I just read a review where the reviewer was complaining about the motion tracker constantly beeping. ITS SUPPOSED TO DO THAT YOU STUPID CUNT-KNUCKLE! How you can give a game a negative review based solely on something so integral to being a Marine is beyond me. I wanna know his name so I track him down and chew his fucking face off. Haven't played it yet, but I have to say it really bothers me they had Rebellion make the game. OK, they made the Jaguar and '99 PC Version, which both were pretty good at that time, but in my opinion AVP 2, released in 2000 or 2001 was the one game that really stood out. It was made by Monolith, had three really good single-player stories and the multiplayer was a lot of fun. By the way, the controls were very intuitive. None of the reviews that I've read ever compare it to AVP2 on PC!

Just got the game today (shipment was delayed here grr). I like it. played SP w/the alien and yes it has a learning curve because getting used to walking/jumping on walls/ceilings is different but innovative (IMO). Plus yea the demo meh, in straight up reg. DM i'm not a fan this game is definently a team based game. (either TDM or other modes like Pred hunt, infestation or survival!) Anyway wanna add me to xboxlive for some online gaming goodness go for it. GT: MergedLoki

It's not out here until tomorrow, so I've told the wife to fuck off with the kids and leave me in my pants with a crate of beer, a big bag of weed and a huge stack of Haribo, ready to play the shit out of AvP. Kebabyuchenko xxx

And now a public service announcement brought to you by The Admiral: I don't know if you any of you people had the super special edition of this game ordered but apparently there are major issues with it - namely the facehugger's tail is broken. This means that if you got your copy of the game (probably from Gamestop because they are the only ones who have gone ahead and sold it) then you should go to the Troubleshooting section of Sega's support page to enter a ticket. Replacing the facehugger shows up as an option. Creating an account is required. If you ordered the game from anywhere else you're fucked (just like me!) because no one knows when they will be shipped or in what condition. This message was brought to you by The Admiral. You may know return to your regularly scheduled nerdery. Anyway, I picked up the regular edition yesterday and I'm enjoying it. Spraying bullets like confetti in pitch-black hallways, watching those little dots on your proximity meter and realizing OHMYGOD THEY'RE RIGHT ABOVE ME!!!!! Some of the graphics are lousy - your Marine's arm looks freaky, up close the textures are crap but the aliens look magnificent as does most of the scenery. I didn't get too into the game yet, though. Sorry for the long post, guys.

Haven't played it but it looks more like the '99 version than anything, which seems awesome enough for me to at least rent it. The reviews I've read say that playing the aliens (both xeno's and pred's) are the hardest part, but that was how it was on the '99 version. Being an MP is like any other shooter, where as being an Alien or Predator takes a very different approach. If only my Xbox hadn't died....

HATERS GONNA HATE.

I had this game pre-ordered, but after I played as the Predator and the Marine on the demo, I went back to Gamestop and canceled my preorder. I might still play it sometime down the road, but it didn't strike me as a game worth paying full price on the day of its release. The control configurations themselves aren't BAD (though it certainly loses points for giving you 3 preset configurations and no way to customize them) but the WAY it controls is absolutely horrible.

Ok first the demo was not unplayable. I picked up the controls very fast. Its called a learning curve. Second, i've noticed game sites always nit-pick over stupid stuff. Like Gamespot was complaining they were on a jungle planet, and that fighting the aliens outside was unfun lol.
-
The demo was OK, but nothing special. It lost huge points for me because I was a Marine. WHAT? Who the hell would want to be a marine when you can be a badass Predator or Alien? Waste of time. I wept.

Don't you both have a K in your names?

Nik with a K loses spelling cred.

Nick with a C looses nerd cred.

There have been AvP games for years, man. The team behind this game did an FPS for the Jaguar in... '94? And then a PC game in '99. Somehwere in between all that and afterward, there's bee RTS, more shooters, and even a Capcom beat 'em up. It's a pretty old franchise.

Some of these ideas, like Aliens vs. Predators, just seems like a naturally great concept for a videogame, I'm surprised it's taken them so long to come out with one and waste their time with movie versions instead. :) -- Nick from City of Kik http://nickleshi.blogspot.com

I picked this up yesterday actually. I wouldnt call it awesome... I only played thru the tutorial on each character so far, and it looks great but the controls are a strange especially for the alien. I found myself trying to jump between walls getting lost. It doesnt help that the walls and ceilings look similar in the dark. We'll see how it goes, im enjoying it but not as much as I hoped.
-
I disagree with the first poster. While they pointed out that the demo was not the final cut of the game, I'd still rate it as unplayable.
-
The single play leaves a lot to be desired, and the Alien parts alone might make you puke (vertigo is a bitch) overall it is a decent game, but nothing to get too excited over, The MP has a lot of potential but I was glad I got it from gamefly and didn't buy it

I've only played the demo, but I've loved it. The fact that the demo is the worst multiplayer mode and has species balancing on says alot about that. But beware. THREE whole review sites gave it less than a six. Now, around ten or so have said that it's a great game despite the learning curve and gave it around an eight, but you're guaranteed to get a shit ton of tools coming in here with "DURH IT R BAD GAEM INTERNET TOLD MEH SO!" comments.
