An upcoming issue of Valiant's X-O Manowar will feature a talking variant, and by "talking" I mean "you can scan a QR code on your camera phone and then hold your phone over the picture's mouth and it'll play a video like the mouth is moving." I'm reasonably certain this is the most interesting thing that has ever been associated with an X-O Manowar comic... which possibly explains why Valiant felt it necessary to include a talking variant in the first place. I know, I know, I'm supposed to think its insanely lame and act all jaded...but fuck me if that just isnt really cool. The 11-year-old inside me approves.
Talk about your blast from the past! Anyone wanna buy a mint-condition copy of X-O Manowar #0?
Oh 1990's comic collecting...retiring off you really was just a pipe dream.
This is actually quite cool. That "augmented reality" thing reminds me of the (sadly doomed) Gizmondo hand-held consol.
Anyway, I thought Valiant Comics went bankrupt years ago? Who knew!
Every couple of years they drag their characters back out hoping there's a cache of readers who are new enough, or at least high enough to go feel some misplaced nostalgia and try them.
It's never a huge fiasco. It's never a huge anything. It just goes away after a while, like the world's mildest std.
dude what are you talking about. Valiant has been back since the 90s. This is the relaunch. the first. and clearly you havent seen cary nords x-o manowar pages. they are epic!
Clutch Xargo of the 31st Century
"All animation shall be limited...by the work of my gore-streaked hands!"
I'm glad *some*body mentioned Clutch Cargo. To say nothing of the horror that was Syncro-Vox.
I hope this catches on, especially if the comic book companies contract out with Robert Smigel, Louis C.K., and other contributors from the old Conan O'Brien Clutch Cargo skits to do the voices.
XO was a cool book Rob. A Caveman in futuristic armor. Sometimes he fought Dinosaurs. What is to hate??
"Iron Man and X-O Manowar in: Heavy Metal"
That's what to hate. That game made me wanna break both my Saturn and my Playstation, just to avoid the possibility of accidentally playing it again on either system.
But I will grant you that the comic itself was a very fun read.
