Jamese Cameron Refuses to Let Anyone Make Battle Angel Alita, Even Himself

If you’ve been waiting for the live-action Battle Angel Alita movie that James Cameron has said he’s been directing since, oh, 2003 or so, you’re going to have to wait a little longer. Cameron likes the story too much to let anyone else direct it, according to an interview he did with MTV, but not quite enough to preempt Avatar 2 and 3 for it, which Cameron seems to think is going to help save the environment or something. Anyways, Avatars 2 and 3 are currently set for 2014 and 2015, respectively, which means the earliest Alita can roll into theaters is 2016 — although I’d bet all the cookies that both Avatar movies take longer, and then Cameron gets distracted with at least two other movies before remembering he has Alita. And then he’ll have a heart attack and die, and the rights will be fucked up for years. So… 2033 I what I’m guessing. Stay tuned! (The Daily What)
