This guy, apparently. Unlike some, I liked the new BSG (what I saw of it) but I will readily admit it could have been much improved if Gaius Baltar had been called "Loco" and Starbuck's real name was "El Capitan." Thanks to Steve S. for the tip.

I doubled that for you. They are about .25 seconds off, so you may want to turn the sound down on one. http://bit.ly/ca4V18

It did have Fat Lee though...A+ for effort!!
-
It does slap you around a little bit, true, but then so did The Wire and Deadwood, and those were totally worth it :)
-
Some people just can't let the cheesy past go.
-
Fair enough. I've been kind of interested in giving it another shot, but the less than glowing reviews of the ending have further held me back. There's nothing like getting into a show, just to be slapped in the face at the end. Oh, and on topic, I loved the video.
-
No, you don't, but in BSG's defense, the miniseries was a little slapdash, and the characters didn't really gel together. It wasn't until I was about four or five episodes in that I realized that I was watching something truly amazing, not just decent enough to keep watching. I'd say the test of the show is if you watch the first episode of the series itself, "33," and aren't impressed at all.

what the HELL is wrong with the NEW BSG? i loved it. even thou i wasn't a fan of the original.

And Starbuck's the Messiah, who knew? I still liked it, and didn't really have a problem with all the god stuff, and I'm a full blown atheist. Besides, Dune was all messianic and god centric, and that was good. I was just pleased that there was sort of a happy ending, those people suffered a shit-pot of pain. They deserved Eden. I think though, without getting too political, that you had to watch it as it aired, and you had to be paying attention to the news, because a great deal of it was commentary on the post 9-11 politics of the US. The Cylon attack is 9-11, some of the tactics used with the Cylon prisoners are "enhanced interrogation." (Leoben even got his head dunked under water, evoking waterboarding) The resistance when the were on New Caprica mirrored the Insurgency in Iraq, complete with Police stations being targets of suicide bombers, in the name of killing "collaborators." There were many more examples (trials, the role of religion in government, not knowing who the enemy could be, religious conflict, etc). It managed to do its political commentary without condoning or condemning any political viewpoint, the characters wandered ideologically, and I thought that was pretty darn cool. I remember talking with my friends after each new episode about what item from the news they had worked into the show. Not every episode, but a large number of them. Without that context I think it suffers somewhat. Caprica has had a little of that topical stuff work in, but not as much. Did you notice at the police station when they realized that the suicide bomber had been in their custody, but had been let go due to a misspelling of his name? That's a direct reference to the Underpants Bomber, who was allowed to fly in part because of a misspelling. Anyway, didn't mean to get political, and I will not discus politics outside the context of BSG. I was just trying to point out that some shows need to be watched while they air, and not later.

I loved the show, and that was really well done, but there was a noticeable dearth of awesome mustache.

EP... Wait for it. ...IC!!!

My nerd card is intact, but I still prefer the original, mainly because of how darn likable Dirk Benedict was as Starbuck. The new one didn't have the same heart as the original, and I didn't like them making everybody secret Psylons.
-
the song actually fits. BSG was one sabotage after another. love that song, can i burn the nerd card in hip protest?
-
In...fucking...credible. Seriously, this one gets a million billion stars.
-
Im sold! makes me wanna watch the show now. I like how that HBIC chicks real name is like 12 words

I watched the Pilot, after many of my friends talked my ear off about how damn awesome the show is. I didn't care for it. For a character based revamp of a classic, cheesy sci-fi show, it had very few sympathetic (or even interesting) characters. Baltar was the only person who I even gave half a rat's ass about. Everyone else was just lame, boring, whiny, or any combination of the three. So no, I don't like it. And no, I don't have to turn my nerd card in.
-
More like "Hey, children, god does exist and gaius baltar is his angel!"
-
Meh, sorry I was with them right up to the final hour and then it just sucked ass.
-
I chose to see it more as a "we respect our audience's intelligence enough to let them use their imaginations" ending =)
-
Pretty damn awesome... just watched 'em side by side.
-
how about I liked it right until the garbage throw away "we don't know what we are doing either" ending?
-
Anyone who didn't like new BSG needs to turn in their nerd card. Or get an even nerdier card.
