You're being unrealistic at best. Obnoxious at worst. Are you seriously suggesting that no one here should be pointing out that an actor (someone who chose to make his face the focus of this series) has a facial deformation? No one is calling him names, no one is judging him as a person, they are only pointing out that a person with a facial deformation can be distracting and unappealing as a lead in a show. Thats not being an "asshole"... that's just being honest. Honestly though, you seem to be the only one calling people names around here.
The first episode of the totally unapproved, Community-inspired Inspector Spacetime web series -- titled "Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time" because of that whole unapproved thing -- is here, and, uh... it's all right, I guess. I liked the Circuitchaps, mostly because of their awesome name. But the Inspector is kind of a douche. And I can't decide if that's a specific homage to Doctor Who's Doctor's frequent shortsightedness and self-centeredness, or... if he's just kind of a douche, I guess. Maybe I'm just disappointed at the lack of Alison Brie. Could be anything, really.

For the record, I admit being a terrible person. However. I took no "shot at him". I know him not and do not know if I think he would be a good person or not. All I said was that his condition distracted me enough that I could not enjoy the video. Are you taking a shot at the mild aspergers that compels me to notice and be bothered by it?
Right. Again, this has nothing to do with the quality of his work. You're trying to justify that it's okay to take a potshot at someone's physical appearance that they can't control. At no point do any of the commentators in this thread make any kind of reference to the work--just his face. And, oh my God, yes...that absolutely makes them an asshole. There is no justification, cultural background, logic, way of upbringing, or point of view that in anyway does not make that the behavior of an asshole. And if you find that insulting? GOOD.
I don't think anyone is saying he's a bad person or terrible or anything like that because of his medical condition. You do have to remember that he chose to be an actor, a profession that almost relies completely on an actor's physical appearance, and to pretend like it isn't a factor in his performance is a bit insulting and strange,to say the least. Its why people like George Clooney are so successful; they aren't just good actors, they are attractive people. So while Travis' condition is nothing to be ashamed of, to parade it in front of a society that is conditioned to respond to physical beauty in media, and to pretend that anyone that doesn't immediately accept it as "normal" is some sort of asshole, is completely ridiculous and borderline insulting. While Travis' condition is definitely unappealing to the mainstream audience, if he owned it, and used it to his advantage instead of pretending like it didn't exist, he would probably be out doing more than bootleg parodies of a parody of a british sci-fi show. Look at Marty Feldman for example, or even RJ Mitte. Both of these actors had/have conditions that are unconventional, but they excel(led) in their craft. I wish the best for Travis and truly hope he finds success, but his condition shouldn't be used as a weapon to silence people that dislike his work
Wow. Just wow. Travis Richey is actually a good friend of mine, and whether or not you like what he's put together for your entertainment, taking shots at him because of a medical condition is so low class and pathetic it's not even funny. You are all absolutely terrible people and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
It's not that bad. It garnered a few chuckles and I think it has potential. Calm down, TR Trolls. Let them have a bit of fun. Sheesh.
I dunno, man...Seemed like just another DR. WHO episode to me. Was it supposed to be a parody or a remake?
Could be a variety of reasons, but it's not something I'm going to message him about straight away. I don't get why there is so much "Oh my God, it looks like he's had a stroke, it hurts my eyes", it doesn't look bad really...
Seems like a one trick pony, but if that there phone booth could travel to other science fiction settings (star wars or trek, Alien, Muppets in space, you get the idea) they could be onto something. I like the hitchhiker guide type explanations.
I'll be honest, I enjoyed it. Yes it was not perfect, but as someone who has worked on a few low budget, I think it looks good, and is fun, and i think people are being too harsh too soon. Just give it a chance.
The original trailer didn't seem funny at all, and from the comments, this seems like a guy who's trying to piggyback his shitty comedic sensibilities onto things that are actually funny. The question isn't "Where" or "When" are we, it's "Why".
I have a good feeling that if Community shows Inspector Spacetime again, it'll be a new regeneration. You blew it, Travis Richey.
This is just kind of sad and desperate. I don't think this guy understands that people liked that Community parodied Dr Who, and that it had little to do him as the character. Add on to the fact that he was told specifically not to do this, it just seems sad. Most people would just shrug it off and continue to look for honest work, but at this point he is just exploiting and bootlegging both franchises to get his name out there.
the whole right side of his face is different. Its not pleasant to look at, that's for sure
as a Community fan and a Doctor Who fan i hate that this exists. and i hate that he's being embraced. it cheapens both the properties it claims to emulate. i decided not to watch it, cause fuck this guy, but i assume the douchiness you're seeing is him coming through into the character. this guy can go fuck himself.
Sorry, can't watch it. The way the right side of the guy's mouth just hangs makes me think he is having a stroke.
It will get really funny when george lucas sues them for using samples from his prequel scores.
The above image looks like it's more of an Avengers (the British ones) fan film what with the guy in the bowler hat, the chick with the red hair and the red phone booth in the background. Then you hit play...
I think he's just a douche...which I approve of. This was fine but I'm hoping it will get better. I think it could have used an extra three minutes or so to get its point across.
It wasn't that funny. I think it missed what made it funny on Community, the loving homage to the hokier and cheaper elements of Classic Who. This was just a bunch of renamed references to Doctor Who, which isn't really a joke.
