Anyway, as far as I'm concerned Bay's carrying on the G1 tradition of nonsensical crap. Sometimes an Animated or a Beast Wars slips through the cracks of the "good vs. evil robots" metastory, but it's not like Bay's mediocre, flashy movies actually TOOK SOMETHING AWAY from the brand that it had to start with. I'm a big Transformers fan, but practically the first fucking thing the line did was try to sell us Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp because they were all different colors. TFs as a brand was always very unapologetic in its quest for revenue, and by definition the live-action movies have made it more successful than it's ever been. So once again, saying that Michael Bay regrets any of the decisions that currently allow him to fill his pool with coke and hookers is redonkulous. It's not like very many people are going to buy the game and NOT see the movies.

• I have been a transformers fan from the beginning through every incarnation. Bay's transformer vision certainly has not been good. It is very flawed. I am willing to take the good with the bad, if it means that new transformers products, cartoons, movies comics, etc. will be produced. Bay can keep making bad transformers movies all he wants. Transformers are mainstream now, not just a niche market. There will be more watered down and nonsensical crap produced, but there was some of that happening anyway in the early 2000s. I think we are more likely to see coherent stories that appeal to transfans as opposed to mainstream audiences, than the 1 per decade that we have gotten since G1 ended.

• Maybe it was people complaining about how much the movies sucked? I don't think we'd have gotten a game with such strong call-backs to G1 if many people hadn't made it clear that was what they prefered.

If they were non transformers movies, they probably would've not done the business they did. Bay was on a downward slide for a while due to his inabilty to tell a coherent, let alone good, story. Transformers nostalga along with a new generation of potential customers was at an all time high, I'm pretty sure anyone could've did a Transformers movie and had a hit. • So all this blasting of Michael Bay (which is really blasting the ILM creative team. The reason why the TF movies are mediocre is because of Michael Bay, largely, and NOT the excellent artists he's commissioned) is really missing the point because these video-game robots don't have to turn into a real-life car on an IMAX SCREEN. Yes, Shockwave makes me pee a little in delight, but if that character model showed up in a feature film instead of a video game I'd be saying that it, well, looks like a video game. There's a reason why, when talking about feature films, that that phrase is a pejorative. "But wait! They could just spruce it up a little and then use it in a movie!" Sure I guess, but it still clearly doesn't turn into anything real (which is far easier to design) and it doesn't even have a face. Welcome to visual effects technology circa 1995. Meanwhile, the actual real Transformers films invented new VFX technology to create something that hadn't been seen before, and appealed to an incredibly broad audience. Michael Bay can kick himself, but it won't change the fact that he's the richest fuckwad in Hollywood.

• I used to think that Megatron and Soundwave double-teamed Starscream to asset their dominance. But I never thought that humans could have the sex with transformers. I mean, you could infer something sexual with Headmasters. Something akin to torture porn, I guess? Ha! Targetmasters. OK, I get it now.

• This game is an instant buy for me anyway, so pre-ordering is no biggie. I'm holding out until they announce a super awesome special edition though. Then I will pre-order it.

• I sure hope they've been working on this game longer than they've taken to announce and release it. I tend to worry about licensed franchise games because only about 1 in 15, if not 1 in 20 or more, are good. I anticipate the arrival of this game but I'm not getting my hopes too high.

• I did as well. Now I'm a tad disappointed that it's not a figure. I'm hoping he is does become DLC, I prefer to get all my games through Steam for ease of storage.

• Are you people still ragging on the movies? This is one of the reasons I dislike War for Cybertron--people immediately use these designs as a big stick to beat up on Bay's work. I'm not defending the story of the second film or the questionable abilities of Megan Fox, but you have to admit they were a "necessary evil"--if the first movie had bombed (like a lot of you wished it had) we wouldn't have gotten Transformers Animated. Without the first movie there wouldn't be a sequel, and then no War for Cybertron. The reason Transformers has survived 20+ years as a top-name franchise (as opposed to, say, Masters of the Universe) is because it's allowed itself to (no pun intended) transform into new versions so as a kid growing up in the 90's could become a Transformers fan at the beginning of Beast Wars and not have to slog through a decade of backstory just to enjoy what was going on. Love it or hate it, the movies were a gateway drug--they brought in new blood and their money to the franchise which is never a bad thing.

• Holy balls! I could almost defend Bayformers, since traditional designs are incabable of moving with all the subtleties of a human...but this is a much better middle ground. Adding complexity while being instantly recognizeable, its simple genius. As a huge TFormer fan, my brain still hurts when getting too involved in the mythology of it all though. Why do they have room for people still in Cybertron modes, why even bother with humanoid shapes, why did some arrive on earth with existing names based on English puns, etc. It's pretty impossible to make sense of. The films avoided all that by making them space meteors or something, but the classic way is definitely cooler and more fun, even if it is almost as stupid when you think too hard.
