's no p[oint except trying to make people feel bad. So I lose no sleep over censoring shittiness.
I wish I didn't feel I had to give the warning, but I figured better safe than sorry. Next time I'll probably omit it, and trust to the good nature of most TR readers, who have obviously been exemplary, as I had hoped. And if anyone posts anything shitty and hateful, I will simply ban the living fuck out of them.

I may be biased against homosexuality, but John Barrowman is a great example and from what I've seen a great guy. He is what he is, and he neither shoves it in my face nor hides it. He's here, he's queer, now can we get on with the show?
Capt. Jack is one of the best fictional characters, *ever*. John Barrowman is primarily responsible for that. I can't think of anyone else who could have played the part so that it became more than a guest shot. I may not approve of the slut he (Capt. Jack) is (oh, come on, you know he's a slut, he does it with men, women and little green things from Alpha Centauri), but I'd damn sure want him at my back.
