What a great series. Aside from some of the sillier episodes, the concept was great, the message was sometimes quite poignant, and it never truly failed to entertain.

Hated seeing it go. But if some of the things that Rob states were in store for it, it went out the right way.

Don't remember having problems seeing the #1 show. Though, I'm not going to jinx my workday by mentioning it by name. I'm not superstitious, but I'm also not dumb.

My wife just started watching Quantum Leap on Netflix this year. It really was a great show, and I watched it every week as a kid.

My problem with the show, watching it now nas an adult, is that Sam is a total hippie. He travels through time forcing people to see his moral views during time periods where those moral views just aren't ready to be appreciated. Screwing with the timeline at his whim and wish isn't too good either. In all, he's a completely irresponsible time traveller. My favorite was that he could have saved Al from spending 6 years as a P.O.W. in Vietnam, but was too obsessed with saving his brother who was doomed to die. The only positive result was that his imprisonment and the picture taken of him as a prisoner were probably the two factors that made Al an Admiral.

I do think the show ended at the right time. Yes, it could have gone on longer, but so could have any other show out there. I do think that the show is ripe for a reboot. Syfy is looking for new programs to replace BSG, and this could be it, if it's done well.

You hit shift too many times or held it down too long and then hit OK instead of CANCEL and you got the dreaded CAPS LOCK lock.

It's called sticky keys or soft keys or something, I don't want to test it out cause it always effs up my keyboard when that window pops up.

Oh, and if Sam had saved Al in Vietnam, he and Beth would have been together. Want to bet Al would have traded being an Admiral for true love?

If anyone is interested in seeing where the show could have gone... *shudder*... take a look there. I definitely was waiting a long time for a Quantum Leap movie, but seeing where the final episode could have gone, I've come to terms with the idea that it might be for the best that we never meet Sam Beckett again. It was quirky sci-fi with some very awkward moments, but also some truly incredible moments and I'll always be a fan.

To be honest I’m surprised that I remember most of the shows listed here, considering it’s been years since I’ve seen any of them.

I remember watching a re-run of the final episode not long ago and thought it was a great end to the show.

People that piss and moan about Sam never getting home really miss the whole point of the show, the fact he'd made a unknown life long sacrifice to help people. I had a chill when it was reviled he kept leaping inside of taking the option of going home.

Man I hope they never remake this show.

The ending of "The Leap Home" where Al tell Sam that Tom still dies was heratbreaking. Also great in that episode was when Al verbally bitchsmacked Sam, saying he thought Sam's chance to see his family again was damned fair, as Al would give anything for that opportunity.

Hork, I'm glad there's a logical explanation, although Filter Keys usually opens a pop-up and this time it didn't. Still funny when it happened. :D

Quantum Leap is one of my all-time favoritest T.V. shows ever. The final episode was kind of a let down, but I like that Sam sacrificed himself for Al. I'll admit to being a bit choked up at the words "Dr. Becket never returned home."

Man, that's weird... The eyes on my Dean Stockwell poster just started GLOWING RED! He used to kick it with Neil Young though, so that might account for it.

The wife and I are re-watching this series from the beginning through Netflix. We're only about halfway through the first season, and BOY is it awful. Not Bakula and Stockwell--they're awesome. But the supporting cast and directions are AAWWWFFULLL! Easily some of the worst acting I've seen in any TV show ever.

Thankfully, I know it gets better.

Boogiem*n is one of my all-time favorites. I remember watching it the first time it aired, then rewatching it the next morning to look for all the clues that it wasn't really Al (for the first time you could see his cigar smoke, no sounds when he appeared, that sort of thing). Really well done, and probably my favorite show of all time (mainly because The Simpsons keeps disappointing me).

Actually, resetting sticky keys is easy. Hit the opposite shift key once and bam, reset.

I always liked this show! I've never had any issues while watching the episode "Boogieman". I never even heard of any supposed curse about it...it's all just made up nonsense.

From my understanding, Sci Fi was going to make a sequel series of Quantum Leap about Sams daughter leaping thru time, searching for her father. It was an interesting premise and I believe Al was supposed to be in the first episode or two. The big question would have been, would she actually encounter Sam? I would have watched it.

I was a fan of the episode in which Sam was in Vietnam to save his brother and then the twist was the lady photographer died. When they showed the photos of her last roll of film you saw Al being taken away. And Al says something like "I'll make it out in x amount of years", but by him not coming home Beth leaves him.

