I don't share a lot of art on Topless Robot, just because there's seldom anything for me to say about it, but very occasionally, that's okay. Case in point: Joe the Barbarian comic artist Sean Murphy's above picture of his favorite heroes, which does indeed include Einstein wielding Cloud's sword from Final Fantasy VII (and a man-crush is born). If you like it, head over to his Deviantart art page to see his other work, including his amazing Wolverine-centered alphabet. Much, much thanks to Sean T. Collins of Robot 6 to introducing me to this.

Much respect for including the Rocketeer - it could have been such a cool property but we never got a decent comic series, toys, videogames, animated series, or a sequel.
Note the use of the modifier "decent".

Don't tell him that there are five lights. He'll fuck you up.
And, yeah, Gambit being front and centre is... questionable... considering the rest of the lineup.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with problems having Gambit front-and-center, much less in the image at all. There is no character in comics that is a better embodiment of The Wesley (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheWesley) than Gambit.
What's with Wolverine tugging on his coattails? Could it have something to do with a trope Heimdall has pointed out to me many times? When Wolverine says he's the best at what he does, and what he does ain't pretty, it's because he's best at getting his ass handed to him by Gambit. The fact that Marvel's #1 badass can't beat an effeminate skinny dude with a stick is all the proof I need that Gambit is comic's #1 Wesley.
No poster of badasses should include Gambit unless he's getting his ass kicked by all the real badasses.

Bonus points for including Henry Rollins and Crazy-Tommy-Gun-Borg-Killer Picard. I like it!

I've thought about it, and this is about as dumb as that nerd alphabet posted here a while back that had Buffy as "B" instead of Batman.

I liked old school Gambit when he was first introduced, when he was morally ambiguous and hinted at the possibility that he might betray the group (this was before Bishop showed up saying that he will most likely betray the group...which turned out to be Onslaught). Even after establishing him as a definite hero, he was the poster child for heroes in the 90s: funky outfit designs accented by regular outfits, as well as a slim and trim figure with athleticism. When they made him a pussy by revealing he was the one that lead the Marauders to the Morlocks (retcon, BTW) and pretty much whined about Rogue, then yeah, Gambit fell out of favor with me. Still, he's awesome to use in Marvel vs. Capcom series.

The guy in the bottom left in the gold armour is Madmartigan (AKA Val Kilmer) from Willow the 1988 film from Ron Howard and George Lucas.

Um, everyone complaining? This is a portrait of all of the ARTIST'S favourite heroes, not yours. I think he's allowed to pick who he wants to draw.

True... but it's hard to reconcile all these pillars of badassery with a cornball like Gambit, especially if he's dressed like a Hot Topic kid.
He's got the freaking Grey Ghost in there, for crying out loud!

Pick who you want to draw as an artist. But maybe save some face and don't display it so we can all pick it apart!
