It seems like forever since our Asian toymaking friends have unleashed an awesome 12-inch toy on us, but Medicom has stepped up with this figure of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland flick, which will certainly be excessively Tim Burton-y. Although Depp's Hatter kind of looks like his Willy Wonka character and the Heath Ledger Joker had a baby which exploded, I know there are enough Tim Burton fans (and Johnny Depp fans, no matter what he's wearing) that this figure would be of interest. It's due out next spring, and you can pre-order it from Sideshow for $200 here. Thanks to Dread Central for the good pic.

I would love the character design if they got rid of that makeup =/

While I'll admit that the movie looks cool, this look is really ugly and stupid IMO.... the role seems pretty much exactly like everything else Johnny Depp/Tim Burton have ever done, and that sucks. TIM BURTON RESPONSIBLE THIS!

Was that bit about it being forever since Asian toy companies released an awesome 12" figure supposed to be sarcastic? Hot toys is the king of 12" figures, and they have released at least 15 figures this year that beat the badonk out of this fairy Johnny Depp.

I'm I the only one who thinks the make up makes him look like a cracked out Elijah Wood?

Johnny Depp in face paint and any crazy costume is played out!
Do some other stuff for a while Johnny....Please!!!
Oh and I know everyone thinks these costumes he wears are just so fantastic but seriously they are just adding a couple more stupid pieces to previous stupid costumes that he has worn in the past.
Example:
Hat, modified Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Pants, modified Pirates
Coat, modified Pirates
Face paint, bastard Joker/Edward Scissor Hands/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory/Pirates AMALGAM OF DEATH!!
Sorry to rant I like Johnny a lot but my crush is fading with the lack..yes,lack of originality in these so called "creative" ventures.
Lets have Scorcese match up with Johnny in a real ganster film and see what kind of chops johnny has.

This would work if there was no make-up and special effects were used to make Depp hydrocephallic like the Tenniel drawings.

Eh, Medicom have been at the back of the heap as far as high end 1:6 goes for a while. While Hot Toys is taking everything to the next level, Medicom insists on continuing with sub-par sculpts, paint, and clothing, all while charging more than superior companies like Hot Toys, and Sideshow. Not to mention their RAH body is one of the most fragile things I've ever seen. Not good at a $200 price tag when Hot Toys is doing far superior work at $50 less.
