Really! I had no idea either, but Trek Movie just posted the above clip, and it turns out that ol' Wes Crusher redubbed a few of the random Romulan voices, including the dude who says, "Sir! If we ignite the red matter now...!" at the end of the video. There's a whole story about how Wheaton snuck into the film, but I'll leave that for Trek Movie to tell -- along with his near appearance in Nemesis.

I missed the new movie this summer due to my father's death. I was very excited to purchase the new DVD. OH MY GAWD! What have they done to my beloved Star Trek???? I don't need or want to see Mr. Spock kissing pooing Uhura!!!! Don't get me wrong Uhura (especially the original) is a knock out beauty, but I just don't need to see them kissing and groping on the bridge! I guess I am am an old 54 year old man who has watched the original (over and over) for 44 years. They made star Trek a knock off of Star Wars!!! The ship looked terrible, the aliens were stolen from Star Wars and the plot sucked. And they have mysterious stoic mystical Mr. Spock kissy pooing Uhura having Bridge sex! YUCK!!!! It is a terrible movie, bring them back from what ever time-line the producers stuck them in…I want my heros back in "real" Star Trek time!!!!!!

Feared it might sucked... Watched it, it sucked...so who cares he was in it... 3 year Noob gets to be a captain and gets a ship... And a Seasoned officer declines and becomes his biatch...ugh Yeah, that's the way....idiots.

...Ah, good old Trekmovie. Where Anthony Pasquale's lips are so firmly planted on Wil Wheaton's ass that he's left a permanent dent in his right butt cheek, and posts are censored because one teenage choad is offended by the word "retard".
-
You know, as much as I revile the character of Wesley Crusher, Wil Wheaton is generally a pretty good guy... and I think him having been the lead for Voyager as an older, more serious Wesley Crusher might not have been such a bad idea.

What's wierd and funny about his "almost" appearance in Nemesis, is how he is visible at the end of the table at the wedding reception...but only in widescreen. This film being the commercial failure it was, I don't even know if a widescreen version was available, you can only see it during one of the extra features that shows a few random letterboxed shots of the film. Glad to know he had a scene that was cut, since it was so odd k owing that he was hanging on the edge of the screen, saying nothing. I always thought if they brought Q, or some newer, bullshittier cosmic entity into a film, cosmic Wesley would make a cool appearance. Also, having your character made into a god is one the better ways to be written out of a series.

That's cool, I hadn't heard the Wil Wheaton on Voyager rumour before. It makes a lot of sense considering Robert Duncan McNeill was then picked and he had been on TNG in the same episode as Wil Wheaton where they covered up killing one of their wingman. Of course they changed the character to Paris, apparently so they didn't have to pay any royalties (like T'Pau became T'Pol on Enterprise). I never really got the Wesley hate, but I was quite young when TNG was on so I probably identified more with the character than the older classic Star Trek fans.

Wil tells the story on his own blog, too... http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/wwdnbackup/2009/11/in-which-a-fairly-major-secret-is-made-secret-no-more.html

Leverage, Trek websites, Big Bang Theory... Big week for Wheaton!

What does infilitrated mean? Is it anything like infiltrated?
-
@OnanRulz: I heard the Wesley Crusher/Voyager rumor before. I also heard it was considered to make it Rikers first command, before they decided to go with a female captain. They were pretty intent on having someone from TNG on the Voyager in the pre-production stages (like Chief O'Brian on DS9).
-
Well that is just cool, I had no idea, although listening to it you can definitely hear the Wheat. I'm glad they cut his scene from Nemesis, personally... he was supposed to be exploring other realms of existence and I know Riker was kinda his friend/mentor in the beginning but it doesn't seem logical (ha) that he would come back for his wedding. I am sure he would understand.
-
Coincidence! I just saw him on Leverage last night! @Bill: Rumor has it, he was offered to reprise the role of Wesley on Voyager, in the role that would eventually become Tom Paris, but he turned it down for typecasting reasons. Which is a shame, because that series may have been palatable with a connection like that.

SNURCKLES!

Oh good, just what Star Trek needs. More Wesley Crusher.
-
Wil Wh-heaton was in Star Trek, eh? That's kinda funny, Wil Wh-heaton being in Star Trek. Isn't it? Wil Wh-heaton? Star Trek? Whhhh-hhhhheaton.

WHEATOOOOOON NNNNNNNNN

Poor Wesley Crusher...always ALMOST in a Star Trek film. I guess he shouldn't have gone off with the Traveler after all, huh?
