Argue all you want, but Batman: Brave and the Bold is awesome. Additionally, Neil Patrick Harris is likewise awesome. So Neil Patrick Harris' guest appearance as the all-singing, all-evil Music Meister in Brave and the Bold? Also awesome. The first half of the epiosde is above; if you want to watch it on Cartoon Network, it'll debut on October 23rd -- the same day that iTunes releases the episode's music for download. Nice! Note: To all those who doubt B&tB's awesomeness, please note that even the clip above featured: 1) Aquaman close-dancing with Gorilla Grodd, and 2) Batman surfing on Gorilla Grodd. Your opinion is wrong. (Via Comics Aliance)

Admittedly, escaping on a musical note probably isn't the best getaway vehicle. That could have been a little bit better. Plenty of potential musical themed possibilities there.

Did superheroes just break out into a musical number? No wonder the american market thinks animation is for kids. This sucks such balls. Even nph can't make this episode not suck balls. I don't think batman and robin even broke out into song in the 60's batman tv series.(and that ruined batman for decades)

I'm all for the tone of this show in general, but the writing can sometimes leave me wanting more. I known it's a kids show but it doesn't have to be idiotic, like having the red tornado be a sociology professor but he didn't know a fucking thing about christmas.
Other than that the art direction is great and it's fun

I honestly dont get the hate for this show...or the 60's Batman. Is it my favorite version of Batman? No-but its just as valid as the darker stuff. This is a show for kids and yes its campy to appeal to the adults as well-just like the Adam West show. Relax and enjoy the silver-age throwback old chums!

So, is this version of batman based on a string of the comics? Or a reimagining of the 60's batman?
I liked the 60's batman....but after Batman: The animated series I expect more out of a cartoon. The Batman is an ok show, not a fan of the artwork in it though.

This episode proves two things, first that animation in America will never be taken seriously because of shit like this, and secondly that Batman B&B is horrible. How can you go from Batman TAS to Batman Beyond to The Batman to this shit. Batman TAS was a classic that set the bar for all superhero cartoons to follow,Batman Beyond was a worthy successor and a superior show, and The batman was coming into its own and had the best animation quality of all the shows. And while I'm on it why would you create a poorer quality show in all regards. The last season of The Batman has the same exact team up premise that B&B has. And if it was to sell toys the figures for The Batman were pretty good so you didn't have to make a new show to sell toys. With the exception of the voice acting of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill being missing WB had no right to put this steaming pile of horseshit on the air to pollute not only my eyes and mind, but now my ears. FUCK BATMAN BRAVE AND THE BOLD FOREVER WITH A SICK DICK!!!!!

While I agree that American animation needs to diversify more, explore more, I don't think it also means that we have to stop making stuff like Batman Brave and the Bold. I mean, in Japan they make serious action anime like "Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex" but they also make "Excel Saga". There's room for everything.
Themac339 said: " ...and The batman was coming into its own and had the best animation quality of all the shows."
I'm not sure, but I think they stop making "The Batman" shows because the ratings weren't high enough and the toys weren't selling enough either. So basically, it died because the fans took too long to get over the fact it wasn't BTAS or Batman Beyond. By the time they got used to it and liked it, the powers that be had already stopped making more.
So, if you wanna see more serious animation, support it when it comes out. Even if it's not quite all the way perfect the you would like to have it. :)

No. Just...no. Fuck off and die. All Batman is good. The show itself already addressed your fucking shit anyway:
"Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but it's certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots than the tortured avenger crying out for mommy and daddy."
—Bat-Mite defends this incarnation of Batman.

