As for me, I'm stunned -- stunned to discover Black Lightning didn't wear leggings. I knew Samurai and Apache Chief didn't, but Black Lightning? His costume covers his entire upper torso. It'd be like me going on with a shirt, a hoodie, and a pair of tighty-whities. It's worth noting that the only other Superfriends who didn't wear pants were Wonder Woman -- a woman -- and Robin -- a boy. Clearly, pants were a privelige only granted to the Superwhitemen. Where is El Dorado? I miss his power to make-up new and unrelated powers on the spot.

El Dorado was actually scheduled to be included in the 1980's Kenner Superpower collection, but the line got canceled.
==Trivia==
Buster Jones the voice of Black Vulcan was also the voice of Doc on GI Joe and Blaster on Transformers.
Jack Angel the voice of Super Samurai was the voice Ultra Magnus in Season Three of G1 Transformers.
Stanley Jones the voice of Lex Luthor in the 1970's and 1980s Super Friends and Super Powers was the Voice of Zarak in Season 4 of G1 Transformers. :-B

Actually, that's Black Vulcan, not Black Lightning. There was apparently some sort of issue at DC that meant they couldn't use Black Lightning so they made a similar but different character, and then removed his pants.

It never fails to make me laugh that they had to put the character's skin color in his name, as if someone might accidentally fail to notice.

I believe that El Dorado is being released as a DC Universe Classics figure next year (he may have been included in the leaked photos Rob posted a few weeks back).
And that is Black Vulcan, not Black Lightning.
And I also thought it was really interesting that out of the four adult characters created for the show, all of them are half-naked. Either they're not wearing pants (the three above) or bare-chested (El Dorado). Makes me wonder what went into the process of designing the characters, and if they were maybe designed by a woman.

Lack of pants never bothered me too much for Samurai and Black Vulcan, b/c most of the time they were flying and there legs would turn into a tornado and lightning, respectively.
Apache Chief on the other hand, grew to tower above the people below garbed only in a loin cloth to cover himself. Poor coverage from prying eyes in an Indian up-skirt points to the need for the man to have a growing problem.

Never trust a male superhero who doesn't wear pants.
Seriously, I see the three of these guys driving a windowless van, going thru neighborhoods, looking for unsuspecting children. If they ever get accused of anything, they would just blame the Legion of Doom.

Originally, Black Lightning actually shot black lightning, not that that made it any better...

Do we all forget that the no-long-pants look was big for superheroes, back in the late 1970's? There were some characters that only wore a vest, shorts, and boots!
(Unfortunately, I don't remember the character's name to find a Google image.)
I'm surprised DC didn't modernize the look of these characters by simply painting their legs a different color.

Technically, Robin was wearing tights. They were just "nude" colored, kinda like what's worn by the chicks at Hooters or most reputable titty bars.
Yeah. That makes it worse.

Meaning that Robin was wearing pantyhose.

You really can't tell if Apache Chief is "shortpacked" 'cause of his costume, but Black Vulcan and Samarai are definitely shortpacked!

Mattel proably forgot about El Diablo or figure he has not enough support to warent a figure. as for black vulcan. when Hanna Barbera was told that to use black lighting they would have to pay his creator a royalty fee due they created black vulcan to avoid that. and now giganta will have her old sparing partner on my shelf
