Errgh. So the new Avengers cartoon still looks like a cartoon you'd see on Disney XD; I'm cool with that. It still stars Hulk, Iron Man and Cap kicking ass together, and the whole Who's Who in the Marvel Universe, Supervillains section. That's all I need, although since I am an Avengers fan, your mileage may vary. BUT THAT THEME SONG. GAH. I CAN'T FUCKING HANDLE IT. I can't imagine any of the Avengers cartoon's intended target audience, no matter how young and/or lame, thinking this theme song is anything other than one of Loki's cruel tricks. Or maybe something Thanos pulled for his girlfriend Death. Because every time I hear this shit, I want to kill myself and others. (Via Geeks of Doom)

I think it's a kick ass theme song. So does just about everyone I've talked to personally. Killer song for a killer cartoon. Easily the best superhero cartoon since Justice League and possibly better, though it still remains to be seen just how long they can maintain. But I personally think this song fits great with the show.
-
The Name Of the band is " Bad City." Hate On.
-
any one know the name of the unfortunate souls singing that damned theme? i would like to send them hate mail
-
Because if the series is supposed to be on Earth-616 i.e. regular Marvel universe, Nick Fury is white. Regardless of what the "target audience" may be familiar with, you can't just take a character with as much history and back story as Nick Fury and just change him around to be more "ethnically diverse". There are plenty of powerful, important characters in the Marvel universe who are of other races, so it is not as if there aren't enough minority characters so they have to use Ultimate/movie Nick Fury for all future Marvel media. Just because he isn't "ethnic" doesn't mean he should be replaced with a character that didn't even exist 10 years ago. Also in response to what The Chu said: The Jarvis as computer may be a throwback to the 90's Iron Man cartoon
-
Hey, don't insult 1994, rock was good back then. I think you're confusing it with 2004 Simple Plan-ish crap.
-
It sounds like the rejected theme for a horrible sequel to sonic heroes.
-
UGH! That was CRAP-tastic! The only cartoon that Marvel got right was WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN. Everything else that they animated is Poo-Doo, just like this!
-
And youtube had the courtesy of telling me that "this video is blocked *in your country* by the Disney Channel for copyright reasons". This is wrong on so many levels that I don't know where to start. Oh, anyway... There was very little reason for me to give you my money on the first place, DisMarNeyVel, but who knows ? That catchy tune might have trapped my heart. Now we'll never know and you'll never get my money.
-
Another sane opinion.
-
Thank you. A sane opinion.
-
I have no idea what you're talking about. You and Bricken are the ones that are "butthurt" (man I hate that idiotic term) over a stupid song from a stupid KID'S CARTOON! It's not worth getting angry over, that's all I'm saying.
-
So Marvel adds another crappy cartoon to their already huge pile of crappy cartoons. Big deal, they just want to make a few quick bucks from the sale of childrens' underpants.
-
Ha! You stole my thunder!
-
@Greg, As a long time AFI fan, I can tell you that even now in their current musical style they would never write anything as terrible as this.
-
woof. That theme song. Almost threw up in my mouth.
-
If the song was done by Ron Wasserman (Power Rangers), I think it'd b awesome.
-
Who ever picked that song must be a fan of the recent Sonic games.
-
That song is terrible. Why is Iron Man in charge? Hopefully Hawkeye or the Falcon will show up because the team is mostly just strong guys now. I always liked Hank Pym though, so that is a plus.
-
I can't imagine anyone testing worse with kids than Hank and Janet would, but he must have. It's also possible they didn't need a Team Asshole, either because this is aimed at younger kids who don't care about team bickering (which the theme seems to suggest), or because Tony, Janet, or Hank can pinch-hit as the Asshole in addition to their regular duties.
-
This is going to sound crazy, but I hold TV themes to a higher standard than Top 40 radio. Also, it's fallacious to assume that because people care about some minor terrible thing that they don't care about bigger terrible things, like world hunger or Ke$ha.
-
So many people have destroyed the Marvel Universe already, it doesn't take much. I think Howard the Duck destroyed it. Or was that Howard Mackie?
-
Why not? There's a low level of minority characters in comics still, so if they manage to reinvent a character as a black man successfully, why NOT run with it as often as you can? Especially a character like Nick who is a figure of great power, it's a positive image to have a minority in such a position of power.
-
I'm not sure what's worse...the fact they went with an emo theme, or the fact that emo themes aren't even popular anymore. I hear Thor is a cutter...
-
I have no problem with the intro as it reminds of the 1980's. It could have been a lot worse. They could have just had sixty seconds of "Got to get tough / YO JOE!"
-
What is Marvel's aversion to good voice acting? It's the main reason DCU pisses all over Marvel in the animated department.
-
The song sucked on toast.
-
A crappy cartoon for 8 yr olds could make or break the franchise for you? Really?
-
"This is what we should be doing! Using our abilities to help people!" /cringe
-
I spotted Alan Moore, but it still looks to me like The Monarch is the main baddy.
-
I was fine through the first minute, then the whiny voice came in and made it unbearable. Still, I was willing to tolerate it until the beat sped up at around 1:10. That's when I gave in to despair and shot myself.
