• I was afraid of ET for some time when I was kid, so much so that when we watched it in my third grade class, I tried my best to not pay attention. But since then I've been okay. The movie's not bad and the character is a bit of an icon of sorts. However, I am still terrorfied of Chucky from Child's Play. Oh the nightmares

• My Mom took me to see ET when I was a kid. This was back in the old days when the movie theaters were huge, and there was like one in town. We went and saw ET. I'll never forget that scene, where they find him in the corn field and he makes that vomiting Graaaaaa! noise and waves his ethiopian arms around. I got up out of my seat and ran the fuck out of there so fast that I had to wait outside of the theater for my Mom. Damnit I hated that movie. So then I finally get the balls to see it and then there's the part where he's dieing and he's all dog shit white. I hated that part too. All the issues I have in live, I blame on that piece of shit movie. Mom still thinks it's funny though.....

• I was never afraid of E.T., I just thought that the movie was way too sickeningly sweet and really kinda sucked.

• Atari E.T. was, indeed awful. Not quite Krull awful, but still pretty bad.

• Plenty of us out there.. I hate E.T with a passion. He WAS behind my curtain and he INTENDED to kill me.

• I owned it too and I really don't see what made it so much worse than other bad games of the era. Has anyone played Adventures of Tron or any of the Swordquest games? Now those were awful games, but nobody ever trots those pieces of shit out to show how much they know about crap games.

• Perfect for the Universal theme park this summer. Wasn't there some sort of ET tie-in toy/mug/beach towel/crap you could get by eating so many bags of Reese's Pieces? I remember my crazy cousins eating bags of them at my uncle's house. Sorry, I disagree. I did play ET-- my cousins had the ET cart for the 2600 in '83 and the general consensus between the three of us was that it sucked.(Still looking for a Pitfall cart and I think my cousins borrowed my Dig Dug because I can't find it.)

• As someone who not only played the 2600 E.T. game, but actually was unfortunate enough to have OWNED it, I must say Yes, It really was THAT bad

• I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. I loved ET as a kid. Still do. That being said, I LOLed too when I saw that shirt.

• I want to find the patch of desert where all the cartridges were supposedly buried.

• Much of my continued enjoyment of ET comes from the fact that somewhere along the line I decided that ET and the other aliens who left him behind were a hunting party, killing Earth game as is a customary rite of passage. They left behind not a dullard child like Elliot but a fully-grown, mature warrior who barely held back his contempt and rage for those around him as he sought their aid in hiding, surviving, and calling the mothership. ET is able to heal wounds because he was the party's medic. When he says he'll be "right here" he means in the mark left on Elliot's once innocent soul, in his nightmares. That's the fun of characters like ET or Wilson from Cast Away. You can write their dialogue in your head as the most filthy, perverted, murderous furies imaginable. And then you can write it down and send it to Rob for FFF.

• You hate that fucker too!? That bastard gave me <b>YEARS</b> of nightmares, night terrors, and waking hallucinations. I despise that movie to this day. Creepy-ass thing still terrifies me every time I see him.

• Once again someone who's probably never actually played the game rips into ET. There are MUCH worse games for the Atari 2600. Hell, at least ET was playable.

• I wasn't as scared of E.T. as much as weirded out because I thought he resembled a ham-shaped scrotum.
