What I most like about the trailer is that the Original Trilogy characters all seem sympathetic, relatable, and/or cool, whereas the Prequel characters all come off as obnoxious jerks victimizing the OT cast. It's almost like a hidden message by the animation team.
Speaking of phantom menaces, apparently there's going to be a new Lego Star Wars special on Cartoon Network next Wednesday! Titled The Empire Strikes Out -- get it? Get it? It's like Empire Strikes Back, but it's strikes out, which is a well-known baseball term which refers to a negative event in which a baseball player fails, meaning it would be quite shameful if the Empire were to "strike out," which is very funny! -- it appears to be set during the original trilogy, in which a coke-addled Darth Maul shows up to be insane and fuck shit up. I approve mightily. If he shows up on Dagobah and TPs Yoda's hut, I'll approve even more. Thanks to Flailx for the tip.
More links from around the web!
The first one of these was AWESOME stuff (the American Idol / Kardashians / "Jedi Master Out" gag especially, as well as pretty much anything with Yoda) so I'm all for more.
The first one of these had Lego George Lucas telling Darth Vader to get a doughnut because he got in the way of Yoda and Han's adventure with Clone Troopers and Battle Droids on Hoth. So... yeah, not so much with the continuity in these.
There are particular episodes of Clone Wars that are really, really good...and then there are long periods of awfulness...it's like an entertainment Skinner box...you just keep watching hoping that this one will be a treat, but you can't be sure until you've watched it. The random distribution of good and bad episodes keeps you from just giving up.
"Why are you choking yourself? Why are you choking yourself?" Yes, it's juvenile, but FUCK YOU! It's funny! XD
In 3d, all CG, Jar Jar is now a veteran... poop jokes (already added in the special edition?)... add a cute kid or some sort...
Another animated Star Wars self-parody? Seems about right. Star Wars is just a joke now. Stuff like this carry on until they remake Episode IV.
the last Lego Star Wars special they did reminded me of Airplane in a way - the whole "throw in as many jokes as possible" philosophy (which I mean in a good way). This looks to be more of that style.
I think they should have just made Maul a head and torso, maybe with his legs walking along next to him.
All those times people talked about the Lego Star Wars games and said, "I wish they made this a movie instead of the prequels." And now they kinda did. Somebody out there really is listening...
I have no problem with the title, book judge by cover you should not and all, the last one they did was pretty good
This looks sort of awesome and kind of hilarious. I will be watching, if only to see Maul wreck shit.
I will definitely be tuning in. Right after I hack out these stupid flash advertisements every time I open a page.
