Toy News International has information on the next wave of 5" Doctor Who Classic figures created by Character Options in the UK and distributed in the States by Underground Toys... and for fans of old school Who baddies it's a doozy. The lineup includes:• The Morbius Creature from "The Brain of Morbius"
• Cyberman from "Earth Shock"
• Ice Warrior
• The Master from "The Deadly Assassin" (seriously, this thing will give you nightmares)
• Voc Robot from "The Robots of Death"
• Mummy with Canopic Jar from "Pyramids of Mars"
Hitting retail in February, the assortment features such fan favorites as the extra-crispy Master figure, a Voc Robot with nifty glowing red eyes and the endearingly goofy Morbius Creature -- a character who seems more at home in an episode of MST3K than Doctor Who. A great lineup though this may be, it still seems woefully incomplete without a Scaroth from "City of Death." Like you wouldn't buy a toy of an ascot-wearing alien.

I've been a Doctor Who fan since around 1978, so believe me, we are out there. It's just harder to spot us because we aren't as overtly nerdy as Star Trek fanatics.

Yes, just nevermind our fashionable giant scarves.

The Man With Two Brains replied to Kevin:
Right... because all we do is wear giant scavrves and turn our trash cans into Dalek replicas...
...asshole.

The Man With Two Brains replied to The Man With Two Brains:
...that should read "scarves" not "scavrves".
I should also note that not everyone likes Tom Baker the best. I happen to put Tennant, Davison, and Pertwee all above him on my list as far as the portrayals done by the actors. There's no denying that Baker got many of the best stories, but I never liked his portrayal of the Doctor the best, so as far as the scarf thing: no. I'd much rather use a piece of fake celery in my lapel than wear a 21-foot-long scarf!

Kevin replied to The Man With Two Brains:
My favs, btw, are Troughton, Eccleston, C. Baker and Paul McGann. The last two might be puzzling, but what I can I say? I like dashing, animated Doctors, I suppose. Although that means I should rank David Tennant higher, I suppose. Hmm...

John replied to Kevin:
Paul McGann and Colin Baker?? Puzzling?? No way! These two are NOT puzzling at all. Baker got screwed over by the BBC and McGann only received his due with the original BBC novels and the audio stories.
KUDOS TO YOU and THANK YOU!!!!
I know for some fans of the new series, there WERE other actors who played the Doctor. My favorite is William Hartnell...THE ORIGINAL DOCTOR. As I get older, I am getting to be just him...lol.
Your choices...puzzling to the new fans, BUT not to the long standing fans. Hope to hear more from you.

Kevin replied to The Man With Two Brains:
Dude, I'm a huge Doctor Who fan. It was a joke.

The Man With Two Brains replied to Kevin:
My apologies. I've been mocked enough by non-Who fans with that same sort of joke that it prompts a bit of a sharp reaction from me.

John replied to Doc:
Now Now Now...there is room enough for all fans of all types...whether Star Trek (and its' optimistic view of the future) or Doctor Who (and the quirky, endearing, but serious and emotional side of life)....and yes, even Star Wars and its' mythos and legend.
Let's be good-natured and good-hearted towards everyone.
Just don't make fun of Doctor Who fans based on Classic Who and not the new Series.
Any 8th Doctor Who (Paul McGann) fans out there? Only one tv movie, but alot of original novels and audio stories to draw from and HE IS GREAT!!!!

Really cool action figures. The Fourth Doctor & the Tardis would be really cool to have as well.

I want all of those, they're so well done. Especially the Earthshock Cyberman (my favourite) and Morbius.
I wonder if they'll do a D84 or SV7 from the Robots of Death?

I need to change my pants.
The only problem is that the 7th and 8th Doctors are going to be released exclusively in an 11 Doctors boxset, which is going to be ungodly expensive, instead of a wave like this. It kind of screws over the fans who have been buying each Doctor as they've been released and now needs to buy a whole boxset if they want each incarnation of the character.

There are untold hundreds of thousands of Whovians out here -- even Sgt. Benton groupies like myself! Now *there's* an action figure that needs making!

These are pretty awesome. I second the motions on both Scaroth (who, will almost certainly be released at some point), and Sgt. Benton to have their own figures. To that list I'd like to add Sutekh since this line has the Osiran "Mummy" Robot from Pyramids of Mars, it'd be nice to have the big bad with God-like power from that storyline as well! Also, would it kill them to release a White & Black Guardian two-pack and a Celestial Toymaker at some point?

The 4th Doctor, D84, and SV7 were in the first batch of Classics.
Series 3 really needs Sutekh, Scaroth, Leela, and Lord Nimon.

The Man With Two Brains replied to Evil Monkey Pope:
We also need MANY other characters, not the least of which non-exclusives of Hartnell and Troughton, either an Ainsley or Delgado Master, the Brig, etc.

I think Morbius is an epic fail. Maybe it should have been a build-a-figure, but mostly I think its because there are about 1,000 other figures I would have rather seen before that one.
To a lesser extent I have similar feelings toward this Master. Maybe Anthony Ainley or the Delgado Estate haven't approved likenesses yet, but those are the Master figures I want a lot more than this one.
Now the Cyberman is nothing short of spectacular. That's my favorite design out of all of them and they did it justice. The Ice Warrior ain't bad either, but I would have liked an Ice Lord in this wave to go with it.
