I'm glad there have only been and shall be ONE unaltered Back To The Future (all three as one); I cannot watch Star Wars any more, I realized this while watching the '95 tapes. But the Bobs' trilogy seems intent on matching Evil Dead in video issues and reissues. Ok maybe I'm just miffed that I don't have a BluRay player, but I really don't want to watch old movies given a crystal clear presentation that makes them look like they were never shot on film!
Listening to people praise about BD is like listening to how great The Hangover was. Dude Where's My Car is a superior film and Pixar on VHS displays more depth in their visuals than anything on HDTV. Crap!!

...my apologies. I am also a detractor of 3D. I work in a cinema and peek in from time to time, can appreciate it when I'm watching, but it's just a novelty. I thought I loved it until I stepped into 2D Scrooge breaking up with his Jenny and got more drama out of it. I can't imagine seeing Monster House in 3d, except I know I wouldn't be watching the movie anymore. Sure we've seen BTTF countless times, in dozens of combinations, but surprise me. Don't tell me I'm gonna get a packet of Splenda free inside my box off Lipton bags.

3d might be a novelty the first and 100th time someone like Michael Bay uses it (Transformers 3D anyone?), but Avatar uses 3d to convey Cameron's vision of a 'real' world. He seldom uses it as a gimic. I'm sorry, but if you still believe 3d is a gimic or fad that will go away after Avatar, you're probably too old.
Watching Avatar for the second time, I couldn't help but feel that this time NEXT year, we are going to be talking about The Hobbit 3d as the event of the decade...

JPyke replied to Nicnac:
Well it's not for everyone. I hated the 3D in Avatar. Not that it looked bad, but it gave me a headache and my head felt all foggy and wonky after 2.5 hours of artificial depth perception. I'll never go see a 3D movie again. It's more of a detraction from the movie itself than anything it does to add to the film.
But that's just my opinion.
(Also if you don't think 3D is a fad, you're probably too young. It's come and gone before. One movie isn't going to cement it into cinema for all of eternity)

Nicnac replied to JPyke:
That's a valid point, as is Kevin's comment below.
A friend is clinically blind in one eye. Obviously, 3d movies are not in his future. But, I liken this to sound in audio recordings becoming stereo. Just because a friend might be deaf in one ear, does not make the technology pointless.
My wife suffers from motion sickness such that she cannot play a fist person shooter for a minute without wanting to puke. Avatar made her dizzy in one single scene (when Jake was high up the hometree and looked down at the landscape).
My point is, if you are not able to watch the 3d without some adverse effect, then it is not for you. This, however, does not mean the technology has no legitimate application in the media. Avatar is a proof of concept. The imagery will get better, the 3d more refined. If you are blind in one eye, or you need glasses or a new prescription, or you suffer from motion sickness, nothing will ever make sitting still while your brain tells you it's moving better. However, if you are lucky and can watch well crafted camera work in 3d and not get sick, you are in for a treat.
As I said before... bring on The Hobbit 3d. I'm ready.

Since you mentioned that you sat through Avatar twice, I now have the question everything you say, plus your sanity. (but you must have amazing bladder control or managed to refrain from the "It's only a quarter more for 75 ounces up-sell at the concession counter).

So right after the new era of 3d entertainment begins in a huge fashion, we get a FUTURE version of 3d in blue/red???
How... special.

What bums me out is that I just can't see 3-D. I have a lazy eye that mostly corrected itself when I STOPPED wearing glasses as a kid, but the alignment is still a little off and 3-D just looks blurry to me. So when it comes to movie-going, I'm kinda f*ed.

How about a film extra to make rehydrate my mini pizza into an awesome supersized pizza. That would be delightful.

This is a hoax. Nothing more than a talented example of Photoshop. Just look at the BTTF.com watermark on the bottom right of the box art.

Soooo...realizing that your kids grow up to be fucktards prompts you to go to the future and correct them in their adult incarnations instead of becoming a more attentive and caring parent when they're young and would make a difference?

According to other movie blogs, this particular ad is FAKE but the impending Blu-Ray release of the Back to the Future trilogy is indeed REAL. Not for July, but it will come out sometime this year, according to Universal.
Still...what I wouldn't give for Jaws 19.

I was thinking yesterday that come 2015, we should wear hologram hats and plastic ties, and I thought it'd be cool if max spielberg made jaws 19.
this might be fake, but its a damn good idea.
I also want someone to ask zemeckis where the fuck's his flying car?
