You're right. This is why I lament the transformation of SDCC from a comic convention where only performers wear costumes, to a freak-show where people show up JUST to show off their 0freak cosplay hobby and be attention whores.

The MSM covered SDCC, and you know what they focused on? (In fact, it's ALL they talked about.) The cosplayers. Not the comics. Not the trade. Not the industry. Not the upcoming films and events. Not the merchandise... Nope, the whole focus was on the "geeks" in their costumes.

Geek culture is endangered as it slowly becomes accepted hipster culture; They'll kill it just like they killed goth, punk, Ren Faires, and everything else they touch.

Joe I agree with everything you said. Suddenly it's "trendy" and "hot" to be a nerd. I guess this means most of us were trendy our whole lives and just didn't realize it?

It's only cool to be a geek if you're actually a trendy, good-looking person. Actual geeks are still social pariahs. Look at how many celebrities, while doing interviews for their big geek movies and such, talk about how much they were geeks as kids or the like. I cry foul. This is why celebrity-written comic books, casual gaming, and hipsters in cartoon shirts bother me. They reap the benefits of our hobbies, while we still suffer the shame.

As a straight male I watched straight through.

As an actor and a nerd, I had to turn the sound off to do so. The line readings were just too horrible to listen to and the eye-candy definitely does not balance it out. No girl is hot enough to make listening to that worth it.

With the sound off, however, it was a nice vid.

I think I could watch the whole Star Wars trilogy like this.

And maybe the prequels afterwards.

I may be getting old, but that was nothing but annoying...
