Felicia Day, star of web videos The Guild and Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog, who also played "Vi" in the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will portray a werewolf-hunting descendant of Little Red Riding Hood in the new Syfy Saturday Original Movie, Red.Honestly, give Day's fame with Dr. Horrible and The Guild, I wonder if making a Syfy movie isn't actually a bit beneath her. I mean, Debbie Gibson starred in Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, and the only reason she got that role is because she did a pictorial in Playboy and reminded people she existed. If Day's happy, I'm happy, but I'm just sayin' she shouldn't sell herself short.Scheduled to premiere in 2011, Red is Syfy's latest re-imagining of classic fairy tales, legends and pop culture characters. The new line of films launched with Beauty and the Beasts: A Dark Tale, which starred Estella Warren, on February 27.
Syfy, one of television's most prolific producers of original movies, is also developing films around the stories of Aladdin, Sinbad the Sailor and Hansel & Gretel, among other projects.
In the action-packed Red, Red (Day) brings her fiancé home, where he meets the family and learns about their business - hunting werewolves. He's skeptical until bitten by a werewolf. When her family insists he must be killed, Red tries saving him.

Sadly, there are still people who may not know who she is. It might get her out to a wider audience. Plus, a paycheck is a paycheck.

I, for one, think this is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. Yeah, SyFy's movies are pretty bad, but for some reason, I watch. *lulz* I hope this movie's going to be on par with Tin Man. I would love that.

I vote Alessandro Juliani for the Big Bad Wolf. Dude needs to play a bad guy already (looks like Smallville isn't going to let him be Ruin, booo). And he's pretty wolfy already with those awesome sideburns and sharp teeth. And deep voice. And dark eyes.

She strikes me as the type of person that would make a SyFy movie just for the kitsch of it.
It will most likely be horrible, but it might be watchable. Her being in it does bump it a few points in that direction.

It sounds kinda interesting to me actually. If it's like Wolfman then I think it would be cool. Plus it would be great to see a woman do that sort of thing. Though I haven't seen any SyFy movies, I'm being positive and looking forward to this at least until I see a trailer.

You should check out the Alice in Wonderland movie they made, it was supposed to be pretty good.

MKUltra replied to DoctorSmashy:
Confirmed: "Alice" was pretty good. As was "Tin Man". Both are definitely worth watching. However, neither properly represent the typical SyFy original movie, which are generally campy and awful. I'm hoping "Red" is decent, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Now wait a minute, I remembered Debbie Gibson. I still think about her at least once a month when I rub one out.
It's like we have married sex.

Not that Tin Man was exceptional or anything, but it was definitely entertaining and it's cast was pretty stellar. Tin Man wasn't considered a step down for Zooey Deschanel, why should it be one for Felicia Day? And, even if one would consider those projects beneath the actresses, that doesn't mean they can't pull it off and make it work better than expected. Perspective, Rob. Seriously, get some.
Also, that picture is the tits. Wowza.

Tin Man wasn't a SyFy Saturday night movie.
It was a 3 part miniseries, and something like 6 hours long. Same with Alice.
There's a difference between their "miniseries events" and their "original movies". Namely, the miniseries events are done on a HUGE budget with big name actors and directors.
The original movies star former SyFy Channel Series extras(Corbin Nemec, anyone?)and are filmed on budgets that make Evil Dead look like it went overboard spending.

I think it's Corrin Nemec. Because, he can't lose. Now I shall return to my comic book shop, where I hurl insults, and not receive them.

On any other website this would be a guilty pleasure but I have to say I absolutely LOVE those Saturday night Syfy movies. They are campy with horrible acting by washed-up actors and effects that look like they were made using Microsoft Paint but I love 'em. I freakin do and I am proud of it. A bunch of like-minded nerds, a case of cheap bear and delivery pizza and Saturday night is the best night of the week.

Because of the way my browser scrolls, no matter what I did I either had Felicia Day's breasts on screen or the top 2 lines of text cut off. Neither way made this article easy to read.

Felicia broke my heart when she told me she doesn't grind trolls no matter how much experience or gold they offer...
Okay, she never said that, nor ever spoke to me directly, but I keep telling myself she did so I don't start drooling over her perfect geeky girlieness.
This movie might be interesting because it sounds very quirky, which is perfect for her self-aware acting.

I'm about to say the most pathetic trivia facts ever, but MSvGO wasn't a SyFy original. It was a film made by The Asylum, who usually make cheap knock off films of popular properites. SyFy's been airing some of their stuff lately.
Transmorphers 1 and 2 were both made by The Asylum and at least the second one was aired on SyFy. They also made a Sherlock Holmes movie starring Ianto from Torchwood and Reed from Enterprise which I expect to air on SyFy soon enough. Oh, and the first ever John Carter of Mars movie. Which blew chunks. Massively. Still pissed about that.
