• As long as it doesn't have any elements in it that were created for the movie.

• Well, let's just hope that the PR and Marketing people and the Developers and Writers are different.

• I thought it was more like Diablo meets Monkey Island, with a dash of Monty Python.

• DeathSpank is so wonderful. It's like World of Warcraft meets the Tick and then rolled in crazybits.

• The nice thing about the Penny Arcade games was the use of Narration, which hopefully will fit in well with a narrative coming from the Guide itself. On the flip side, the PA games were virtually a strict Turn Based RPG without random encounters. So not necessarily a point in favor of the Adventure Game aspect. I'd probably be more comfortable with this game being made if it was being done by Telltale Games, as they've done an excellent job with both Sam & Max and Back To the Future so far. But I guess we'll have to see. Hopefully the era of the adventure game will rise again. 

• Ugh I can't believe I made that mistake, good catch good sir. Granted we all knew who I was talking about anyway, but it isn't fair to the good people at telltale that they get confused with another studio.

• Actually, that could work. Of course, it'd be less about combat and more about finding supplies and surviving strange worlds.

• Okay, first of all: It's TELLTALE GAMES. NOT Travellers Tales. I hate it when people mix these up. Second, as a big fan and supporter of TELLTALE GAMES, I agree with you. I love Telltale's writing, and its skills to create new stories with existing franchises without making them sound like fanfiction, but that's not exactly what I want in a H2G2 game (Hell, we all know how fans reacted when Eoin Colfer announced that he was doing it). I'd rather have a retelling of the original stories, but with some differences here and there (every version of the story; the radio show, the TV show, the books, the text adventure, are all a little different) Also, Hothead's humor leans on the surreal, fourth-wall-breaking style with a unique look, which will fit well with H2G2's story. Telltale can probably do a good job making a traditional adventure game, but I'd prefer to see what Hothead can come up with.

• Except I thought it was, at least from that info, the PA guys who cancelled it. Although as Rocketeer says it looks like things flip-flop in that area. Nonetheless, I still stand by the fact that their games are pretty damn good anyway, so no real need to panic.

• I would hope that they'd be able to rein in their RPG tendencies for this one. If not then it's a huge misstep

• It's got that bloody ugly logo thing that the list from a couple of weeks ago said American associate with H2G2, and that Adams hated. Also, the writing shouldn't be visible where the post-it is on top of the screen. Was it too much work to show an edge of the box there? I can't believe how much one screenshot has me worried about the game.

• hmm. completely dropping an episodic game in favor of another might not be the best sign in a developer.

• Simon Jones is the one doing the voice on the website. It's classy that they used him.

• I have to wonder how H2G2 would translate into a PA style game, since there's not as much combat. Is there going to be a sandwich-making mini-game?

• I actually just finished the first Deathspank last night (I had forgotten that I even had it on my hard drive and was itching for something new to play) Having played both PA games and the first DS I'd say that they're actually a better fit for a Hitchhiker game than even Travellers Tales (the guys behind Sam and Max, Monkey Island, Back to the Future). Though I'm sure the Travellers Tales guys would have made it a better adventure game the Hothead guys have a sense of humor that I find funnier and I think is a much better fit to Hitchhiker

• To clarify; I know games have bugs. But the way the DeathSpank 2 bugs were handled was absolutely painful. I actually sent their dev team my save file so they could try to figure it out (being one of the first to run into the game-endingly horrible bug) and after two months they did manage to come to a solution and correct it; for me. Which I do appreciate. They were however completely unable to modify save files for the 360 version of the game. And refused to go to any length to patch or raise any sort of awareness that their product would decide to stop working on you. Being told by their staff to "Just play it again" felt more than a little insulting when you stood the same odds of running into the same bug again on a second play.

• We need some sort of User's Guide to the Internet with a similar tone to the Hitchhiker's Gide. I'd cite Encyclopedia Dramatica, except it sorta got whitewashed when it became Oh Internet recently. Namely, it became more of an information repository and lost that abusive snark that made it entertaining to read.

• Screw you Hothead. Your buggy ass Deathspank sequel made itself unplayable for a ton of us and you never bothered to patch the problem. It's absolutely wonderful getting to the final area and then being unable to proceed because of terrible lack of foresight with how drops in relation to the random auto-saves occuring.

• "On the other hand, if someone was going to make a Hitchhiker's game, I'd probably want it to be an adventure/puzzle game a la Monkey Island -- seems like that would be the best way to get the series' humor across, don't you? -- which is what the PA games were, so at least Hothead has experience." Although the Penny Arcade games hade RPG elements as well, & DeathSpank is an action/RPG game, so I wouldn't be surprised if this game followed suit a little as well. Also, there was a reason the last 2 Penny Arcade games (which were well-received) were cancelled, according to Wikipedia: "As of March 26, 2010, Penny Arcade creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik have announced that Episode 3 and any subsequent games in the series have been cancelled because, according to Holkins, developer Hothead Games 'has a chance to do something really cool with [DeathSpank],' and 'we'd rather not do it than do it half-assed.'" So basically, it seems like they quite because they though DeathSpank would kick more ass. And judging from the reviews/my own personal gameplay experience, it did do that for the most part, so indeed, I really wouldn't panic (for now). =P

• The issue with the Penny Arcade games coming out tends to flip-flop depending on who you ask. the PA guys say it's Hothead and Hothead says the PA guys were the reason it got delayed out of existence. I personally wish Telltale Games had gotten the license. It's been an awesome year for them with Back to the Future and Jurassic Park on its way.