Why are nerds such assholes?
You guys don't even know what you're crying about anymore. You're bitching because Black Canary likes Batman, then later ends up with Green Arrow,JUST LIKE IT HAPPENED IN THE GODDAMN COMIC BOOK?
You guys praise a show that gave Joker a blue face and Penquin long hair, then bash this show for not being the "real" Batman when the characters look straight from the comics!
And to the halfwit who thinks the Adam West Batman "ruined the franchise for decades" get over yourself. The comic would have been canceled if not for the show.
Look guys,I realise your peers and family members make fun of you for liking comics and cartoons because they're "kid's stuff" but guess what? They're always going to. You had a "teh matur darkzorz" Batman cartoon for YEARS,and yet "American animation will never be taken seriously."
Batman and his friends and foes are CHILDISH characters, and a CHILDISH concept. I'm sorry,it's true. I love Batman too,but I'm not going to pretend it's something it's not.
Even the oh-so-mature Dark Knight movie was about a guy wearing a bat mask and fighting a guy wearing clown makeup.
I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes cartoons are funny,so laugh,or change the channel and shut the fuck up.

Auto-Tuned Batman? Thats the kind of shit that makes B&B fan-fricken-tastic.
Maybe it's because I grew up around musical theater, but I LOVE this ep - the pacing of the songs (especially w/ the romantic interludes interspersed) reminded me of some of those classic plays from the 40s and 50s.
Great stuff. NPH made this one legend...

And like everyone's been saying, there's room for all sorts of Batman :) We can like him all the same. I think this show's one of the last decent bits of programming Cartoon Network has left anymore, and it's refreshing to see enough production to get something as difficult as a musical episode drawn up.
Yes, it's not Batman: The Animated Series. But where would the fun be if everything was the same all the time?

Some people need to lighten up in the comments section. I think the whole point of this place is for nerd venting, so it's all good. I think Rob's comments dared people to say this show sucks, so how can anyone be surprised people took up the gauntlet? I stand by my statement saying 60's batman camped up batman for decades to come in a bad way. I don't recall superman having a campy 60's tv show and his comic getting canceled. If you think about it, the "good" batman movies like the first two of the late 80's movies and the current nolan movies owe more to a dark interpretation of batman, while the batman nipple movies were totally influenced by the 60's camp crap. Personally, in my opinion i can't stand musicals, and watching this clip made me an unhappy camper. Dark Knight all the way yo.

I watch Batman: tB&B all the time with my son. We really enjoy it. It's nice to see him as a masked adventurer rather than a tortured Dark Knight. We've seen plenty of the latter over the years. Batman: TAS was excellent, but we don't need a new version of that every few years. The Batman wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the design of some of the characters (Joker in particular).
This musical episode was a lot of fun. My son and I have been singing the songs since we saw it.
And I also think the "comics are serious business, dammit!" folks need to unclench for a while. It's better for you in the long run. Angst is bad for the blood pressure.

The Dark Knight sucked ass. impossibly contrived and convoluted plot, cartoon physics, and a bunch of characters written in a vacuum. but, hey, crank the serious up to 11. as long as there aren't bat-nipples, how can it go wrong?

Not that it really matters, but Buffy didn't exactly pioneer the musical episode concept. According to TV.com, the Simpsons did it first (though I'm sure some other TV show did it before them somewhere along the line).

The Simpsons - All Singing, All Dancing - Air Date: Sunday January 4, 1998

For decades to come? Really? Neal Adams "darkened" the character up again within 10 or 15 years, didn't he?
I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but yes it is a fact that the Batman comic series was facing cancelation, and the popularity of the TV show saved it.

Ok, ok, I never heard of this before this post. I've never watched this show. I didn't even like Dr. Horrible!!! But fuck me with a chaisaw, I loved this shit. It's like 60's Batman meets Dr. Horrible meets Phantom of the Paradise and it's glorious to behold. Goofy, goofy, goofy,(umm, Batman, don't EVER sing again) but made almost bordering on artistic by NHP's voice skills (not to mention Black Canary! Wow!) Now I finally get why everyone loves this actor.
Also I love the musical Assassins, why NPH starred in the 2004 revival of. Thus, a lot of this ep was picturing Batman fighting Lee Harvey Oswald. Weird, to say the least.
