You know that's gotta come in black later for an afro
-
LOL
-
I might have to invest in a case of these so I can get a set, and just sell the extras.
-
oh god. from what i've red, they will sell bags with random minifig parts to collect, so that you can TRY to get the parts to assemble them... this is gonna cost me so much money. i just wanted the zombie and the clown. and the robot. and of course the crash test dummy. but thats it. oh, and the caveman. again, Bankruptcy @2010.
-
Look at that Lego Clown hair. IT IS AWESOME
-
I want an entire line of Lego Luchadores. How sweet would that be?
-
I think we all know what I mean by "back massager."
-
It's cool and all that they try to show that women can be doctor's with #10 there, but I'm thinking that syringe she's got is more a personal aid or back massager.
-
Haven't Playmobil being doing this for far longer and far better? True there's no zombies yet, but matter of time, really.
-
I think #13 is suppose to be an emo, except he's not wearing mascara and he's smiling.
-
Is #10 a Lego Sexy Nurse? Hot. That clown terrifies me, but the zombie rocks my socks.
-
YEAH!!
-
And there is no black Lego criminal. There's a secuity guard in one of the Batman sets who is dark-skinned. Maybe that's what he was thinking of.
-
The yellow color of Lego minifigs does not represent white people or any other one group of people. That's why there have been yellow Native Americans, Medieval Knights, Japanese Ninjas, Caribbean Pirates, Soccer players from around the world, Indians, Pacific Islanders, etc. It's only the minifigures that represent real people and licensed characters that have actual flesh tones, such as the Star Wars, Indiana Jones and NBA sets (which had quite a few black players). The minifigures you see in the average non-licensed Lego set can be just about anyone you want them to be. If you're seeing race, that's your own hypersensitivity.
-
there was no LEGO black criminal. And they only do black characters for liscenesed sets. NBA, Star Wars, and Batman. other than that, all minifigs are yellow, not white, yellow.
-
These are nice and all but...WHERES MY LEGO FREDDIE MERCURY FIGURE??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
-
SECONDED!!!!!!
-
There's been more black minifigs than Mace... The Bespin Guard and Lando Calrissian were both black. Then there was the whole run of NBA-themed minifigs that were based on actual players. There were also some tie fighter pilots with black/brown faces. As for the Black Criminal minifig? I would challenge him to back up that claim. As far as I know, Lego didn't introduce ethnic-skinned minifigs until 2002. (There *were* Lego Native Americans in the late 1990s, but they were all yellow-faced.)
-
Lego Ninjas, Lego Zombies. Cant wait! When Lego Half Life? Megablocks have that Halo franchise
-
At first glance I thought this article was going to be about Pogs featuring Lego people... Gotta admit, I'm glad it wasn't.
-
Today was a cavalcade of LEGO AWESOME. First I get to crack open both my Pirate & City Advent calendars ... and now this. LEGO Robot FTW!
-
Awwww still no Bowie, although the Magician is still awsomwe!
-
Even then, it wasn't right away. The first run of Star Wars featured yellow figures. It wasn't until it came time to do Mace and Lando that they came to a crossroads. They had portrayed all of the white characters as yellow, so they risk alienating fans by either making the black characters "white" or by differentiating them from the rest of the yellow characters by introducing two black characters and a bunch of yellow ones. So, they redid the whole thing to have white and black. And on a side note, only licensed characters have featured the differentiation. When they did basketball, you could buy packs of actual athletes, both white and black. In Star Wars, Indy, Spider-Man, Batman, and I guess Harry Potter (are there any black people in HP?) they had the differing races too. Everyone else, to my knowledge, has been yellow. Even in Lego Rock Band, if the figures are based off of actual musicians, or the named musicians from previous Rock Band games, then the race is defined. Everything else is yellow.
-
In the 70s, when LEGO really got into the mass minifig production, they did testing with children to see which color(s) they preferred. The majority chose yellow as their favorite. How is it that yellow = white? As for the licensed characters, blame Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and whatever else they've been doing. Lego ignored race until Star Wars.
-
I always figured the Mace was a special thing because of the license and the character, and that they were actually making a point of having everyone be yellow so that race wouldn't be assigned (beyond some obvious, yet in poor taste, Asian jokes). I never knew they'd done one before...that's both kinda cool, and not terribly bright on their part. (cool that they did it at all, not terribly bright that he was the crook and the only one...just to clarify) Maybe it has to do with them being ultimately based in Denmark, which all indications that I've seen point to having a smaller ratio of people that aren't white to people that are than your average klan rally. Not saying it's right, just pointing it out.
