Singer, songwriter, Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, and better camera-desirer AllieGoertz sent me this song about the potential meaningfulness and emotional satisfaction of a good role-playing session, and I just adore it. It's really pretty, far prettier than a song about rolling 20-side dice and empty chips bags cluttering the floor should be. Well done, ma'am.

I actually find it a bit insulting that she generalizes D&D as a wish fulfillment for weepy stoner guys who hate their lives. I don't know with you, but when I go out to play D&D, play a video game or watch a movie, I not doing it to escape reality. I'm doing it because I'm having fun and enjoy the company I'm with.
Hi, didn't mean to offend. As I say in my video description and the start of my vid, the song is personal and was meant specifically for those of us who have a place (physically or mentally) that we can escape to. In my case, it's Dungeons and Dragons. I'm glad you are able to enjoy it as a game alone. :)
Wish fulfillment is not the only reason I play but I'd be full of it if I claimed it did not play a part in the reason I still play. You don't have to hate your life to want to be a hero. You don't have to hate reality to wish that magic really worked. You just need to be able to dream a bit and not be ashamed of dreaming a bit. Remember not to let D&D replace your dreams though. Life may seem hard now but if you keep moving forward you'll make it to your happy place.
I've never had the phrase "and Ohhh there will be blood spilled" bring such a smile to my face. Well, not a smile that didn't consist of at leat 40% evil intent.

jk no that was really beautiful aaawwww. Sorry I'm a little touchy waiting for my transparent blue elven dice to get through the mail before dnd saturday night. I usually don't go for the breathy airy voice thing because it usually masks a bad singer, but she gave a great performance. Great voice and song, two thumbs up!!!
That was really really good it was way better then most nerd songs. I got all tingl, I hope because she was a good singer and not because I related to the theme. sigh.
I really enjoyed this. There is something so innocent and sweet here. I checked her Youtube page and she has another song devoted to her love of comedians that is equally pretty.
It's bad when I was all about this until she mentioned an AC of 22 and I realized she plays 3rd edition or higher...
