Ha ha! Not really. But you can console yourself with this excellent music video from Ms. Day and her castmates of her Xbox/web series The Guild, titled "Do You Want to Date My Avatar." It's actually been on Xbox Live and iTunes for a couple of weeks, but I was waiting for a legitimate embeddable version to show it off to you guys. And why not? It's a pretty darn good song (note: I own a lot of Kylie Minogue CDs) and while I knew that Felicia Day could sing, I had no idea she could sing that well. I'm nothing but impressed, frankly. If you dig it, you can purchase the video and the MP3 on iTunes, and here's a link to the MP3 for sale at Amazon. Frankly, it's the perfect song to listen to as I try and figure out the winners of this weekend's absolutely amazing TR contest on nerdy dating tips from nerdy girls. Kismet! Thanks to jestergoblin for the tip.

Hahahaha. I love Jimmy Suggs post and how incredibly wrong it is. It's pretty great. I know felicia really well (I play Zaboo) and it's just hilarious to me that you can be so certain about her and be just utterly and completely wrong. The jealousy and the vitriol are just so deliciously off the mark. She has "zero" interest in computers, gaming, etc? Really? Well she's doing a great job faking it. She has every gaming system in her house, practically lives on twitter and facebook and her blog. She plays D&D every sunday. She's really committed to this lie to "help her career." Yes, because SO many actresses have gone geek and have totally made it.
-
Tinkerballa (Amy Okuda) can dance her ass off!!
-
All you nerds need to lighten up. Its just a funny song, ok? A joke. And yes, Day is very pretty. And yes I nominate her as Queen of the Nerds because we don't have a queen and the King is very lonely. Note: We are all the kings of the nerds.
-
I just wanna reply to the dude who bashed on Day saying she wasn't an actual nerd/geek.... she is.... The Guild was created out of her coming off an addiction to WOW. My friend actually played xBox with her at Comic-con too. So /shrug Hilarious song btw.
-
" must be tone deaf compared to the rest of you nitpickers, because I think this song was great AND funny. " It is both. The autotune thing was used for effect, rather than necessity (C.f. Dr. Horrible.) Felicia could make my Day. (Gods, did I really just type that?)
-
I must be tone deaf compared to the rest of you nitpickers, because I think this song was great AND funny. I think everyone is looking into this song/vid way too hard. It's supposed to be silly and mocking. So what if they used computers to make it sound better or enhance her voice? I could understand if we were talking about an actual legit music artist here or even an American Idol winner, but come on guys. To coin an old 80's phrase: "Get bent!" WOW. Now I'm showing my age here.
-
You can count me as a Felicia Day fan, but I have to agree with all the other commenters that the auto-tune isn't doing her any favors, and to say that she has an amazing voice off this song makes me raise an eyebrow. Perhaps they did mean (as someone suggested) to mock the pop auto-tune reliance, but still... Very funny, though!
-
dayummmmmm felicia day is always soooo hot
-
I think it's a fun video. Too bad there's not more Felecia and less computer in the voice. Suggs, where do you get the idea that Felecia has no real nerd credit? More likely, she's the uncoordinated violin girl you convinced to do your homework.
-
This was good? Really?? If that hit the airways and it was an unknown person singing it, it would be met with outright ridicule. I hate being so negative, but this seriously is a pretty poor song.
-
And why not? It's a pretty darn good song (note: I own a lot of Kylie Minogue CDs) Really? Me too! I'm e-mailing you right now. Maybe we can start a club or something..."30-something straight guys who listen to Kylie Minogue but are too stupid to be ashamed of it."
-
the video is good and funny but felicity sining in it is wrong just let her sing without the computer ruining it and the direct sign in route is the only way the trolls will be stopped till they find a way to use it to their advantage
-
Direct sign-on is the only way to resolve this trolling nonsense.
-
Weird I read it as real Zach complaning that some on is getting other people banned, and then the troll coming back to taunt him. Hell it even makes more sense that way, because why would the real Zach give up that fast, that Zach stated he had a bunch of different names, multi accounts reeks of troll. That and the fact that if the real Zach (?) came back to defend himself he would be looked on as a lier because the troll said any more posts from Zach is from the troll. This crap is confusing as hell, we need a usernamed based system. That or the other option there is no Zach T and it is just a troll playing a game, I mean look at the grammar and sentence structure they are very similar, multiple spaces between sentences. I mean I'm no launguage detective but I do have a B.A is engrish
-
OMG, I love Bladezz in this. So hot!
-
I am all for some sort of 'signing-in' type thing, even if I don't post much (might make it easier to post more, actually). Still, this video is hot. That is all that can be said. If people still want to bitch about her voice/singing-computer related stuff, turn the sound off. It is still as good that way.....
-
@ The Man With Two Brain re you implying that I'm the troll here? If you are, you are completely wrong good sir. If I am misunderstanding you here, then I'm just a complete fucking idiot and not getting the possible humor from what was said. Which is completely possible. Either way, I'm no troll and I'm sure Rob can tell from the logs. I like to keep my IP address nice and public-like.
-
darkmagician66699: I read that as the Troll bitching twice in a row about being banned for Trolling and then the real Zach T telling them that Rob can see their e-mail address and can use that to easily identify what posts are the Troll vs. the real McCoy.
-
OH NO! ZACH T. HAS BECOME................SYBIL!!!! Or the man with two brains. Not sure which.
-
Rob, I'm going to be taking a new name again for a while to avoid this troll, so after this post, any other one from Zach T. will be the false one. Sorry for being the target for such harassment, and for putting you under the stress of having to deal with it.