-
Can we get a black Lego figure? Go to any store and try to find a Lego set with a black figure other than Mace Windu. I talked to a guy that worked at Toys R Us and he said there was another black figure in the City set a few years ago that was a criminal. The only black Lego figure was a criminal!!!! You have to be fucking kidding me!
-
I want that Magician. Then he will rule my Lego Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water with an iron and magical fist!
-
Maybe 13 is from the LEGO bricks Rock Band game?
-
The clown is scarier than the zombie. And Lego finding a reason to charge more for its already pretty pricey product by aking them limited run collectibles? Way to go. Maybe they'll create Lego versions of the HOT WHEELS collectors. Ick. The fun idea with that photo is to pick who your 4 person team would be (no duplicates) for some quest mission. Me? I'd pick the Ninja (no brainer), Robin Hood (marksman ship, leadership and moxy), the robot (brute strength) and the cheerleader (distraction).
-
LOL, why do you say that? Is it the facial expression?
-
I'm just gonna come out and say it. The lego astronaut is a total douchebag.
-
I'm fairly certain that "Lego Caveman" is actually "Lego Charlie Manson." Which means, I guess, that his accessories will be lyrics to really bad folk songs and a swastika sticker so you can have pre- and post-incarceration Charlies. Oh, and that Lego Robot is the tits.
-
Number #13 is a hipster who pirates mp3s of Huey Lewis' "It's Hip to Be Square" and movie rips of "Lock, Block, and Two Smoking Lego Barrels".
-
These look amazing, especially the updated Classic Space astronaut. Only problem is they are reportedly going to be in stores for only two months before being replaced by another wave of figures. I almost guarantee you these will be hard to find and expensive on the secondary market. Which is too bad, since these are some of the best minifigures that LEGO has ever made.
-
They've done Vikings before, but I think that was a Dwarf in that picture. Also, the Mad Scientist is from the Lego Agents sets.
-
I wish these were hinting at what the Lego universe will be selling next year. Some are revisits to past themes. They've done Western before (#4 & #7), Ninja (#9), Aquanauts/Divers/Atlantis (#6), NASA/Space (#14), Hospital/Rescue (#10), generic Horror (#16), and Forest Men (#11). The magician (#8) might offer possibilities, and the cheerleader (#2) and wrestler (#15) could suggest more sports themed stuff. The caveman (#1) could fit with the return of Lego dinosaurs. Not sure about the crash test dummy (#5) and the robot (#12), but I could care less about the clown (#3).
-
for #13 I'm guessing "Emo Kid in hoodie" Is #10 a nurse with syringe? Is #4 just a Indiana Jones clone?(yes, I'm aware LEGO already makes Indy sets)
-
what do we think #s 5, 10, and 13 are? I am really hoping that #13 is a Lego Hipster.
-
I think 13 is just a random emo kid.
-
That magician is almost as cool as Lego's minifig of Lord Sam Sinister: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-MINIFIG-ADVENTURERS-LORD-SAM-SINISTER_W0QQitemZ350284083585QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518e8ef181 And that robot looks a hell of a lot like Playmobil's robot: http://cgi.ebay.com/Playmobil-Geobra-Special-Robot-Rollerblades-4528A_W0QQitemZ280430767583QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item414af9eddf Both are already in my collection, and Lord Sinister has a Luger. Still, zombies!
-
Based on what I'm reading, it sounds like what you're actually going to be able to buy are blind-bagged (not boxed, which I find odd) parts. So you might get a Zombie head, Caveman accessories, Cheerleader torso and Robot legs in one bag, and then something completely different in another. While I understand wanting people to buy more stuff, I'm not sure it's an idea I'm okay with. Especially since it sounds like they're gonna be in the neighborhood of $3.50 a bag, and there's a second set of 16 that will come out later in the year and replace the first. (Also, what IS #13? I figured out that #5 is a Crash Test Dummy, and the rest are pretty self-explanatory...but I don't get that one)
-
This. Is. Awesome.
-
They need to sell a bag of zombie heads, so you can turn any lego figure into a zombie- zombie spaceman: check. zombie clown: check. zombie ninja: double check.
-
there have been "Minifig Zombies" before. Not by lego, but they are out there. I think Brickarms used to make them
-
There was actually an entire series of Lego ninja sets a few years back. They were pretty nifty. That said, Lego zombies? Hell yes.
-
8,12, and 16 would pretty much make the most crushing super villain team ever.
-
Neat. Though I personally don't understand a few of them. Ellen Degeneres in a green pirate tee? A naked guy with robotic nipples? And I give Lego five minutes before some PC weirdos complain about how "offensive" the Indian guy is. Still, the Mexican Wrestler and the Mustache-Twirling villain guy look cool.
