Zing! Get it? Get it? Because he's a time traveler, and his next and final two-part special is called The End of Time! Crappy article titles aside, the second of David Tennant's final four Who specials aired Great Britain this weekend -- The Waters of Mars, not that any of you North Americans would have illegally downloaded it and watched it already, of course -- and the above preview for The End of Time. Based on the video, it appears that The End of Time will include The Master, and about 18 bazillion shots of Tennant's Doctor looking bewildered. Since I'm still one season three of the new Who era, you Who-ligans can feel free to fill fill me in on anything I missed. (Via io9)

the master showing is because the doctor decided in water of mars to interfer and save some people which screwed up time. and what better way to have the doctor change to a new form then a battle with the master a villian worthy to kill a time lord though one theory was the doctor becomes the master as part of davids last run

I am freakishly excited about this and also very sad. I don't want to see Tennant go, but damn this is awesome. And the Master is returning!

Things of note from the trailer:
1) more Ood
2) We see Donna Noble (former companion), for a whovelian, this is BIG (I'm trying to avoid spoilers as to why since you're still watching the series Rob)
3) Wilfred Mott (he's had cameos in most of the last several Doctor Who Christmas specials, and in the Who-verse is the grandfather of companion Donna Noble)
And as previously mentioned, the erturn of the Master, one of the classic Dr. Who villains.

You actually wait?
This show's too good to let American networks insert commercials.

Wait...you haven't finished season 3? Was it not in these pages that considerable shit was talked about Last of the Time Lords? To the tune that it's worse than Fear Her, if I recall.

I only hope this showdown with The Master is more entertaining than Last of the Time Lords was.
Judging by how The Master looks here, it is definitely possible. But...we shall wait and see.

The Waters of Mars was great. Not as scary as it was meant to be though. Anwyay, hope you all enjoy it when it finally makes it's way over to America. Aslo, love how Donna is coming back. Loved her even if many people didn't like her.

Waters of Mars was great, IMO, especially compared to the last two Who outings. Top-notch acting, a nice, more dominant turn from The Doctor and only ONE annoying side character (I refer, of course, to Gadget-Gadget). All you could ask for from an episode, really.
Things I am not happy about:
Tennant leaving
Wilfred Mott and Donna returning
The Master as a beardy see-through hoodie
Things I am cautiously optimistic about:
A series ending with no Daleks?
Return of the Ood?
The Master as a beardy see-through hoodie?

I thought Waters of Mars was pretty great. It seemed like it was going to be a stereotypical base-under-siege Doctor Who story, but in actual fact it had a much greater significance to the Doctor's mindset and attitude towards what he does. I'm unsure how much the ending of the story tempered his emerging megalomania but maybe the Doctor's pride comes before a fall...
As for The End of Time, I'm intrigued to know how/why the Master is some sort of robot or hologram. It seems a bit reminiscent of the Scream of the Shalka, where the Master was in a robotic body (and coincidentally voiced by Sir Derek Jacobi).

Wouldn't it be funny if David Tennant regenerated into John Simms (the Master) and all the news coverage about Matt Smith becoming the new Doctor came from a parallel universe. lol :)
Joking aside, we know this won't happen since the Matt Smith episodes are probably due to air in January and most them of have already been filmed.
Like all Whovians, I'll watch next season with an open mind.

SPOILERS AHEAD
The Ood are a race of being that are first encountered as docile servants, sold en masse by an Earth corporation. They speak through the little ball that is tethered to their heads, which they hold to communicate. In this form, they are mildly telepathic creatures. They live to serve, and if not given orders, will allow themselves to perish due to inaction.
Later, it is revealed that the Ood are actually an intelligent race that have basically been lobotomized with the goal of enslaving them. The little ball is a replacement for their brain, which is connected to their head by a cord. When they have their brain, they're an insightful, peaceful, very wise species with some psychic ability of note.
The Doctor & Donna rescued the Ood from enslavement, and the Ood predicted that the Doctor's song would soon end ("song" being Ood allegory for life itself). As they called the team of the Doctor and Donna "DoctorDonna", it can be speculated that they might have been talking about Donna Noble, as she was briefly part-timelord and called herself (in jest) The DoctorDonna.
Either way, the Ood's predictions about the Doctor's end have been eating away at The Doctor for a while now. Ever since he left Donna behind, and said his final good-bye to Rose, and was essentially dumped by Martha, he has been traveling alone... And that's not so good for The Doctor. As seen in the most recent episode, he really needs a companion to keep him grounded, otherwise he gets all "I AM THE LORD OF TIME AND SPACE" and goes too far.

I mean they hold the ball to communicate; Not their heads! I didn't take time to proofread!

zero thank you :)
much appreciated ...
and yeah , leave it to US stations to include shitty commercials while the show is actually going ON .....
Effing commercials during a show, AFTER an actual commercial break .
we dont need this shit. whats next that concept in the sliders episode where they landed on an earth where the shows had "subliminal" commercials in them ?
[[Sliders Episode: "Season's Greedings"(1996-12-20)
The sliders land onto a world dominated by commercialism, and get jobs working in a giant mall two days before Christmas. They later discover that the workers are basically indentured servants, and Arturo attempts to prevent one worker from abandoning her infant child.