-
@ zach - you have to enter an email address when you post, so Rob would check which poster's email was different. And having thought it through, I'm even more confused. Which Avatar am I trying to date? The kid that blows the candles out? The mech that's trying to save the candles? The blue thing in the Bacta tank? I don't know whats real anymore. (Was that one too many trips to the well on that joke? Just try to hear the last line spoken by whiny farm boy from 'Thumb Wars'. I think I pulled it off.)
-
Oh look, the Troll is back. Rob banned you twice now, and yet you keep coming back? How pathetic. Aside from looking at the IP address, Rob can see what e-mail address each comment is tagged with, that's how he contacts the contest winners. Seriously, think for half a second. Every single post I've made under this name, Rex Splode, and Blue Blazer Regular (also a few at the beginning as "Zach" before I noticed that someone else used that and added my last initial to my ID) have all come from the exact same e-mail address.
-
This brightened my day. Thanks for sharing!
-
This is excellent. "How about a little tank 'n spank?" I died.
-
I'm all for having to create a login on this site. I don;t need someone trolling me. I make enough of my own issues running my mouth here without someone adding to it. To any trolls - just stop it already. It's time to grow up.
-
Is it wrong that my 8 year old girls have been singing this song since it came out? lol
-
Real Zach T — I saw. I've banned his other IP address, just like I'll ban the rest of 'em if he continues to be a jackass. Sorry about this, guys — I know this nonsense is a pain, and I promise no one is more aggravated than me. Hopefully my Village Voice Media overlords will be looking into that new commenting system sooner rather than later.
-
Man I wish Felicia Day would go away now. I'm sick of every halfway attractive girl who's willing to rub elbows with the uncool is instantly named queen of the dorks. This woman is an actress who has zero interest in computers, gaming, the internet, etc. She's trying to get her career going and she's using online folks to make it happen. She's the cute girl who gets you to do her homework but goes to the prom with a total dick. Don't bother falling in love with her, she's only interested in what you can do for her. Simply being less impolite than the "celebrities" (and I use the word very lightly) who are upfront about wanting nothing to do with you doesn't make Ms. Day any more valuable or interesting, in my book. All she's done is find a new way to game the system. The sad thing is how well it's working. Are we really this desperate for any amount of attention?
-
@darkmagician66699: After the bit of drama last week when I thought WetOREO was the troll (which he's not according to Rob, and though I already apologized for antagonizing him on Friday's Beatles post, sorry again), Rob sent me an e-mail over the weekend saying that he'd blocked the troll from one IP address and to let him know if someone swiped my ID again, so he could block the guy again. Dunno if Rob's blocked the troll but just not deleted the post he made, but apart from sign up/log in pages, I don't think there's any way to really prevent it on a public commenting site like this. I don't know shit about programming, though, so I could be talking out my ass by saying that, but yeah...
-
I'm in complete agreeance with Zach T on this trolling issue. Why do people do that? Isn't there any way to control this? In the words of Seinfeld: "You were outted before you were ever in."
-
@the Troll who's stolen my ID: Aside from Felicia Day, some other beautiful nerdy girls in the public consciousness include: Morena Baccarin, Natali DelConte, Veronica Belmont, Alison Haislip, Blair Butler, Kristen Bell, Summer Glau, Eliza Dushku, etc. In short: grow a pair and if you're going to troll, at least do it under your own name, not mine. Thank you, and have a nice day.
-
@ Zach T: Wuzn't me. We are a different kind of troll. Yes, my precious. Smeagol like master. Master help Smeagol. GOLLUM! GOLLUM! Tricksy. Fat, stupid, tricksy hobbit!
-
Felicia Day's voice was so much nicer in Dr. Horrible when it wasn't all computer-processed and everything. That aside, the song's horribly catchy so I'm going to be singing it when no one is within earshot for the next couple of weeks.
-
Hey Rob, someone's stolen my ID again. You asked me to let you know if it happened, and it did. Oh, and troll? Felicia Day's gorgeous.
-
Cute & Fun... But considering this weekend's contest - this sounds like the very special musical version.
-
Haha, well, the haters can suck it; I wasn't listening to this expecting to hear Betty Noyes or anything. The fact that Felicia Day's normally acceptable voice has been totally warped by technology is appropriate, and likely intentional. This was hilarious, and I love that all the cast members of The Guild were so willing to rock it.
-
Not to say the song isant good, but to say thats shes such a good singer is quite off. When someones voice has been rung thru a computer it can't be considered theres anymore, it takes away from people who can really sing.hell hellen keller could have a number one pop album with the right tech.
-
Date? No. Fuck? Yes!! BTW - was fat-hog Mimi Bobeck in this video? Cause I'm leaving her avatar for the rest of you. That's just too much woman for me! Great vid, right up to the point of the gay fighter and magic user. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
-
That's the problem with auto-tune. You can just say the words in a flat monotone and let the computer turn you into a Grammy nominee. It's like when Bart Simpson formed a boy band to trick people into joining the Navy, and the producer pushed the 'studio magic' button. Hilarious joke about crazy fictional technology that could never exist. except it does and is called auto-tune. (Seriously, who pissed in my Cheerios? Walking now.)
-
Good Day.
-
I've never liked auto-tune. The song's funny, but it sounds just like everything else that's on the radio stylistically so it didn't impress me in that way. I guess it comes down to good, just not my cup of tea, same with the Guild itself as I've never been interested in MMOs at all. Also, liked Felicia Day's voice a lot more in Dr. Horrible and that singing seemed a lot better to me since it had a lot more emotion in it. Still, I thought it was fun.
-
First? Really? SWEET And no. No I do not. (Geez I seem to be in a bad mood this morning. Maybe I should go for a walk or something. I promise to be back to 'jolly fat guy' tomorrow.)
