Should be good. Hopefully they take the batman route and build the pre story.
-
Oh and I forgot to mention Charlize? Are you serious? Cast Australians and New Zealanders for this film. Not jack ass Hollywood sell out hoe bags! With her in the film that means less time seeing car chases and MAX and more time with her fugly mug taking up the real estate. What made these movies so fun in the past is that we were seeing new and unique faces surround Max during his adventures. If they want to fuck it up for good keep casting Americans.
-
I don't think people get it. For all of his faults this movie is crap if Mel is not Max. I'm not much of a Mel fan but this is one of those things that should just stay on the shelf.
-
I feel the smug need to point out that this guy also played Heathcliff on PBS's Wuthering Heights. He was just the right amount of evil.
-
Can he just finish the Hawk The Slayer sequel first?
-
I love how you Trekie nerds used a Mad Max post to gripe about a shitty Star Trek movie. I want to see Mel as old ass Max. No doubt about it. I could care less about a remake.
-
I say HELL YEAH! to the new Mad Max, based on that Bronson trailer, hat he played psycho literary sadist Heathcliff in a Wuthering Heights miniseries, he was in a lousy Star Trek movie and survive, the fact he battled alcoholism and crack adicction and won. All of above is enough Mad in Max for me.
-
he deserves a chance to prove if he can pull off mad max for mel is really given how long a fourth film has been talked about proably too old for the charecter. for after all the guy deserves some way to finaly put shizon to rest and prove the talent he is ment to be. and if mad max does it so be it.
-
He is fucking awesome in Bronson. If you have any doubts, that film seriously put them to rest
-
@John Hazard: Ah. I didn't know that the character was originally going to be the same age as Picard. You're absolutely right, that could have been fantastic. Also, you and Photoboy are spot-on in seeing Nero as more akin to Shinzon than Khan. That's all I could think whenever Nero was onscreen... I liked the movie in spite of that. @Slust: I don't think either of Hardy's visible tattoos are tribal, but, as a rule, you're right. Tribal armband tats are not where it's at.
-
Hardy was amazing in Bronson, I instantly forgave him any part he might have played in Nemesis being shit. It was clearly Berman, Logan, Stewart, Baird or some combination thereof who made the bad decisions on that film. I agree with John Hazard that Shinzon should have been played by Patrick Stewart. It's hard to buy someone else as Picard, even if they are a younger version, and especially when they try to make out Picard was bald even at Starfleet Academy! Berman used to claim before every movie was released that they'd got "the new Khan" in the film, and every time that wasn't true. Abrams film made a similar mistake I think, if anything Nero is the new Shinzon! ;)
-
Tribal armband tattoo = Auto-DQ. For anything.

Upon your recommendations I just checked out the Bronson trailer. It's not about Charles Bronson the actor btw -which is good, Hardy doesn't look anything like him. I remember a TV role of his before he hit it big in 70's revenge movies where he played a man who couldn't get a girl or friends because he was so ugly. Bronson (the new movie) and Hardy's performance look really interesting, I will definitely have to see that. @MDOC: Gerard Butler is a genius idea. I would accept him as Max.
-
Hell yeah. If you have any doubt in this guy's ability check out Bronson. This guy is the Next Big Thing, mark my words.

"Since it was highly unlikely that Mel Gibson would want to star in another Mad Max movie, or that Miller would want the elderly, Jew-hating Gibson to star in another Mad Max movie either, I'm fine with this. Thoughts?" I want elderly Mel Gibson if the title is called Mad Max 4, now if this is a remake of the original Mad Max then I don't care. Forgive and forget is what I say. So Mel said some stupid shit while he was drunk, big fucking deal. We've all done and said some stupid shit when we were drunk and I'm sure many of us regret it. Give the guy a fucking break. Mad Max 4 is not Mad Max without Max.
-
Demitri Martin
-
Sorry. There is no Max without Mel.
-
oh shit, he played bronson? damn now that you pointed that out i cant picture him without the stache.... but that definitely qualifies him as fucking mad beyond the thunderdome... AWESOME best replacement actor possible
-
meh. This guy has 'role in Twilight Saga' written all over him.
-
Hardy is simply stunning in the film BRONSON that played Sundance in January and Magnolia is releasing now. Can't wait to see him as Max. Also, if BRONSON is playing anywhere near you see it now.
-
@RobP: Like I said, I know it wasn't his fault. I just hated that movie so much, my hatred clouds my opinion. I've read that the original concept was to produce a villain as awesome as Khan, and they rightly figured only Patrick Stewart fighting an evil version of himself could deliver that- but then the director, who has since been badmouthed by all the TNG actors, decided the movie needed a younger face. (and I think Patrick Stewart's Shinzon would have been the same age, not younger). Coincidentally, the producers of the new Trek movie wanted to match "Khan", and they too wound up with a crap villain in a stupid movie. Both with stupid unnecessary car chases. P.S. Zac would make a fine Mad Max.
-
Based off his rough tats, I say no. Disqualified due to rough ink. Get Jeremy Renner or Gerard Butler.
-
Does it really matter? It's Friday, so we are all here for the slow march towards The Getalong Gang(bang): The Conception of the Wuzzles with special guests, the Shirt Tales.
-
@John Hazard: You can't blame Tom Hardy for being cast as Shinzon. Both Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner were heavily involved in the re-writes of Nemesis' script. Had Stewart wanted to play his younger clone-self, he probably could have. But, X-Men: The Last Stand hadn't been made, yet, so they probably didn't realize they could use crappy CGI to make him look 30 years younger. Anyway. I was hoping the new Mad Max would be played by Zac Efron.

Based on that picture, if you put him in the right getup then he could probably work.
-
I literally read an article about this guy just a couple weeks ago, where he was bitching about the fact that Star Trek Nemesis's failure was so bad it turned him into a crack head.
-
It wasn't his fault, he did as good a job as possible with the crap he was given, but I can never forgive him for Star Trek Nemesis. His part should have been played by Patrick Stewart. Hopefully he will become Mad Max, and make me forget- but honestly, I'd prefer old, crazy, asshole Mel Gibson were in there, to pass on the name to one of those desert rat kids from Thunderdome (who could be played by Shinzon or whoever). I'd also like to have sex with Tina Turner.
-
Sounds good. Apparently Charlize Theron is signed on for the movie as well.
