That's just an old arcade game port. They probably decided it was too dated, too fun, or too challenging for modern gamers. Why has no one mentioned it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C... You can play it with MAME if you're so inclined.

A first-person multiplayer superhero game? where I can play as Hulk, Thor, Cap or Iron Man? WHY WAS THIS CANCELED WHY GOD WHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
More links from around the web!
Well, they should cancel it.. Avengers + first-person shooter = failure.. To me, THQ made a good decision...
That looked AMAZING! Super bummed they canceled it. New YouTube link that's up (for now):
Not sure if want. How about a new Avengers game in the style of the old Cap and the Avengers? Seriously, why has nobody thought to put current-gen graphics (and god-willing, gameplay length and depth) into a side-scrolling beat-'em-up??
I mean, could you imagine a Final Fight with a several hour long story mode (with a fun story to go with it), branching paths that could change the length/difficulty/outcome depending on the path you choose, more interactive environments (think 619-ing around a light post or sliding a mook headfirst down a bar), and maybe even light RPG elements AND still have it look and play much like the original?
I think beat-em ups have evolved onto the path of the Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors games. It's still the same formula, only in 3D.
Having said that, it WOULD be awesome if Koei shook hands with Capcom or Sega or any of those old beat-em ups publishers to produce an original game under the same veins of their super hit Dynasty Warriors games. New story, new settings, new characters, new mechanics, new everything.
Besides, there is only so much you can milk out of the Three Kingdom/Warring States Periods stories before we all get sick and tired of it, you know?
maybe we can get the team who did Ultimate Alliance 1 to make a new game instead
The Legends/Alliance engine needs a complete remake. X-Men Legends 1 was great for its time. Legends 2 was an okay "We've done all the engine work, so lets make a sequel" cash-in, just with some really weird/lazy design choices, light fighting giant ants and robots in Genosha.
But then the engine was recycled again for Ultimate Alliance, and yet again for Ultimate Alliance 2? Sure, it had tweaks along the way, but the games themselves looked like DLC for Legends 1. You still had the same actions and animations. You still had the same camera. The same approach to level and enemy design. And it seemed the same number of glitches and game-stopping bugs, even if the glitches and bugs were new in each game.
Screw that. Get Koei to work on this game instead. If it works for Gundam, it can work for men in colorful spandex!
Koei is doing One Piece next.
Silicon Knights (Eternal Darkness, Too Human) is doing an X-Men adventure game, but you play a newbie X-Man created just for the game (but also get to pick your powers for that reason.) It is being kind to call Silicon Knights hit-or-miss, though, when it comes to good games.
No Ultimate Alliance added more with the multiple costumes that actually mattered and for some reason they downgraded it for the sequel and added the worst end boss in a modern comic book game.
Fucking nanite infused Nick Fury! Why didn't we get to fight Galactus? Why only one extra costume?
Well, you know Sega has been making the movie games since Incredible Hulk. My guess is that this was based on the comics somewhat and might have been cancelled because Sega is gonna take over or something. Regardless, I'm pretty sure we can guarantee there will be an Avengers game, Assuming Marvel/Disney still likes money.
Guys, this isn't so big of a deal. All we need is to start a petition. If the concern is cost, then THQ just needs to see that this game is already a ready-made bestseller. I propose we start a Facebook group. If we get enough members, it'll probably get the company's attention!
I think it could be likely that the game is based on the original Ultimates but to be released to tie in with movie characters in a separate story. Unless Marvel is retarded and making secret invasion the subject of their first film. I also wonder if they'll revive the project at a different studio, because this really did look cool. First person is iffy, but it might have been a lot of fun to play,
Looks a bit violent for Marvel fare with all that blood splattering and Hulk breaking necks and shit. I'm uncomfortable.
I'm also still not convinced that this means Skrulls in the movie. Tie-in games often have "additional adventures" and this could be what we're looking at here.
Well, Loki has to have some sort of army.
Loki: "I have an army!"Stark: "Well, we have a Hulk!!"
Pre-guaranteed to be the best dialogue exchange in any film 2012. Or maybe ever.
.......Not to do a mayan rain dance on this parade...but does anyone else think a FP perspective is a terrible fit for a superhero game?
I love the avengers....but who wants to play as slow turning Iron Man?
the X-Men Skrull made me wonder if there will be any X-Men cameos on the Avengers movie... which would be awesome.
No the X-Men movie rights are not currently owned by Disney/Marvel, same with Spiderman, and Fantastic 4. Hopefully one day Disney will finish buying all of the Marvel rights so we can have a single entity again.
Yeah, I watched the Directors Cut of Fantastic Four on FX last night and I did a spit take when Mr. Fantastic "morphed" his face into Wolverine for a second.
Maybe when Bulletstorm didn't do amazing sales, THQ decided not to release an Avengers clone of it.
The Bulletstorm slo-mo effect really sticks out, with both Iron Man and Hulk able to send Skrulls into slow motion "floating." Filling the screen with destruction XP. The questionable (for a Marvel game) camera spatter finishing moves.
Being an FPS at all seems weird. Melee doesn't work well in FPS view, particularly against groups, and more than half the Avengers present are mostly melee based characters. But since the third-person Marvel license games of late haven't been anything to write home about, I guess I could see THQ trying to blindly jump into the flooded co-op FPS market instead, probably thinking that the problem with third-person sales is that the market is dead, rather than that the games just aren't that good.
Well, I'm just going to assume that they would have some how screwed it up like most movie tie-in games...just to help ease the pain I now feel.
THQ = Totally Hates Quality
"America still needs your help!" Nothing will quite top the arcade game. Or the one where you could be either Captain America or Hawkeye for the NES.
once again, i lose faith in video game developers.... and or the big wigs that shut this stuff down, without letting (well without it being leaked) the public see it first
i think this game looks awesome, great concept, and idea, its SOMETHING NEW... i bet there going to just turn it into a awful third person Marvel Alliance.... god i hate them all
How can it be tied to the movieverse and make reference to X-Men and F4 via Super-Skrulls? Next time it's Spider-man who's going to show up. And the Ghost Rider...
If the Skrulls are in the movie I doubt they'll look much like that. I kind of hope they do though.
Why was it canceled? Cause it looks like not so good really. Though my theory is this is a demo for a game like Ghostbusters where they were using it to shop around not actually game. Plus there is no way the Skrulls will look like that in the movieverse
I heard a rumor Thanos was in this movie and Loki was helping him get the infinity gauntlet. I hope it's just the skrulls, I don't get the need for 2 or 3 villians in each movie. In the old days one villian would be more than enough to handle the good guys.
It looks like they're doing the Skrulls first, probably as a smokescreen by Loki while he tries to get his hands on the Cosmic Cube. It keeps his canonical status as the first villain ever fought by the Avengers, and introduces the space stuff to the Marvel movie universe. Anyone hoping for the Skrull/Kree War in Avengers 2?
I'm thinking they might be building up to eventually doing an Infinity Gauntlet movie as their next big crossover project for 2017.
It looks cool, I wonder why it got cancelled. They obviously have the basic engine done, can finishing really be more expensive then what they have put into it already?
My friends and I still quote that game to this day.
"There's no escape!""You will be the one escaping!"
"NO!" "OOF!" "NO!" "OOF!" "NO!" "OOF!" "NO!" "OOF!" "NO!" "OOF!" "NO!" "OOF!" "NO!" "OOF!"
Us too, Darth! I grew up basically in a Namco arcade which featured the Avengers game."I...can't move!""America still needs your help!"
