I never played the Star Wars MMO so no Han Solo saving for me. But back in the day when City of Heroes first came out, Bruce Campbell gave my newbie hero 10,000 influence.

Damn..Nightwing is looking fine ;D

If you play it with a game controller instead of keyboard/mouse, it's actually a pretty fun (but mindless) game to lean back and fuck around with for a few hours at a time. The grind doesn't feel as dull because the combat is more like Marvel Ultimate Alliance than WoW or Everquest. Really, the game feels like a MMO version of MUO... Which is fine with me for a while. - In beta I ran into some bugs. They seem fixed now, but little ones still pop up every once in a while. However, this game is NOWHERE near as buggy and incomplete as Star Wars Galaxies and Anarchy Online were when they launched. All of us in the Star Wars beta begged them not to launch with the game as broken as it was, and nobody listened. They launched it with a crap-ton of game-breaking bugs, and a shitty system that was incredibly unbalanced and DULL. Crafting was broken. The story was idiotic. The game was full of glitches and game mechanic bugs. - And Anarchy Online just didn't work on 90% of the computers out there. It was poorly optimized, slow, and really badly planned. - You can play AO for free now, last I checked. It's still not worth it.

Han Solo is THAT awesome. He saved EVERYONE.
-
Must...resist...urge to...blow of money...on online games...again...AAAGH! DX

Are they still having problems/bugs with this game? The beta event with Jim Lee was a disaster. Yet people keep coming back like blind sheep.
-
This is exactly what it is.

I've played some of the DCUO game. Sinestro in green there was from a bit on Sinestro's past. After you beat any hero or villain (depending on the side you're playing) you get a clip based on the hero or villain you fought. There's a section you fight the Sinestro Corp along-side the GLs, and after beating Sinestro you get his history, which of course starts when he was a GL, before going rogue.
-
:) forgot the smiley so you know I'm not making fun of you directly, just the cliche of Lex pretending to be on the good side.
-
Good to see what Jim Lee was doing instead of drawing that gift to humanity that is All-Star Batman.
-
does everyone gasp in astonishment when lex (er the lexes) double crosses everyone?
-
forgot about that rule.
-
Yes everyone gets rescued by Han Solo. It's canon.
-
I don't play DCUO,(I play Champions Online), but from the premise I read on DCUO; Brainac has taken over the Earth. Lex Luthor has developed something to give anyone powers. Tests it on some guy with plans to send him/it back before Brainac takes over. Hopes to create heroes to fight Brainac. Ends up Future Lex is in cahoots with past Lex and double deals everyone.

hmmm.. you're complaints could be applied to any MMORPG. you often start off with the impression that you are important, even though you know you are just another player. or is it somehow more marysue-ish than other ones? Played the star wars demo and my first thought was "what the hell? Does everyone get rescued by han solo in the beginning??"
-
If I am not mistaken, the plot of the game has to do with the comic canon DCU some time in the future getting invaded by aliens which defeat all the greatest hero and villains(who figure it's their world too, so jump into the fray) one by one. Some how or another time travel is involved, someone tells everyone whats going to happen, and that somehow leads to tens-or-hundreds-of-thousands of new superheros and villains coming into existence/action. In short, a something preposterously crazy happens that causes even more preposterous things to happen. Rather, nothing anyone who reads comic regularly isn't familiar with.

I don't care how flashy the cut scenes are, the game looks lame and boring as hell, even for a MMORPGer. I've long been a DC fan / addict. Yet I can't imagine wasting my time grinding in some insipid gameplay just get a message from Batman telling me to fight yet another batch of gorillas terrorists in Gotham. Never mind that it just seems weak and pisses on the character of Batman (or Superman or Wonder Woman) that they're taking time to work so closely with a shitty fan fiction wannabe character that everyone online creates. The pandering of this game is just astonishing. It's like DC has officially licensed some Mary Sue fanfic. Suddenly you're Batman's new best friend and you can help save the universe? Ack. That just makes the game so much worse to me.

and ya.....like 50% of the voice work in the game is putrid..... funny at first but after a while....gag me!
-
being a DCUO player...I can tell you, all of the cutscenes like those are in fact background info about either the character you just fought and beat or some character tied in with the mission you just finished....they are all really good :)
-
Really? I always skip them. I saw them plenty in the beta, and now in the real game I'm just bored with them and kind of annoyed by how many bad voice actors they got to do these things. - They really need to fix the voices in the game. Some are awesome (Batman, Superman, Joker, Wonder Woman) and some are terrible (Grodd, Wonder Girl, Zatana, etc.) -- In the case of Zatanna, they didn't bother reversing her speech in her spells. What sucks is that they even SAY "Zatanna needs to speak backward to use her magic" and then the VERY NEXT SCENE is Zatanna speaking forwards to teleport away "Teleport!" - Grodd sounds like a growling, roaring, mindless monster. Wonder Girl's voice is grating. Several others are just poorly scripted or poorly performed. - I like the game, but the voice work could have been cast, directed, and edited a LOT better. They needed to get the WB animation people to come over and help. As it stands, I need to skip a lot of their talking because it just blows my image of the characters.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DCUO#Universe , this may not be the normal(heh) DCU you're looking for

Rob, From what I remember from the cut scene they kind of did an: "I once was the bravest and best of the Green Lanterns, but soon realized that Fear not Will was they way to gain structure." type of cut scene with Sinestro. Sinestro and the Sinestro Corps appear in the game, but he is in the new yellow suit.
-
Rob, he's also wearing his Sinesto Corps uniform. I've not been playing, but I'm going to assume Sinesto is seen in cut scenes from more than one source or there's one that covers his time in the GLC and Sinestro Corps.
-
Sinestro in green might tie into Flashpoint. Hal Jordan never becomes Green Lantern and thus no one discovers what Sinestro is really doing.
-
These scenes are typically character retrospectives to get those who may be unfamiliar with them up to speed on character history and motivation. So, the Sinestro one shows his history as the "Greatest Green Lantern" before the bits about his fall.
-
Sinestro in green?? Maybe it has to do with the Green Lantern movie??
