Lego Would Like to Spoil Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel for You, If you Don’t Mind

Lego just revealed a few of the upcoming Lego sets due out in 2013, including the ones tied into Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel. The set names confirm and/or reveal a few things about the two movies. The Iron Man 3 ones aren’t that big a deal, but the Man of Steel one is kind of a big deal, although I don’t think it’s going to impress anyone. Anyways, the sets are listed after the jump.

? Arctic Batman vs. Mr.Freeze – Aquaman on Ice
? Batman vs. Bane – Chase with Tumbler
? Superman Metropolis Showdown
? Superman Battle of Smallville
? Spider-Man – Hunting with Spider-Cycle
? Spider-Man – Mission at Daily Bugle
? Iron Man Extremis
? Iron Man Malibu Mansion
? Iron Man vs Mandarin
? Superman Black Zero Escape

So these Lego sets confirm the pretty-much-definitely-known rumor that Iron Man 3 was going to be based on the Extremis comics, that Mandarin will be the movie’s villain, and the the less ubiquitous rumor that Stark’s mansion is going to get destroyed. The first two Superman sets are too generic to be worthwhile, but that last one is quite a doozy. While Michael Shannon has said he’s playing Zod, no one has ever confirmed that Zod would be the film’s villain. So it’s apparently Black Zero, a being that actually destroyed Krypton and later tried to destroy Earth.

On one hand, if this is right, I’m incredibly grateful we’re not getting Zod and another sloppy blowjob/tribute to the Donner movies. On the other hand, of all of superman’s villains to choose from, you pick Black Zero? Eesh. I still think it’s a good thing overall, and I hope it’s true, but somewhere Brainiac is sitting in a dark room, feeling unloved and cutting himself. (Via /Film)
