This is how Ponyo rolls, motherfucker -- on a motherfucking boat. I tell you, I'm always in the mood for a mix of beloved anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki's works crossed with profanity-laden rap, but given the insanity of the morning so far, this video is especially welcome. I'm pretty firmly in the Miyazaki is a genius camp, but if Ponyo had actually used this song, it would have been an improvement. And it wouldn't have made Ponyo any more weird. Actually, it probably would have lessened the weirdness significantly, somehow. (Via Japanator)

Apparently the whole world ends up underwater? And everyone just walks around weird and dangerous sea creatures like it's nothing?

I was pleasantly surprised by ponyo. To be sure, it's a kids movie. But it's a really delightfully weird one that doesn't condescend in the way that the vast majority of movies targeting kids do.

Ponyo was a really good Miyazaki film but doesn't hold a candle to some of his other works. This shouldn't stop you from watching it because a not great Miyazaki is still one hell of a work. The movie definitely had my full attention on the different fish that the artists painstakingly drew in throngs.
But the video was great. "I'm on a dolphin doin' flips and shit" got me laughing.

The song was from the same guys who did Lazy Sunday. It's got that dude from SNL. They're called the Lonely Island Boys.