Seriously, the writing for this show has to rank among the top ever. Such smart writing.

almost forgot about the angel episode with the latina lady as an angel and Sam as a taxi driver. And then at the end of the episode she calls him Sam. wow...it's moments like that that make an episode go from great to awesome.

Even as a little kid, a lot of the supernatural elements had me rolling my eyes. I think it had a lot to do with being raised around hippies and dealing with their "omg I'm psycic!" routines from a young age.

My only complaint about the final episode is that it didn't ever mention Sam's wife, who was introduced in the Al-and-Sam-switch-places episode. I later found out it was filmed before that episode was even written. But still...

almost afraid given all the things that have happend with number one to mention it for seems that episode is cursed along with the mummy one for remember who freaked out i was when i wtched number one on the list. and as for the final episode hated that Al got a happy ending with his wife but Sam did not get to finaly go home

I loved this show. I seem to remember a rumor during the last season that they were going to have an episode where Sam leaped into Magnum P.I., another Bellisario show. Man that would have been cool.

I disagree about letting them muck with the rules, even if it would have allowed for more episodes.

Why? One word: "Sliders".

You can actually see the moment on Sliders when it turns to crap, and it's because they start sliding in space and time, as well as through dimensions.

When it went bad, we ended up with Quinn talking to his 10-year-old self, people having real magical powers (previously, they stuck to a science fiction theme, and any "magic" was explained as trickery), and main characters quitting the show because it became embarrassing. It went WAY off the rails, and became a stupid waste of time.

I can only imagine what horrible crap would have happened to Quantum Leap if they had allowed the executives to play with the show's rules. Sam would probably never be a normal person again; He'd always jump into celebrities, and he'd start jumping to the future, and to ancient history. It would be lame.

Holy s@#t! I remember recording or trying to record that Boogiem*n episode! The first time my tape ripped while recording it. When I went to my cousins house to watch it half the episode was gone because of some weird static on the tape. We thought that was really weird that it happened on two different machines and two different tapes... Years later I saw they were showing it on the SCIfi Channel and the episode did not fully record on my dvr. Every other episode from the QL marathon was fine except this one. I just thought "what a weird coincidence! Am I never going to see this episode..." I finally saw it on dvd. When I was reading this article I got the chills. I never knew others had the same problems. Weird...

I cried like a baby after watching Mirror Image. Hot, angry tears. I bawled for 30 minutes in my gf's lap over that horrible ending.

To this day, even right now thinking about those frickin' words, I start to get misty-eyed.

While I was laughing at the comments, somehow Firefox managed to protect all my tabs. After I closed out of those, I clicked on my blog folder in the bookmark bar and, instead of giving me the dropdown, opened the entire folder in another window. After I closed out of THAT, my Thunderbird decided to highlight 3 emails at a time, letting me read none of them. I tried to shut down the machine and it refused. I reset it. It made weird growly noises as it restarted. I'm eying it suspiciously now.

I always hated the Lee Harvey episode. It was a bit out there, even by Quantum Leap standards.

But the others weren't that strange or out of place to me. Except for the Devil and Satan episodes... those seemed a bit strange, even though they do actually fit right in with the rest of them.

What about the episode where Sam leaps into a parapsychologist who discovers an elaborate death plot against the lady of the house? That one had Al being heard by regular humans, and it also had a real life ghost (who could see Al). That one kind of broke the barriers of Quantum Leap normality.

I loved this programme as a kid. And I never understood the hate for the final episode, I thought it was perfect. Those words appearing at the end.. Porr Sam. So sad, yet so hopeful. He gave up his chance to go home so he could save more people. That's a hero, folks.

May this series never, EVER be remade.

I have to chime in with the rest of the people who loved the finale. Seeing the words "Sam never returned home" hit me hard. It ranks up there with the finale of Blackadder IV.

The surreal approach of the final episode was also a parody/homage to Sam's namesake, playwright Samuel Beckett, who was known for plays like WAITING FOR GODOT in which essentially nothing happens but in interesting ways.

Im from Mexico, I remember the tv signal going off just as AL turned into the boogieman. It went off all night. I never got to finish the episode till today more than 15 years after, cause i dont know why i remembered. Pretty wierd to hear about the curse when i found the link... Im not joking. Id like to hear more about people with similar experiences while watching it.
