So what's more racist -- the American version for color-coding the Power Rangers according to their ethnicity or the original Japanese version for only selecting Japanese people? Still the American version, huh? Enh, it was worth a shot. (Via Gorilla Mask)

Usually I don't really like the College Humor stuff (they try too hard sometimes), but that was pretty spot on. :)

Funny stuff, kind of takes me back. Funny now that they are reairing the original MMPR no one in todays generation seems to be complaining.
The guys that made MMPR have talked about the color situation before. In all honosty they said the idea never crossed their minds. They just didn't think like that and where kind of disgusted that people not only did think like that but where trying to say that the producers and what not did as well. They put Trini in the yellow suit cause she was the smallest and easist to pass as a guy in the japanese footage (Zuyranger's SaberRanger was a dude. . funny enough named Boi). It's kind of funny to see that creators reaction to all the "Controversy". Also the Red Ranger wasn't Native American till Zeo.

Actually, he was called TigerRanger. /nerd
And making Tommy randomly Native-American was the most amazing thing ever. Everyone needed some kind of special cultural background, and since he had the cliche "indian" hair, they just decided "What the hell."

That's crazy, 'cause I was just thinking the other day about how non-PC it was to make the black ranger a black guy and the yellow ranger an asian chick.

That's the first time other than the movie that Zordon's mouth actually worded his words.

Too bad it took till Time Force for there to be a girl leader, and she wasn't even the Red Ranger! And there was that girl who was the red ranger in SPD, right? But she turned out to be one of the villains. Power Rangers taught me girl leaders can only produce evil :D

So, I'm going to be the first to get his panties in a twist over this, but the white ranger isn't the leader, the red one is.
