...so that technically puts it ahead of the actual Matrix movie, which resulted in Reloaded and Revolutions. Question -- is that really Carrie-Anne Moss in those commercials? I doubt it is, but don't you think she'd have been available if the Japanese asked for her? (Via Super Punch)

I wouldn't be terribly surprised. Really big-name actors slumming in Japanese ads for a paycheck is a pretty common phenomenon.
I assume the thinking is being outside the US, appearing in something as gauche as a TV ad doesn't hurt their "Credibility"

Mmmm nose doesn't quite look right... Don't believe that is her.
Either way, funny shit. If there was an all Japanese commercials channel, I'd totally watch it.

Man, that would be an awesome idea. I would SO watch it. But the question is, would they have commercial breaks? "Oh my, these last two commercials haven't been bat-shit insane. The Japanese must be losing their touch. . . Oh, riiighht."

If you've seen Shia LeBeuf's Disturbia (and I have several times thanks to my daughter) you'll know that Carrie Ann Moss is no longer starving herself to fit in those Matrixy patent leather body suits. She has a nice, soft, motherly figure now.
I assume to the folks in Japan any big bald black guy looks like Morpheus, because that sure didn't look like Laurence Fishburne to me.
Speaking of, what's with this picture of Morpheus/Fishburn from wikipedia?

The woman doesn't look any more like Carrie-Ann Moss than the guy looks like Laurence Fishburne. Her build isn't similar, either.
It's a neat ad, though.