-
this could probably make or break the Avengers franchise for me. I've been lost after Stupid Invasion and Bendis wanting his pet characters, blahblahblah. But I said the same thing about Wolverine and the X-Men which started strong and then somehow the comics got worse. Never thought Matt Fraction could stink so bad. Now he can stink up Thor too.
-
Eeh... Honestly, I don't think that's much better. I just don't see why it has to be a lyrical theme that sounds like something that'd play before a high school motivational speech.
-
Yeah, they gotta loose that theme song. It's crap.
-
Did you actually listen to the theme? Because it really is shit. You can enjoy all you want, but don't get butthurt and pull the "waaaah, u just agre wit dat guy! :(" card when people point it out.
-
A. That's funny. B. Damn that would be awesome. Especially if he was a Lantern.
-
Really? We live in a world of Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Ke$ha, you let some generic rock upset you this much? Perspective here people.
-
Didn't mind the theme song. I did mind the mix up of uni's, costumes, and overall look. As someone mentioned above, if this isn't ultimate, why is Nick Fury black? We get an old Antman outfit, but a Wasp costume that I thought she abandoned a long time ago. A throwback Thor, when clearly his current comic costume is far better. Same with Captain America. And Iron Man, they just threw every and any time period on to him. It looks like a mess.
-
The horror
-
Meh, that's just the Nick Fury that most of the target audience (and general non-comic-reading populace) will know, the one from the movies. Just like how Jarvis is a computer and not a butler.
-
Maybe it's my young, impressionable, mind, but I thoroughly enjoyed that theme song.
-
Ron Wasserman (of Power Rangers fame) was originally hired to compose the theme song to this show, but this theme was rejected. Some time ago it was released on the Rock Band network under the name "Revengers." Sadly it is not for sale anymore, but here is a link to hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGFzTumaysA
-
After all the build up, the theme wasn't near that bad. Bad? Yes, but ultimately forgettable. Not really ass-rape-bad as I was lead to believe.
-
The Vault, The Raft, The Ziploc, and The Sizzler.
-
It looks like Marvel Animation finally took a cue from DC's animation folk; the style is kind of Bruce Timm-esque. It's about time. I might have enjoyed more of their DTV output if they'd used this style previously.
-
still that is about 1/10th as gay as the theme for Star Trek: Enterprise.
-
Four supervillain prisons? I know there's The Vault and The Raft, but what other ones in the Marvel U are there? Or am I putting too much thought into this?
-
NNNEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRDDDDSSS!!!
-
Did Hawkeye not test well with kids or something?
-
Theme song? It's the inane dialog that made my head hurt. It's like this was written back in the 30's...
-
^ Never listened to AFI ^
-
Nick Fury is black and not Ultimate Nick Fury? Does this mean that because the artists of the Ultimates decided to make Nick Fury to the likeness of Sam Jackson, that Nick Fury will now and forever be black?
-
Ah, if AFI made a superhero trailer song... The worst part is that this is what's on the radio now. This is it. Neo-Emo-Punk brought to you by Hot Topic.
-
I'd watch this...especially if I was a child.
-
:15 Alan Moore is breaking out of super-prison and is going to destroy the Marvel Universe!
-
Rob, sometimes I think you WANT to be mad at things. Even if the thing you're mad at isn't remotely worth being mad at...like this song. But then you'll have all your sychophantic Bricken-fanboys echo whatever you write. "Oh, my ears! Why?!?!? I'm gonna go drink and shoot myself!" Whatever.
-
Actually Iron man has led the avengers almost as often as Cap has, and was the leader of the avengers when they found cap.
-
It's like they decides to get all the shitty AMVs made by retarded twelve year olds out of the way before the show even comes out. Throw in some random color changes and that film grain filter and we got us a winner!
-
Also, Rob, I'm disappointed in you. As a nerd, you should be more outraged by the fact that Iron Man is leading the Avengers in this cartoon, not Captain America? WTF? Just because the guy has two movies and Cap's hasn't come out yet, he's suddenly promoted to leader? The drunk? Really?
-
Hahahahahaha. Nice.
-
so they mentioned and showed the Black Panther....but so briefly that he should have just been left out....... and what is up with fury's hair?!
-
Does anyone else think it sounds like Sum 41... what happened to that band... I'm convinced it is Sum 41 actually
-
Hey, um, 1994 just called. They want their crappy, generic rock cartoon show theme song back.
-
I was just thinking that we have the linkin park version to look forward to for the movie...
-
So...so terrible. I should have listened, Rob! I should never have left the sound on!
-
Gah, my gorram ears!
-
I don't know if that was the theme song for Avengers or if the Nexus is about to make its way to the ring on Monday Night Raw.
-
I think the thing that's really bothering me is the rhyming or lack there of. Not a real one if you try to rhyme alone with alone...and then one with won. Kinda sounds like what a high schooler would write for an english class.
-
I thought the theme song was ok, what I don't like is Iron Man's helmet. It looks ridiculous.
-
They ryhmed "one" with "won"? really? really?!?!?
-
It reminds me of all the cheesy LinkPark AMVs out there.
-
But I love Linkin Shady
-
But... but... they never come undone!
-
Hi, Disney just blocked the video.
