Toy Fair 2012 Madness Part 1: Hasbro, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, Spider-Man, Avengers

? The New York Toy Fair kicked off this weekend, and holy shit is there a lot of news worth talking about this year. We’ll start with Hasbro, because it segu?s well into the biggest news of the show, which is the reveal of the Avengers movie villains thanks to a board game.

? God, all the G.I. Joe: Retaliation figures and vehicles look amazing. Besides a 3.75-inch Bruce Willis figure, there’ll be an sweet movie Crimson Guard figure with decals that you can use to change his rank.

?? Star Wars has the same old craziness, but the biggest will be the SDCC exclusive in a neat carbon-freezing chamber themed package with seven figures, including an exclusive Jar Jar in Carbonite. Well done, Hasbro.
? Hasbro is doing a Star Trek Kre-O line. This blows my mind, because technically Hasbro has the Star Trek license. I cannot imagine Hasbro not doing more with this later.

?? Here is the definite toy look at the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man. I cannot stop looking at his enormous groin bulge. I do not feel this is a good thing.
? So, Avengers: There will be both a movie line and an Ultimate line, meaning there will be an Ultimate Hawkeye figure, which is boss. Also, that SHIELD Helicarrier? Three goddamn feet long. And last but certainly not least, if you want to know the villains for the Avengers movie revealed in super-shitty toy form, hit the jump.

?? You’re looking at the pieces from Avengers: Battle for the Cosmic Cube board game (from Jakks, not Hasbro). You’ll notice the many, many bad guy pieces are of hunched, pointy-eared non-humans. Of course, they could be some monsters from one of the Norse realms, but they have big fucking guns and they rode those crazy vehicles in the trailer, so unless Loki suddenly borrowed a lot of tech for his invasion of Earth, I think we’re looking at Skrulls, people. I am 100% down with this. There are many more pics over at Idle Hands.
